shaulina says "The chemistry, action, and humor on Bones is the perfect mix! " about Bones

I have been a fan of David's since Buffy. Yes, he had some growing pains as an actor that were evident while he played the dark, brooding Angel - and it showed when he broke into his own series. But he has found his niche! Watching him playing FBI agent Booth on Bones is terrific - he has the action background, he has the physique, he has the perfect lines to bring out his quirky sense of humor. Watch his facial expressions - he's gotten it. And his Booth character is a great complement with Bones - the serious, seemingly humorless anthropologist that is his partner (and love interest? Do we remember Moonlighting?) who helps him crack the murder cases. All in all, the show is terrific - plenty of action and subplots, good actors with chemistry, and even a little education!
...

shaulina says "Heartbreakers is one of those motivating 'woman' movies." about Heartbreakers

Heartbreakers is one of those movies to watch when you are in that "independent, take no crap, I am in charge" kind of mood. It has strong women characters in Jennifer Love Hewitt and Sigourney Weaver. Yes, they con men. They take charge of their lives in a not-so-nice (and not-so-legal) kind of way. The con is to marry men for money, and take nice hefty divorce settlements; and they surmise along the way that men are all lying, cheating jerks not worth anything but what they can get from them (new Mercedes anyone?). Even these women are susceptible to love, though, and realize that men can be good for something other than money. A movie to motivate the independent woman!...

shaulina says "Dean and Sam - how can you NOT love them?" about Supternatural: The Complete First Season

Supernatural is by far my favorite series on television right now. It has two absolutely terrific characters in Dean and Sam Winchester. With these two brothers kicking some supernatural butt, how can you just not love them? They have the sibling rivalry down - they get on each others nerves, but love each other in that "I'm a man so I won't say it" sort of way (especially Dean). And there is at least one time in every show that they say or do something that just cracks me up. I have the first 3 seasons on DVD (the only show I have bought ever season for) and they are definitely keepers!...

shaulina says "Firefly is ok, but not really worth the time invested." about Firefly - The Complete Series

Joss Whedon's Firefly, where do I start? I was really excited to watch this series when I borrowed the DVD's from a friend of mine. I was a Buffy and Angel fan, and I love the whole "life in space" idea. To have Whedon attack the space genre was wonderful. Unfortunately, I was sorely disappointed. I did watch the entire series out just sheer will (well, not the end of those I fell asleep during), but the entire experience just seemed to drag on forever. Maybe the length of the episodes contributed something to that effect, but I just couldn't seem to get into the "action" in the series. Sorry Joss....

shaulina says "Shrek is a big green warm fuzzy" about Shrek

Shrek is hilarious! It's wonderful when animated movies take the parents into account and include some humor that will go above the kids' heads, but make the adults roar with laughter! That's one of the wonderful things about this movie - it includes something for everyone. It does include some crude humor, though, so be prepared for your children to spend some time belching in appreciation!...
