rivercruiser says "As reliable as it gets!" about Kenmore Washer

My Kenmore washing machine has been in my family for over 18 years. The only issue issue we have had with it is having to replace a rubber bushing connecting the motor to the tub. I actually bought that used and it has held up well for the last 10 years. The outer shell shows normal and significant wear and tear from use and 3 moves between residences, but like the Energizer Bunny, it keeps going and going!...

rivercruiser says "Lots of features, most of which I do not use!" about LG - CU400 Cell Phone

Switched back to Cingular/ATT and bought this after a disaster of an experience with Sprint service. I like the camera and video features. Options for data transfer too easily accessible. Just bumping a button by accident started dialing and trasnsmitting (and adding 'signon' charges to my bill). Had them restrict the PTT and text messaging options to avoid accidental dialing. Occasionally seems to drop phone numbers from phone book via unexplained event. Battery last 4-5 days of stand-by mode. Camera has come in handy more times than I expected it would!...

rivercruiser says "Cute novelty, but not too practical!" about Shift3 5.in.1 Color Changing LCD Alarm Clock

We bought one of these for a last minute Christmas gift. It was relatively inexpensive and was compact, but once we opened the package to put batteries in it, we realized it was not as readable as the 'fake time' sticker made us expect it to be. You have to look at it at just the right angle to be able to read it and the crystal reflects a lot of glare so it is still a bit hard to read the time. Two stars for 'cutesy factor' but would not buy another one....

rivercruiser says "They have a chronic way of messing up the simplest things." about Countrywide Home Loan Company

We have used Countrywide twice (and currently) and they have both times grossly miscalculated the final cost for monthly payments and/or other fees which ended up drastically changing our monthly payments. Most recently, they miscalculated our home insurance 'upfront' money and did not catch their mistake until 6 months later, placing an additional $800 on our monthly amount right at Christmas which happened to be just what we had available in our Christmas Club account. We were told how much short our escrow would be and paid it in 2 payments to "catch-up" with the escrow shortage. Then we were told we were $161 still short because of another employee's miscalculation. It has been very frustrating and annoying to deal with, not to mention very inconvenient financially....

rivercruiser says "It seems to be slow in loading games and startup drags!" about Sony PlayStation - 2 Console

We purchased this system as a Christmas gift for my 14 year old son. I did not want to spend $130 for it but it came with a $30 gift card so that made it a bit more palateable(sp). I thought the graphics were above average and speed once the game loaded was satisfactory. It is quite compact and can slide into a narrow space so it is not obtrusive or in the way. My son is getting a good bit of use out of it, so in that way, it was a good deal....

rivercruiser says "It was a gift;if I were buying it for myself, I would look for a different brand!" about Micro Innovations Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Model # KB985W

Micro Innovations dot com makes a wireless internet keyboard and mouse combo which worked initially, but failed after 2 days. I took it back to Burlington Coat Store where it was purchased to exchange it since I did not have the receipt. The store was accommodating with the exchange. When I loaded the new software drivers, the CD included the "Infostealer.Gompass" virus. I emailed the company (Microinv.com) from their website and they responded with a generic email which did not address my concerns about the virus. I was able to download a clean version of the drivers from the website however and it is working fine now, though you have to occasionally click the connect button on the bottom of the keyboard and/or mouse to maintain the wireless signal. I guess it "goes to sleep" if you are not using it constantly. Model # KB985W...

rivercruiser says "In a word, AWESOME!!! " about Nikon - COOLPIX P2 Digital Camera

This is such an awesome camera for the price. Have had it for about a year and a half. Great options on aperture, focus, resolution and such. I recently accidentally dropped it in a parking lot when the wrist strap broke. It hit the asphalt from about a 4 foot drop and did not even scratch it. Still works great!...

rivercruiser says "Great for car camping-too heavy to backpack Batteries drain fast" about Coleman Tent Light

It is not a great quality item. Battery compartment clips can break somewhat easily just trying to open to change batteries (AA). Better for car camping but backpacking would add a lot of extra weight when every ounce counts. Even with new batteries, it does not get very bright with the included light bulb....
