I went hiking and I actually found my Yorkie there. She is full yorkie and was about 10 weeks when we found her. At first neither us nor the vet thought she could her but over time that has improvred.

They are very hyper dogs who love to run and play. She also loves to fetch but one started she will play so hard till she throws up so we do have to make her calm down some.

Unless you are going to keep there hair short then they have to be brushed daily if not you will have a lot of knots. (I keep mine short).

Not great dog for kids. They are fragile and they can knip you if you are not careful when playing (and they love to play).
...

I have a nine month old yorkie and he is very lovable and full of energy. I also have two other dogs that are mixed shepard breeds (female). He hadn't been with us for more than a week and he was already getting along with my other dogs and learning his place in our family. These are great dogs for families with older children. If you have young children in your family and you are thinking of getting a yorkie you should think again. Yorkies don't like to be bothered by excited children and may snap in self defense. Other than the little kid thing, they are great dogs to keep around.
...

I have been a yorkie owner since 1995. I am 48 years old and have had pets all my life. Previously, have had chihuahuas. I just thought I loved a particular breed until I got my first yorkie! These little guys are absolutely beautiful. They are so loyal and loving, very appreciative, and make perfect companions for apartment dwellers and people with little to no yard. Mine have had the sweetest dispositions. However, they tend to be loyal to one particular person in the household. If your that person, they just love you to pieces! I would recommend this breed over all others!
...

As a Yorkie owner of multiple dogs I find myself very protective of the breed. Why would you want any other dog...have you not played with a Yorkie, loved a Yorkie or watched a Yorkie. They come in a wide variety of sizes, colors and temperment, but they all are adorable. They become part of the family as soon as they enter your life. They are great security, they bark as if they as bigger. They will love you no matter what kind of day they had. And they are small enough to only take a very little amount of space...a bowl for food, a bowl for water and your lap..what else do they need. Try one out...you'll never look back..well, only if your Yorkie is following you. But don't tell everyone...it's a dog secret we only tell certain people.
...

I will soon own a dog grooming shop. I groom a lot of Yorkies. They are my absolute favorite of all the dogs I work with. I have actually been thinking about breeding them. So small and cuddely. If you like small dogs. And don't mind brushing them. Remember. to always brush your Yorkie to keep them from matting. But, if you like small, tiny dogs then a Yorkie is for you. I'm taking the first one I can get my hands on.
...

katiedee says "Most loving and personable dog - LOVES everyone!" about Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie

When my daughter was given a Yorkie puppy as a gift she was living in an apt. and she quickly learned that her roommates were intolerable of pets. So as not to leave him homeless he came into our home and joined our other two dogs - a chihuahua and mixed sheltie/pom. We've had the Yorkie for three years now and he is the most loving dog I could have ever hoped for. He is definitely not a lap dog, but he loves to snuggle with the other two dogs. He likes to think he is their best buddy. He loves to play ball with a tennis ball and is so energetic. He loves his walks and would spend all day walking if he could. I have a doggie door that gives all the dogs free run of the house and yard, so there is never any problem with using the bathroom in the house. On the occasions that it does occur is when it's raining outside. I can understand how they must feel, so it's not an issue with us. Dogs are dogs.

Yorkies do require constant grooming to keep their hair from getting matted. ...
...

I wanted to write this to anyone who is considering a yorkshire terrier. They are great companions and very sweet and friendly to the people they trust. Sometimes they get scared and can be mean around crowds because they dont know those people and some people just think their cute little playthings. My yorkie is extreamly confident and will try to take on the biggest dog on the block even though shes the smallest.

The one main negative about yorkies and small dogs is their pretty stubborn at being house broken. Ive had mine for 2 years now and I can take her out and shell go potty outside and when I bring her in she poops inside! I also think that shes trying to let me know whos in charge.

Overall I have found this breed very compatable. I do not have kids yet so I cannot comment on how family friendly they are with the little ones. The only thing I would say is if a kid likes to be rough with animals avoid a yorkie because they will not tolerate that.
...

Six years ago I was in a local pet store who only purchases dogs from breeders, not puppy mills. I saw this little Yorkie in the bed and I picked him up. I walked with this dog on my shoulder for an hour. I was hooked. However, the price was sky high. Such a high price for a little dog. I put the dog back and walked out. To my surprise I received the dog as a gift 5 days later.

Bentley. That's my dog name. He is so smart. Have you ever seen the bumper stickers, "My Yorkie is smarter than your honor student"? Well, that is him. He learned his name in 3-5 days. He was house trained, on puppy pads, within a week. It took a while for him to learn to go up and down the stairs as he was smaller then them! The dog knows so many commands, sit, come, toy, upstairs, downstairs, outside, leash, walk, front yard, back yard, car, bye-bye, treat, food, kitche, bed time, night night, etc... he learned all by just talking to him daily. I never had to sit with him and train him....
...
