I stongly recommend Geotrax....for both boys and girls. My 2 kids will play for hours with Geotrax...and mommy loves making new layouts!  There are so many different designs you can make, especially with the elevation tracks.  The only drawback, is that the toy takes up a lot of room, but it is easy to put together and take down when the kids are done...
