I owned an old AGP graphics card by BFG. One day the fan failed and I needed a new one. After spending some time searching my regular on-line part retailers for a new fan, it appeared that I could not find one from a retailer. I was a bit upset as the card was top of the line when I bought it and still played any game that I was interested in very well even though it was old.

I decided to go right to the manufacturer and buy the part from them. I called BFG and expected the worst, tech vendors in my experience are bad and rarely helpful. But what happened was beyond my imagination and certainly my expectations.

First up, the tech on the line was pleasant and helpful (he spoke English!) and clearly was sincere in his tone. I told him about my problem and asked if that part was available and could I buy one if it was. You wont believe what happened next! The tech said "Why don't we just fix the card for you under warranty?". I said: "I'm sorry, I have had it for years,...

We bought two for our new twins. We totally bought into the hype of this product. From all outward and obvious appearances, this thing is the best thing to hit parenting. Imagine: Just "snap" your kid into this thing and you're free to do what you need!

BUT...

It does not promote good development. This seemingly amazing product simply does all the work for your kid. And despite how good that sounds, its not good at all. The convenience of this product does not outweigh the damage you could do developmentally. Our Dr recommended not using them and we got rid of them. Ask your Dr about yours before you make a decision, but don't just assume its fine without asking around, its not worth being wrong.

skippytjc says "Not what I expected" about Smokin' Aces (2007) 109 minutes

I was expecting the movie that the trailers advertised: Fast paced extreme violence from the first second to the very end with a simple plot to drive it. But what I got was a movie that was deeper than that and with about half the fast paced violence I was promised.

But is this a bad thing? I have not really figured that out yet. On one side, I was totally unhappy that I did not get what I wanted when I bought the movie. On the other, the deeper plot and the surprisingly fair acting was a pleasant surprise. I had no idea that Ryan Reynolds could actually act (and I'm a fan too!).

Bottom line is I didn't get what I wanted, but the movie wasn't bad at all. I was promised a movie that was a cross between Oceans 11 and Natural Born Killers, but got a decent movie that was a lot different. If I knew that going in I would have liked it more.
