qrx22 says "All around great product" about Garmin - nuvi 350 GPS Receiver

This is often a highly rated GPS unit, for good reason. It's easy to use right out of the box, and the small portable size (about the size of a PDA) means I can jam it in my purse every time I leave my car. The built-in battery means I can take it walking with me. There's even a pedestrian function on the unit!

The unit speaks street names which is a big help. Instead of "turn right in 0.1 miles", it says for example, "turn right on Washington Street". On that note, it also has funny quirks which I don't mind too much. For example, when telling you "turn right on Martin Luther Dr" it speaks "Martin Luther DOCTOR" rather than "Martin Luther DRIVE", and does this anytime a street name contains "DR"

On the downside, the unit is pretty expensive compared to the competition. It also comes with a bad quality suction mount that won't stick after a couple weeks use. For such an expensive unit, the cheap suction mount is a disappointment. If you buy the Garmin friction mount...
...

qrx22 says "Better off using your cell phone camera" about Philips - P44417S Digital Camera

I bought this at Walmart for around $17-18. It comes in all kinds of cool colors like metallic pink, metallic blue, classic silver, and now even translucent plastic colors. For less than $20, I figure I'll give it a try.

First off is the cool factor. Your friends will be wowed that the tiny thing is a real digital camera. It also works as a videocam with the included USB cable. It's advertised as the world's smallest digital camera. Talk about cool!

So the camera worked the first few times, and I was happy with the results. For a digital camera this small and this cheap, I didn't have high expectations. The photos are decent, as long as you have good lighting (forget about taking pictures in low lighting). So it worked the first few times, and then after that, something happened, maybe a static shock or something, and the darn thing doesn't work anymore! It takes the photo, according to the little picture counter display, but as soon as I plug it into the computer, the...
...
