samblum says "Best show on TV, DVD, Netflix" about The Office

The Office is hands down the best show on TV. The casting is perfect and the jokes are based on akward humor.

I recommend setting aside a large chunck of time and watching the shows from each season consecutively. That way you can follow the story and get any inside jokes from the prior shows.

Scrantonicity rocks!
...

samblum says "Short story that's food for thought" about Who Moved My Cheese?: An A-Mazing Way to Deal With Change in Your Work and in Your Life

I work for a large multinational company and was given "Who Moved my Cheese" at a corporate retreat. Unlike the rest of the material we were provided, this book gave me something worthwhile to think about. I would recommend this book to professionals young and old. It applies to anyone facing and managing change in their lives.

Overall, the book provided so good insight about change management. The story is oversimplified to make it easier to remember. However, life is not as simple as this book portrays. Change can be stressful for a number of reasons, some of which are more complex than this book would like you to believe.

That being said, the book provides some great lessons and I recommend you take a look. Staying simple has it's benefits for the reader, as it doesn't take much time to finish.
...

samblum says "Visionary entrepreneur tells it like it is" about Matt Moog Presentations

My review is based on Matt Moog's presentation to the George Washington University Alumni Association on September 19, 2007:

Matt had a very welcoming approach, which captivated listeners through common interests and backgrounds. He utilized his personal history in the business world to formulate insights on becoming a successful entrepreneur.

In my quest for personal entrepreneurial success, Matt touched upon three particularly influential items:

1) "Ninety percent of life is just showing up"--referring to the need to act and implement compared with discussing the potential of an idea alone.

2) Be flexible--a good business model will consistently change and fluctuate.

3) Even the most successful entrepreneurs cannot tell you how to plan your own career path.

Overall, Matt did a great job of staying on point, but was open to fielding questions at any time. Understanding he could not cover every topic, Matt adjusted his focus to the reactions of the audience.

If given the opportunity, I......

samblum says "Railroad down steep terrain to a gateway to the fjords" about Flam

Anyone traveling to Norway, should take the time to visit Flam by rail. It boasts one of the steepest railroad rides in the worlds and is well worth the trip. The town of Flam resides between a large incline and one of Norway's longest fjords. Although the town does not have much to offer, its senic location is breathtaking. www.visitflam.com...

samblum says "Small, reliable and everything you need" about Blackberry - Pearl Smartphone Cell Phone

Great for anyone on the go. The keyboard could be improved, but it's works well and keeps the size to a minimum--a plus for those looking for a truely pocket sized phone.

Although it doesn't have the storage capabilities of an iPhone, Blackberry arguably has the best software on the market. I will look for the next generation Pearl, but am very happy with the basic functions of this model.
...

Meiwah has the best Chinese food in DC. When you have to work late, they always provide fresh, non-greasy Chinese food perfect for vegetarians as well.

They are located near Foggy Bottom and in Chevy Chase, MD, but order early because can the deliveries take a while.
...

samblum says "Great college experience in Washington, DC" about George Washington Unverisity

Since graduating from GW last year, I can say that I had a great experience through the academics, internships and campus life.

My positive view was not shared by all and I know a good number of students that transfered after freshman year. However, freshman graduation rates are above 90%.

Overall, the school has raised the quality of its academics, but still has more work to do. Part of the problem is the high number of low paid adjunct professors. It is difficult to develop relationships with professors when they leave after 2 semesters.

The best thing about GW is the urban setting. While at GW I worked for congressman, wealth managers, economists and entrepreneurs all while attending classes. I also enjoyed running and biking to every monument in the city and having a number of bars/clubs to choose from on any given night.

The second best thing about the school is GW basketball. Rushing the court at the Smith Center after a game winning shot is a great feeling!

...
