We've had our front loader for 15 months until it started displaying SUDS error message. We use HE liquid detergent so where did the suds come from. Then the dreaded F35 showed and the machine would just shut down. We removed front kick panel and checked the pump and tub to check if there was anything caught inside ... nothing. We ran diagnostics and got stuck with the first test - C00 before getting the F35.

Before this we had a Kenmore top loader for 13 years with only one problem - console light bulb went out.
...

Whirlpool Duet Steam WFW 9500 TW 01, front loading washer only 1 1/2 years old - We travel a lot so we have not used this machine much since we purchased it. It started showing Suds light but it worked for a while then F35 error code started. I unplugged the machine, plugged it back in as the Whirlpool website recommended and it worked that way a couple of times. Now it's not working at all. I had other top loading washers and they lasted almost 10 years without problems. This is my first front loading machine. I wish I could get the old one back.
...

karlarhea says "The Whirlpool Duet Washer is NOT dependable." about Whirlpool Duet Washer - Front Load

We bought this Whirlpool Duet Front-Loading Washing Machine (and its companion dryer) because they came highly recommended by the salesman and a friend, and they sport great energy reviews. In fact, it's very difficult if not impossible to prove any energy or water savings. The machine does an acceptable job of cleaning, and the tub is quite large. It will not, however, hold as many pair of jeans as advertised, and I'm not talking about super-large sized jeans, either. The machine is a bit awkward to load and empty; I often drop clean clothes on the floor. If you buy the platforms to raise the machines, that problem is improved, but you can no longer use the top of the machine to sort or fold clothing. My main complaint is the lack of durability/dependability. This machine has been serviced 3 times in 4 years and appeared to be quite difficult to repair as one "fix" didn't hold for even a week, and a new computer and two more trips were required. Two different repair men told...
...

ditchqueen says "not good- class action lawsuit" about Whirlpool Duet Washer - Front Load

The whirlpool duet washer has a class action lawsuit against it due to excessive black mold growth in the door.

I have had this machine for about 2 years. It is consitantly broken. Currently we have the F11 code, which means it is a control module. It is always expensive to fix this machine. The door gasket alone is about $150.00 not including labor charges. It is around $75 just to have someone look at this machine. I would wait and purchase a machine in a few years when they get more reliable. For now stick with a top loader.
...

The machine works great, but only when it works. the actual machine seems to be solidly built. but the electric system is all screwed up. the machine can complain and blink error codes for hours for no good reason.

bottom line you do not want to pay full price for a product that can not be used 100% of the time. I would gladly change back to my 10 year old top loader, that i got rid of. what a mistake.

hoosurgrl says "Whirlpool Duet I don't find the excitement!!!" about Whirlpool Duet Washer - Front Load

I have now owned My Whirlpool Duet for four years, and still can't feel the excitement for it. When I first saw that beautiful washer and dryer; I couldn't stop thinking about having those in my laundry room. Needless to say my dream came true. Unfortunatly the washer takes at least 40 to 45 minutes to wash a losd and that is set at normal wash. To do the sanitary wash thats one hour of using pure HOT water how is that energy wise MR. Whirlpool???. And then to dry it takes another hour OR more. And I set that to heavy thinking it would get hotter and dry quicker. And the wrinkles it set in at any temperature is ridiculous.... So sorry Whirlpool I am not Happy.. And I am now in the process of selling them.. I hope you improve this problems..... Even though I will never be aware because I will not be buying a Duet any time..
...

I have had my Whirlpool Duet washer for almost 3 years and have hated it almost as long. There are only 2 of us in the house and we don't produce that much laundry, yet I find I have to do 2 loads of colored clothes instead of the one I used to be able to do with my old top load. The capacity stinks, maybe that is my fault, I thought with only 2 of us I didn't need the larger capacity (and consequently larger bill!). Forget washing a single item, like the dog's blanket, half of the time when it is supposedly 'done' it is SOAKING wet because it didn't spin out so I have to put it back on the spin cycle and hope this time it will spin out. The cycles take FOREVER to run, at least an hour a load, unless you do a 'quick load' and the drying time is NOT that much less, as they would lead you to believe and sometimes, the dryer tells you it is done and it isn't. Forget washing 1 set of sheets together with 2 bath towels, 2 hand towels and a face cloth, the sheets get so twitsted up...
...

I have owned the Whirlpool Duet HT GHW9250ML1 Washing Machine since 2004. I purchased mine with the optional pedestal (drawer that opens out to store your detergents, fabric softeners and hangers). It raises the dryer height about 13 inches making the total unit height 15 inches.

The washing machine has many features: electronic controls, woolmark, smart dispensers, auto water level, larger load size, suspension system, stainless steel drum, high efficiency wash system, spin speeds, heating element, ACCUWASH automatic temperature control, add-a-garment, CATALYST cleaning action with direct injection, efficient detergent system, dynamic off-balance detection. The washer has the following wash cycles: wool, silk, delicate/casual, quick wash, bulky items, normal, heavy duty, whitest whites and sanitary with a few manual cycles: hand washables, soak, rinse/spin and drain/spin. It has an LED status indicator: delay wash, add a garment, soak/pre-wash, wash, rinse, spin, cycle...
...

I have had this washer for awhile now and I really love it. I like the drawer for detergent, bleach and fabric softener but I sometimes have a hard time finding the HD detergent. Tide breaks out my skin but that seems to be the most popular brand of HD detergent. You can do large loads and my granddaughters ages 4-8 like to help me put the clothes in the washer and take them out to put in the dryer. The front load makes this easy for them to help. I have not experienced any of the problems the I have been hearing about....
