row123ie says "Sturdy basic headlamp with adjustable light" about PEtzl Tikka Plus Headlamp

The PEtzl Tika Plus headlamp is great for camping and backpacking. It is easily adjustable to any sized head. It stays put when adjusted. It has good quality light for evening trips outside of the tent or dark trail conditions. It is a durable headlamp. The plastic parts take normal trail abuse very well. It is adjustable between low and high and also has a flashing light. It takes standard easily available batteries. It is an average price for a headlamp. It has all the features most hikers would need. I would recommend this headlamp to any of my backpacker friends looking for a durable, long lasting, quality headlamp.
...

row123ie says "Handy for hiking, budget friendly, basic hiking poles" about Komperdell Northern Lights Trekking Poles

Norther Lights hiking poles by Komperdell are basic sturdy hiking poles. They are easily adjustable, telescoping to a variety of heights, which allows you to adjust to changing conditions on the trail, without stopping for very long. They help with keeping your balance on the trail and reducing fatigue by balancing the weight of the backpack load more evenly. These poles are sturdy and well made. The cork handles are nice even in the rain. They are easy to grip. The paint holds up well. The weight is about average for hiking poles. They are well worth the money, if you are looking for a basic hiking pole.
...

row123ie says "The Therma Rest Trail Comfort sleeping pad is comfortable." about Therma Rest Trail Comfort Sleeping Pad

The Therma Rest Trail Comfort sleeping pad is tough and comfortable. It helps keep you off the damp ground. In rainy weather it is nice to be elevated more off the ground. It can help keep your bag dry when the ground below you is not. The mattress stands up to a lot of abuse. It helps insulate you from the cold ground. It packs tightly into a stuff sack. It can be a pain to get it to compress enough to get into the small stuff sack. It is standard gear for many backpackers in the Northwest Rockies where I hike. I don't hike without mine. It is heavier than some other sleeping pad options, but I like the comfort it provides.
...

row123ie says "These bottles take any trail abuse." about Nalgene Wide Mouth Lexan 16 oz. Bottle

Nalgene WideMouth Lexan bottles are tough. They can take getting dropped, kicked, tossed on a long hike. They are easy to put ice into because of their wide mouths. They are easy to clip onto a backpack with a carabiner. They take hot water or cold water, which makes them handy for backpacking. They fit well on a variety of water purifiers for the backcountry. They don't puncture like soft side waterbottles. I take mine with me during most of my activities including trail running, hiking, and walking around town. I like that I don't have to buy water bottles that will go in the landfill.
...

row123ie says "Nice colors-nice graphics." about Sigg Water Bottle

The Sigg water bottles are stylish and have a great choice for graphics . I have switched because of the recent health scare related to plastic bottles. I had been a devout Nalgene bottle user for years. I decided there was too much information against plastic bottles to ignore anymore, so I decided to switch. I also don't like buying bottled water. I don't like putting water bottles into the environment all the time. I found there are a lot of different metal water bottles out there. The pros are it is easy to get a tight seal on the bottle, which is important to me because I have had other bottles leak all over my gym bag. It has a hole in the top, which can be used with a clip, to hook it onto backpacks. The cons are that the bottles are easy to dent. I dropped in onto a tile floor, and put a dent in it almost immediately. I also know that they will split if frozen and are filled too full. I also wish mine was a wide mouth. I can't get ice cubes into the bottle. My bottle is also...
...

row123ie says "Depend on this stove when you really need it." about MSR Whisperlite

It's a trustworthy stove that we can depend on no matter where the trail takes us. It is easy to light and use, but it does take a little practice to learn how to fit it all together. It puts out a strong flame that boils water quickly, when you really need your cup of coffee in the morning. I find it difficult to get a low flame to simmer. There are lighter stoves out there, but I'm happy with it's sturdy dependability. The windscreen is a necessity and it is a little tippy. It is a design that packs easily. No problems with clogging for us so far after 2 years of use.
...

I am very happy with my Lyell sleeping bag. It's on the heavier side of down bags, but it is rugged and resists water well. I'm a cold sleeper and I stay warm in it during 3 season use in Northwest Rockies. ...
