KathyNY says "Trusted brand name." about Holmes Upright Space Heater

The Holmes Upright space heater is a great product. It's easy to use. It is light weight. It keeps the area warm. It has a great safety feature. If it tips over it will shut off. If you touch it you won't get burned though. It's a great value for your money. I like that it's light weight so it's easy to move it from one room to the next. That was important to me when selecting a space heater....

geot says "The Holmes Tower Heater will definitely keep you warm and cozy." about Holmes Upright Space Heater

We bought the Holmes Tower Quartz heater with Max Flow in the winter of 2006. We have a three bedroom home and sometimes sit together in the family room to watch tv. Friends who visit us say it is warm and cozy in our home even though the large furnace is not on. The tower heater has low and high settings on one dial and the other dial has a thermostat setting from low to high with ten selections for settings. It has an easily distinguishable red reset button on the back. If the heater is accidentally knocked over or even tilted it will automatically shut off. The model number is MQH305. It was a bargain on sale for 29.99. They can be found in stores like Tagets; Walmart and even Walgreens. It is a great deal for the money. The tower style heater gives more warmth than the lower flat rectangular style heaters. If you are money concious but want a product that works, the Holmes Tower heater is a great choice....

Moonwind says "This heater does what we want it to and was a reasonable price!" about Holmes Upright Space Heater

We bought this heater recently after looking at several different brands and models. It was an excellent choice for us. We heat mostly with a woodstove and have backup electric heat, which can get quite expensive. Since there are only two of us, and my husband works 12 hr shifts, it is not always practical to build a fire. We keep the electric heat down so that it will only turn on if it gets really cold, so that the pipes won't burst. I use this heater in either the bathroom or bedroom mostly. What I do is turn it on just for short periods of time. It warms the area of the room I am in quickly. It is terrific for first thing in the morning and in the evening or night when it is really cold out. It is quite safe,durable,inexpensive,nice-looking, and reliable. I would highly recommend it. It keeps our utility bill down. My husband came home from work yesterday and said that one of our friends just bought the same kind and is using it in his unheated garage that has electrical outlets....

sandbeach says "Ranked a best buy in Consumer Reports October 2007 issue" about Holmes Upright Space Heater

I'm reviewing the Holmes HQH319 and it does not come with a remote control, so I'm not sure what product the other reviewer was describing. This is an electric radiant heater with quartz tubes, so it's best for spot heating. If you have an area that is enclosed, it really heats up the room (ie. a bedroom where you can close the door). The best part of this heater is that the manufacturer warranty is six-years. I have read other reports where if the heater stops working, the manufacture does replace it. So, I felt more confident with this knowledge. Also, CR rated this a best buy in the Electric Radiant category. I like the one-touch button control, where you can select temperatures of 60, 65, 70, 75, and 80. it does feature a tip over function. If the heater falls, it automatically shuts off. The plastic housing material does not get hot, but the front metal screen does get hot.

In the October 2007 issue of Consumer Reports, the #1 ranked heater is the Honeywell HZ-519. ...
...

assisi says "Cheap and not worth it." about Holmes Upright Space Heater

My experience with Holmes heaters is that they are inexpensive, but do not last a long time. They also do not do a good job of spreading the heated air through a room. The construction values are marginal. The consumer is better served by spending slightly more and buying the Vornado space heater. It is durable, does a great job of moving air, offers good design and color choices, and has served me well for many winters without turning on the big furnace....

The space heating is good for a little room for quick warm up. not for long term use. The remote is good to control all the functions in the unit. The unit itself is at a good height about 30" and small but average power level for averge rooms...
