ronicajo says "A truly great beginning to a thrilling trilogy" about Uglies

This is a wonderful fantasy book. It is typically read by JH and HS students. It is about a girl who lives in a futuristic society that when a child reaches a certain age they undergo an operation to become "pretty" but until then, they are "ugly." Uglies and pretties do not live in the same 'town.' Hee best friend becomes pretty before she does and she meets a new friend who encourages her to thing differently. — I found this to be a very interesting, thought provoking book. The other books in the series are Pretties and Specials. — ...

ronicajo says "Made me think about a different society" about The Giver

I love recommending this book to my students. This is such a great book about thinking about what is real and what is 'presented.' I use this to encourage students to form their own thoughts and opinions, not just those they are told, or exposed to. — I highly recommend anyone reading this. I just read this last year, and I still think about it from time to time. —...

ronicajo says "The second in an amazing series" about New Moon

Although not as great as the first, it is still a good read. I am a 7th grade teacher and my students are fighting over this series. — I suggest a reread. I think so many readers try to get to the part when a certain vampire returns, they cannot see the wonderful character developing that is Jacob Black. — I cannot wait, nor can my students, for book 4! —...

ronicajo says "Great car for a family with style" about Dodge Charger - 2007

I got my Charger back in May when I knew that I would be commuting. I did not want a 'family' car, but a car that was good for the family. I have two kids and I still look hot in this car with their carseats in it! — It is such a smooth ride with great gas mileage. The trunk is huge! When we go on trips we can haul all the things we need in the back leaving plenty of room in the car. — Both my husband and I are tall people. I usually have to have my seat all the way back in most cars, but this one I don't! Plenty of leg and head room, but still a sleek look. I doubt I will ever drive another car (just newer Chargers!)...

ronicajo says "A slow moving, psychological study of this historic event" about The assasination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford

This movie is a thought provoking look at a part of history in a time of outlaws and robbers. Longer than most and slow in parts, I never wanted to leave to go to the concession stand! — Brad Pitt does an outstanding job portraying Jesse James in the last few weeks of his life. Casey Affleck does a supurb job as the sometimes childlike, unitelligent Robert Ford. — I would watch this movie again, as I believe that I would catch things that I might have missed before. However, it did leave me slightly disturbed when I left the theater and I thought about this movie for days....
