garbi01 says "An entertaining movie for the entire family" about "Night at the Museum:Battle of the Smithsonian"

Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian is the sequel to the original where Larry Daley, played by Ben Stiller, spent the night at the museum where all the exhibits came to life.

This movie is much of the same. The first fifteen minutes are spent giving Larry a reason to go to DC and spend the night in the bowels of the Smithsonian. Once there, the battle is on between ancient Pharoh Kahmunrah (Hank Azaria) and his band of thugs such as Ivan the Terrible, Ghengis Kahn and Napolean. Larry is aided by carryovers from the first movie like Octavius and Jedidiah (Owen Wilson and Steve Coogan) plus Amelia Earhart (Amy Adams) and General George Custer (Bill Hader). The new characters are fun and fresh and make the sequel worth seeing.

The movie alternates between the fast paced zaniness that entertained the kids and the witty dialogue that I enjoyed. The scene in the air and space museum is the best, when all of the rockets and planes come to life. It is pure chaos. For some reason, the...
...

I personally didn't really like the night at the museum 2: battle of the smithsonian. i actually kind of thought that it sucked. me and my cousin went together thinking it was going to be amazing but it really didn't meet or standards. I think that there were really only two things that me and my cousin enjoyed and those were the fact that the bad guy had a lisp (that really did help with how disappointing the rest of it was.) and the cupids. the only reason we liked the cupids is because we thought that they oddly enough looked a lot like the Jonas brothers and the fact that they sounded just like them. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be like that and nobody told me but those two things are the only reasons i would even mention this movie to anybody. Although i do there solution to "technology moving forward". (by this i mean the end of the movie where they are all "machines".) But thats what i thought about the movie... sorry if you liked it and i somehow offended you.

I am a Ben Stiller Fan and following in the footsteps of his previous movie, this one did not hit me as the first.

As the first was fun and fast, so was the second but this one focused on specific characters and though I think Amy Adams and Owen Wilson are funny, Hank Azaria was hysterical but would have loved to see him involved with the other historical figures.

My kids and I went to see the movie Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian last night and they loved it. I thought it was a great family friendly movie and appropriate for all ages. I liked how they brought most of the old characters from first movie back. I also liked the action. I think we will have to buy this movie when it comes out on DVD.
...

LauraBelle says " Losing Old Friends, But Finding New Ones " about "Night at the Museum:Battle of the Smithsonian"

There was only one thing i was missing from the original Night at the Museum as I watched its sequel, and that's the great older actors Dick Van Dyke, Mickey Rooney, and Bill Cobbs as the older retiring security guards. I understand that they retired in the first one, but couldn't they have found some way to bring them back in a cameo or something. Their humor, especially Rooney's, was missed, yet there were some all new friends to appreciate, mostly in the form of favorite people from history.

Ben Stiller is back as Larry Daley, but it seems he's had some great success since the last movie. He developed a glow-in-the-dark flashlight and began selling it on infomercials, along with many other products. He pays a visit to his old stomping grounds at the museum and finds they're phasing out some of the more popular figures at the museum and replacing them with interactive holograms. Some of the old favorites such as Teddy Roosevelt (Robin Williams) and Ahkmenrah (Rami Malek) stay behind,...
...

Very seldom is a sequel as good as the original and even rarer is when the sequel is even better. In most cases the sequel is worse and such is the case with "Night of the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian".

What was a good idea in the original--bringing museum pieces to life--is way overdone here. The animation, the special effects, are stunning and making paintings and photographs as sets for action amazes the audience.

So what's wrong?? After a 1/2 hour the effects become excessive and the story intrudes which, as in the first movie, is to teach Ben Stiller a life lesson. I found myself nodding off more than once while waiting for a laugh which are few and far between.

I don't think acting even counts/matters in a film like this though there is an all star cast playing characters ranging from Rodin's "The Thinker", Teddy Roosevelt, Al Capone (in black and white), Ivan the Terrible, a cowboy, Pocahontas, pharaohs, not to forget Lincoln and the Lincoln Memorial!!!
...
