sandbeach says "I would never recommend Visine" about Visine Eye Drops & 2/ 28oz Bottles 2/1 oz

Visine constricts the conjunctival blood vessels to reduce the redness; however, it's not recommended for long-term use. It will result in a rebound effect, where the blood vessels dilate and your eyes will become more red. — Red eyes is a sign of an underlying condition which should be addressed. Conjunctival redness can be a result of dry eyes, allergies, infections, or inflammations. First, you need to find the cause of the problem. Then there are topical eye drops and/or systemic medications that can resolve those issues. Visine is just masking the systems and not curing the problem. —...

sandbeach says "Ranked a best buy in Consumer Reports October 2007 issue" about Holmes Upright Space Heater

I'm reviewing the Holmes HQH319 and it does not come with a remote control, so I'm not sure what product the other reviewer was describing. This is an electric radiant heater with quartz tubes, so it's best for spot heating. If you have an area that is enclosed, it really heats up the room (ie. a bedroom where you can close the door). The best part of this heater is that the manufacturer warranty is six-years. I have read other reports where if the heater stops working, the manufacture does replace it. So, I felt more confident with this knowledge. Also, CR rated this a best buy in the Electric Radiant category. I like the one-touch button control, where you can select temperatures of 60, 65, 70, 75, and 80. it does feature a tip over function. If the heater falls, it automatically shuts off. The plastic housing material does not get hot, but the front metal screen does get hot. — In the October 2007 issue of...

sandbeach says "Season 7 has awesome special effects" about Smallville

For those who have never seen Smallville, it's a series about the life of Clark Kent before he became known as Superman. It's a cleverly written show, which tries to follow the comic book facts, but fills in the gaps of Clark's early years...in particular high school and college. The show can be viewed on the CW network and is filmed in Canada. The first episode begins with Clark's arrival on Earth from Krypton. As a toddler he is adopted by the Kent family. With time, they become aware of Clark's special powers and the need for them to be fine-tuned. Clark's own struggle with being Krytonian and wanting to be like everyone else can be comical. — I didn't start watching this series until Season 5. I had to rent the DVDs from Netflix to catch up on the previous seasons. Currently the show is on Season 7, with great special effects and interesting new characters (ie. Clark's cousin from Krypton, Kara). ...

sandbeach says "Not as reliable as my other imports" about Honda CRV 2001

Most of the vehicles I owned have been imports. This was my first Honda and my first SUV. I wanted to find a vehicle that was dependable in all weather conditions. The all-wheel drive was a huge selling point. In general, I really liked this vehicle even though I had some problems with it. At about 30,000 miles, the car would squeal with extreme turns (ie. a U-turn). It turned out I need to change the rear differential fluid. At 40,000 miles, the computer went out. Fortunately, it was still under warranty (8 years), since it would have cost me over $1000. The biggest conflict is the maintenance schedule. Mechanics and dealers recommend different maintenance schedules than the Honda manual...oil changes, rear differential fluid changes, everything. I would not buy another Honda CRV, because I prefer a vehicle with better gas mileage....

sandbeach says "One of the best tires I've owned" about Goodyear - Assurance TripleTred Tires

I researched these tires for several weeks before I purchased them. The Goodyear Assurance Tripletred tires were ranked very high by Consumer Reports. Also, there were outstanding reviews by owners of these tires. I purchased these tires on sale for $75 a tire, plus an additional mail-in-rebate. The factors I looked at in this purchase included a tire made by a reputable manufacturer, cost, handling ability on snow and in rain, smooth ride, and warranty (80,000 miles). At this point, I have only put on 3,000 miles on them but I am very satisfied. An added bonus was the appearance of the tire. The tread is very...
