sansbw says "Never highspeed" about FrontierNet

Have been with Frontier Communications for our dsl service for almost 4 years. In that time I've watched our download speeds drop to as low as .24 mps and is never higher than 1.1 mps. Between the hours of 4PM and about 11PM our service is as slow as dial-up. Unfortunately, we live in a rural area of PA with few options. The local cable service only offers highspeed down/dialup for uploads and satellite is expensive and unreliable. If a fiber optic line ever ran down our little country road I would leave Frontier in a heartbeat.
...

Cruciel says "Want slow speeds, up to 30% packet loss, and awful tech support?" about FrontierNet

Among many things, the local tech support they have hired are all over the age of 30 and more-than-likely uncertified redneck ignorant ... I think I'll stop there. They have 100s of Information Technology and Information Systems students to choose from if the needed more qualified employees. Here's the bottom line about this company: THEY DO NOT CARE!

Let me explain to you how their process works. They get you to sign a contract saying "You must pay us for x amount of time in order to get our service" where x equals most likely more than a year. They also are the only local DSL company in Statesboro, so they have even less of a reason to care. They provide DSL to all of the student housing apartments, meaning the lease offices pay for their services in bulk and include the actual DSL fee into each student's individual rent. This is why this company continues to suck on and on for years and years without improving the quality of its lines.

Since I've moved to Statesboro, the connection has......

tweezle says "Over the past 2 years, DSL speed has dropped significantly!!!" about FrontierNet

My husband is a systems analyst, so he requires speed to be able to work from home. When we signed up with Frontier, we were guaranteed a speed of no less than 1MB. We were pleased with both the speed and the service. For a little over a year, we had absolutely no complaints. Sadly, when Frontier ran their promotion giving a free computer with the purchase of DSL, we watched our speed dwindle - especially after 4pm and on weekends. This made it difficult to impossible for my husband to work from home. There were nights he'd be called for a problem that he couldn't fix because our service was comparable to the service we had with dial-up. He would have to go in to work and fix a simple problem that could have been done from home.

When Frontier was contacted, they said they never had an offer where speeds were guaranteed above 1MB - and they've only had DSL service UP TO 1MB!! Exactly what does "UP TO" mean? Interesting that they never offered a high speed DSL, because when we signed the......

As someone else said on another message board "AVOID FRONTIER LIKE THE PLAGUE"! THEY ARE HORRIBLE! You would think when you were payinig like $20 a month a telephone company(Citizens Communications Company) would give you good service but this company gives you the lowest connection speeds of any company and disconnects you on top of it!

...

We have had Frontiernet dial up for over 5 years, is a good system very little down time due to problems. Only dial up available in our area, high speed is supposed to be coming but not available yet....
