pitcherday says "As good as the take-out White Castles? Heck, if I know!" about White Castle Microwavable Hamburgers

I did not grow up eating sliders from White Castle. I only even had sliders from a fast-food joint three or four times, and they were from Krystal's in Texas. I really loved those! Alas, no Krystal's or White Castle in Iowa...

I tried these frozen White Castle burgers because I wanted something for a little snack. I really like them, but I can tell they won't be for everyone. They don't really taste like hamburger to me. Does anyone remember Steak-Umms? Another strange tasting "meat" product. But the package says it's beef.

I like that the bun comes out all soft. Usually, bread that has been microwaved gets really hard on the edges, but these don't. They are about the same size as the sliders from Krystal's - about two bites worth. I wouldn't buy these if you are looking for a complete meal - you'll probably eat the whole box, and they are NOT nutritionally sound, if you know what I mean. 13g of fat for two of them with 25% of it saturated!

I only pop one in my mouth when I am hungry,...
...

White Castle Microwaveable Hamburgers just aren't the same as the real thing. There is nothing like going to White Castle and carrying home a bag a their hamburgers while you are driving in the car . The smell of the hamburgers makes you want to pull over and eat right there. Yes these microwaveable are convenient and if you can't get out to get the 'real' thing, they would have to do. But I don't like the taste of the hamburger after being stuck in the freezer. In my opinion, They do not compare to the real thing.
...

Well--honestly if you can't get real white castle sliders, you CAN find a recipe online that comes pretty close! If I am going to put salt and grease in me, it's got to taste good!

The recipe I found calls for a jar of baby food beef or liver mixed in with the hamburger meat. Don't bother to try making them healthy, that's part of the enjoyment of a slider!

I too remember way back when---but I travel to Chicago enough that I can get a slider or three on the way home. You have to eat them right there in the car, they don't taste good reheated either. I think the "southern" version is called "krystals".
...

I moved to the South seven years ago. While there is a lot to experience and enjoy here, I do miss certain things from my youth in the Midwest. White Castle Burgers remind me of fun times cruising the boulevard and stopping off at the "castle" for a late night snack. A very yummy comfort food best served at 3:00 AM. Particularly good when you add extra pickles, cheese and mustard. Yes, you could go to the Southern alternative, but for the deal and for real convenience stop by your local freezer section....

I've always wanted to try White Castle Burgers, I've seen them in the store ever since I was old enough to shop and one day I decided to buy a box and give them a try.

They're small, but they're good. I ate two as a snack and really loved the flavor and how easy they were to cook. they microwaved in about a minute, right in the little cellophane bag and they cooled down pretty fast too, so you don't have to burn your mouth when you can't wait to sink your teeth into it!

I probably could have eaten the whole box, but I restrained myself (somehow!) the box was $3.49 and you got 6 of them, so its not bad. I'm not sure if I'll ever buy them again, but I'm glad I tried them!
...

You can't go wrong with White Castle. I have had a couple of time and quick and easy. My husband will buy these all the time to take to work or for a quick meal at home. They don't get soggy in the microwave. They have just enough in a box to fill up my husband. They are easy to eat because of their size and flavor is definitely there even with just onions on it.
...

I remember eating White Castle microwaveable burgers when I was younger, but I'm pretty sure I didn't like them then.

So, when my boyfriend asked me if I wanted some a few weeks ago, my first thought was "Ew, no". But after about ten minutes of browsing through the fridge & not finding anything else that looked appetizing, I caved.

We heated some up (with a slice of cheese on mine, since I hate just plain hamburgers), & I tried to scrape the onions off, but it wasn't working. The burger was too hot. So, I sucked it up & took a bite, onions & all.

Too my surprise, it actually wasn't bad. As a matter of fact, I thought it was great. Nowhere near as bad as I remembered them being when I was younger. After finishing that one, I made my boyfriend heat me up another.

I seriously hate onions, but I could actually tolerate these. And I can't say that the "real thing" (the ones you get at an actual White Castle restaraunt), since I've never been to one, but I can tell you that......

You probably won't like this product if you have never had a White Castle burger. I go to school in a place where there is not a White Castle. Until I get home to the real thing, these frozen burgers are the next best thing! They microwave very easily. And they are tasty as well! They of course aren't the real thing. But I was expecting a lot less! They are not expensive and remind me of being little again. They are just like I remember in the little snack size with the tasty onions. The cheeseburger ones are great too! By the way, White Caslte steams their burgers, and the microwave kind of does this to them, weird huh? But Good!
...

Telpher says "Only thing missing is the stainless steel countertop" about White Castle Microwavable Hamburgers

This review comes with a caveat: if you weren't raised on the east coast, and never went to a White Castle fast food restaurant as a kid, you will probably HATE these. I've never met anyone who tried these first as an adult and loved them. On the other hand, those of us who were raised with the real White Castle will find nostalgic joy in White Castle frozen burgers. Fellow east coasters will LOVE having access to these.

When I was a kid, the White Castle restaurants in our area were completely made of stainless steel: steel counters, steel tables, steel benches. Unlike other fast food places, White Castle always seemed really, really clean (I guess because stainless teel is easy to wipe down and keep clean between customers.) White Castle was always a treat...we'd only get to go a few times a year but, oh, did we savor those times! Part of the joy was the fact that the burgers were not only square, but tiny. Dad would order several bags of burgers and a few orders of fries, and we'd all...
...
