shellibyrd says "So far so good!" about AAA-Auto Club

We've been with AAA only 6 mos so far but they were the lowest I could find when our policy renewed last time. I appreciate the membership benefits and travel help and discounts. I haven't had alot of experience and alot to share, but I don't have anything to complain about. My particular agent is very helpful and friendly, and always willing to take care of something right away.

I would definitely recommend that someone at least check out AAA to see how their rates compare with their current carrier.
...

shellibyrd says "Interesting storyline" about The Forbidden Kingdom

I love Jackie Chan, and since Fearless, Jet Li. I was never into the 70s kung fu movies, but when you get true artists like Jackie and Jet who are not spring chickens but don't give a clue when you watch them perform those stunts and some of those moves, it's on the level with a ballerina or ballroom dancer. It's like watching art and I loved that part of it. I have alot of respect for people that can do things I can't (things that are legal and moral, ethical, etc) and that's what this is. On top of it the storyline was interesting and I loved Jackie's "dual" character...If I say more it'll give away the end. I also loved Jet's dual character...did everyone catch that he was also the Monkey King at the beginning? My husband caught that.

Another of my favorite aspects of the movie was the "drop-ins" of Jackie's dry and hilarious sense of humor..."Don't you have a running monk?" I laughed out loud!!!

Definitely worth the 7.50 to see it!
...

shellibyrd says "Read the entire series in my late 30s...not just for kids!" about The Bad Beginning

This series of books is so creative and attention holding. It's not complex writing but the adventures of the Beaudelaire kids makes you want to adopt them yourself. They have so many bad things happen to them but they're so resourceful you feel like a proud parent every time they escape the clutches of the evil Count Olaf. Great reading for kids, just make sure they know it's pretend cuz it might be scary to little ones at times.
...

shellibyrd says "Didn't read it...don't want to" about Discovering the Golden Compass: A Guide to Philip Pullman's Dark Materials

I do not ever intend to read this book or watch the movie...I'm not one to FORCE my views on others, but any story that results in (from what I hear) some human actually killing
God (which is impossible anyway), well, it makes my stomach turn. It's trash like this that accomplishes Satan's purposes. I know that there are people that don't believe in
God, and though I feel sorry for them I respect their right not to believe. But to make a book/movie to try to appeal to children that would pollute their minds is irresponsible. It falls into the same category, I guess, as movies with too much violence or sex. The parent needs to make sure that their children are not seeing movies that will influence them in ways that the parent doesn't like or want for their child....

shellibyrd says "Laugh + Cry = *****" about Best Romantic Comedies: My Top List

Let's see...Top Ten Romantic Comedies...Good Grief...How about if I do top Five? It'll be too hard to think of 10 without getting up from my papasan chair!!!

1. WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING (Sandra Bullock/Bill Pullman) One of the sweetest movies I've ever seen (and I've seen a kajillion)...This would be one of my best recommendations. All Lucy wants is a family and someone to love and to be loved back and no one deserves it more. Her struggle to decide whether to reveal the truth or go with the flow makes for a hilarious storyline but one that brings tears to your eyes....both sad and happy.

2. 50 1ST DATES (Adam Sandler/Drew Barrymore) Another sweet comedy, and Adam isn't a complete boob in this one. His passion for a woman who can't remember him the next day and his sacrifice at being patient and willing to learn to live with that situation is heartwarming.

3. THE WEDDING SINGER (Adam Sandler/Drew Barrymore) Set in the 80s makes it totally awesome to begin with (my gen)...
...

shellibyrd says "Where has my show gone?!!!!" about Men in Trees

I loved Men in Trees from the first episode and have seen them all, but where are they now? I really hope ABC brings it back.

This show is quirky, like Northern Exposure was, but it is geared more toward women, I think. I enjoy the love stories, the side plots. It's all so much fun to watch and I really miss it. Each character is cast really well....

ABC, BRING BACK OUR SHOW!!
...

shellibyrd says "Can't wait for my contract to be over" about Centennial

We signed on with them in September 2007...I will admit to my naivete, because prior to Centennial I had only done prepays. Thinking there was some advantage to going contract I did so. I have found no advantages so far. I was mislead and/or lied to by the unethical salesman that helped us, I was greatly overcharged for my activation fee, then they tacked on late fees because I refused to keep paying the overcharge (I did send an explanation). It wasn't until I finally went into the store that things were all cleared up, but it was after months of stress and my blood pressure going up every time a bill came in. The only thing I have with Centennial that I didn't have with Net10 is a bill 5 times higher each month. I'll be going back to Net10 in September 2009...
