shwana05 says "Love the small size and large storage capacity" about Apple - iPod Nano (4 GB)

This is my second iPod (my first took one too many falls out of my bag and I got the Apple frowny face of death) and even though the first one didn't last too long, I'm hoping to have better luck with the nano. I really like that it's small enough to run with it on, but it'll hold a ton of music! Plus it's pretty easy to use, which is big since I'm not the most electronics-savvy person in the world.

I just wish that it didn't switch to horizontal view when I hold it sideways - if I'm carrying it, the viewer switches back and forth. I've seen the same thing on the iPhone so I guess this is one of the new bells and whistles...I'm just not that impressed. And I can't stand the earphones that come with it. I know a lot of people can use the earbuds but I had to go out and get new ones.

Basically I'm an iPod customer until a competitor can make a player that looks as good.
...

shwana05 says "Not bad...for $10 wine" about red truck , Red Wine

I'm not picky but Red Truck red wine isn't bad for $10. I don't know all the wine jargon to properly describe it for experts, but I think experts wouldn't be lining up for Red Truck :) It's a basic red wine, not too smooth (but then I don't like smooth wines). I've had better, but then again I've had much worse....

shwana05 says "Pampered Chef Spoons are kitchen essentials" about Pampered Chef Bamboo Spoon Set

I have a random assortment of Pampered Chef gadgets, but the bamboo spoons are fantastic! I think my mother has had the same wooden cooking spoons for 30 years, but when I went looking for something that sturdy in the stores, I couldn't find anything. Most of what I found was cheap splintering wood spoons that I would be afraid would break if stirring something thick like cookie dough! But then my mom bought me a set of the Pampered Chef - problem solved! They're good quality and I'll be shocked if they don't last for years and years.
...

shwana05 says "We're still together" about Match.com

I met my boyfriend about 3 years ago on Match, so I'd say it's a good way to go. Online dating is not for everyone, but if you're going to use one of the sites, Match is as good as any. I know people who met on Yahoo, Eharmony, and other sites, but Match gives you a good couple days free trial to check things out. Beware their "if you don't find someone in 6 months, you'll get 6 months free" deal. Turns out you have to be super active and contacting a lot of people to qualify for that offer. I'm not one to contact people I'm only luke-warm about, so the offer is not so great.
...

shwana05 says "Good education, small tight-knit campus" about Hood College

I graduated a few years ago and though there have been no doubt more changes to the campus since I left (mid-coed transition), I think it's still a great place to get an education if you're looking for a small campus, individual attention from professors, and a supportive social network.

I'm moderately liberal and so I may not have noticed as much an attitude toward conservative students that the previous reviewer mentioned, but I think that there are professors there on all points of the liberal-conservative spectrum and certain classes (poli sci, sociology) those opinions may come out. I was a soc/poli sci major and I came across classmates and professors of all viewpoints and remember lots of spirited, intelligent debates on a lot of *hot topic* issues.

My years at Hood were some of the best of my life and I came away with a greater sense of self and direction. I also came away with phenomenal friendships with people I consider more like family now.

Like all institutions, it has its...
...

shwana05 says "Year 3 into my personal boycott of Best Buy. Why you ask?" about Best Buy

Their tech people brought about the demise of my computer. Or, if it was a coincidence as they said, they at least stonewalled/bullied me out of the store to stop my complaints. Three years ago I was a poor recent college grad who wanted to connect to the wireless internet in her new apartment that her new roommates had set up.

So I lug my desktop computer tower over to Best Buy (where I bought it) to buy a wireless card and have them install it. Simple enough. When I return to pick it up, however, someone from their Geed Squad tells me that there was a virus on the computer that caused the entire hard drive to crash when they installed the card. Now this was a one-year-old computer w/virus protection and I'd never had any problems. I'm not a computer expert, so they could have been telling the truth, but even after I asked and asked, I did not get any more of a detailed explanation, just attitude from the employees.

They told me that my main option was to get a new hard drive and they would...
...

shwana05 says "Couldn't put it down" about Angels and Demons

If you like a great mystery that you won't be able to put down, get up right now and drive to your library and get Angels & Demons. I read the Da Vinci Code after reading this one, and this is definitely better. While there are twists and turns, it doesn't get as confusing as Da Vinci and so it makes for a more exciting read. I really didn't see the end coming!...

It's a little expensive but it's totally worth it! (plus it lasts a long time) A friend started selling Mary Kay so I thought I'd give it a shot and help her out, but I'm still using it even though she's moved on from consulting. I have combination skin and in the winter it gets very dry, but using the Time Wise kit has helped so much!

I recently switched to another type of cleanser to test it out, but when I went back to MK, my skin was noticably softer after the first use! Bravo to MK for creating great products.

I don't know about the anti-aging promises (I'm only 25) but it's great even for it's immediate benefits
...

shwana05 says "Not your average cop show" about Criminal Minds

In the age of Law & Order the original, CI, SVU, etc...CSI Miami, Las Vegas, New York... I'm tired of the same approach to crime shows! It's all the same all the time, until Criminal Minds came along. I know there have been shows about profilers before (The Profiler), but with the current set of shows on tv, it's a breath of fresh air.

It's got great suspense, drama, creative plot lines, and even a touch of humor here and there. I started watching because of Mandy Patinkin, but I think the show has gotten even stronger since he left. Joe Montagne is a great replacement and the switch has made the show more of an ensemble rather than Patinkin and his supporting cast.
...

shwana05 says "Just Hilarious!" about How I Met Your Mother

This is one of the best sitcoms to come along in a long time. It's actually laugh-out-loud funny! And it's not just me, my boyfriend (who is definitely not into sitcoms) laughs along with me - now that's saying something! How can you go wrong with Bob Saget narrating and Dougie Howser as a womanizing player? I'd watch the show just for his "sayings". I kinda hope he doesn't find the kids' mother because then the show's pretty much over...

shwana05 says "Simply the best workout on the market" about Gaiamthe Firm Body Sculpting System

I've been doing The Firm since this system in particular first came out but it still is one of my favorites! If you keep with the workouts, you will definitely see results and get toned. A friend introduced me to it in college and I was one of the few people who not only didn't gain the "freshman 15" but I lost over 30lbs!

This system comes with 3 dvds - Cardio Sculpt, Body Sculpt, and Ab Sculpt. Each has routines and exercises that are based in classic weight lifting moves. No gimmicks or techniques that won't work. I learned a lot of these moves in my college gym classes, but going to the gym on your own can be boring and it's a pain to keep writing your own program. The Firm takes care of that so you can just pop in a dvd and follow their lead.

I've continued on to other products from the Firm and love those as well, but this first system is so great that I'm still raving about it (and using it) 6 years later!
...

I have cat allergies and a boyfriend with a cat...so I picked up the 24 hour allergy and congestion Claritin D. It definitely works - no itchy nose or watery eyes or sneezing, but after awhile it can get expensive plus you have to give all your information when you buy it. I recently switched to regular Claritin and then to a generic drugstore version. Much cheaper and works just as great!
...
