I bought a Whirlpool Duet Sport Washer and Dryer in December, 2008. On October 26, 2009, the washing machine gave out. Not even a year old. The repair service recommended by Lowe's, where it was purchased, came out and said it needed a new computer. Waited one week for that to come. Wrong part. Now they say it needs a new main computer (whatever that is). Part is not available in Atlanta, Georgia. Don't know how long I will have to wait for that to come. Don't know if it will even work. Needless to say, I am not happy, having to drag my clothes to the laundromat. Neither Whirlpool nor Lowe's seems very interested in sol ving this problem even though the machine is still under warranty. A quality product would not break down in only eleven months. It needs to be replaced. I would not recommend any Whirlpool appliance or Lowe's to anybody/
...

The Whirlpool Duet Sport is a good washer. After having replaced two washers to get to this one, it is definitely a breath of fresh air. No worries with this washer. We have had it for a few weeks now and it has been cleaning clothes great. It is not too loud, clothes don't come out soaked, and it's all together good. I don't like the amount of space you have, after having come from a slightly larger washer this one seems a little small. It has very easy to understand controls, you just hit the button until the light changes to the settings you want and then hit start. That's it, simple. If you don't stack it with the dryer and you don't get the pedastal, it is a little too short and you have to practically sit on the floor when you're loading in the clothes. That is a bit frustrating but it is a plus that it is stackable in the first place. It is also an HE washer so it uses less water. A good thing. :)
...

When my husband and I purchased the Whirlpool Duet Sport Washer we also purchased the Whirlpool Duet Sport Electric Dryer at the same time at hhgregg store. Our previous dryer (Maytag) purchased from Lowes about twelve years ago was not a very good dryer, it was loud and it seemed my clothing took forever to dry. This dryer, Whirlpool Duet Sport Electric Dryer takes on the average of thirty minutes per load to dry. It has nine different dial settings, from damp dry, super delicate, delicate, casual, normal, heavy duty, touch up, quick dry, timed dry. The push button settings are: power, timing _ +, wrinkle shield, temp adjust, dryness auto cycle, end of cycle signal, start, pause/cancel. I cannot tell you how much this wrinkle shield button has come in handy for me. We have had both machines for ten month now.

Oh, the whirlpool dryer is a front loader as well, of course. We also purchased the drawers that are so wonderful to have for several reasons; One , you can store...
...

When I came to the united states in 1976 I expected all washers to be front loaders, little did I know back then. All I ever saw was top loading washmachines and of course I got to own one too and I never was happy with the results of my washed cloths, also they took for ever to fill with water and not to mention how much hot water mine used for all whites underclothings and towels. In 1995 my husband and I purchased our last top loading washmachine (Kenmore). after several month the knob to set the wash cycle with, broke off, I had to use a wrench to set the setting until 2009. And then in 2009 this poor washmachine died, if you think I was sad, think again. My husband and I went and purchased (I insisted that I wanted a front loading machine) Whirlpool Duet Sport Washer and what a difference this washer has made in my life alraedy, all whites come out white and the rest of all our clothing come out clean, it takes very little detergent and very little bleach when...
...

I think this is the worst product ever. I bought it new 2 1/2 years ago and it broke with a load of 3 standard towels in it. The rubber seal ripped up from around the door and wrapped around the towel , letting water release all over the floor. I was told it will cost around $150-$200 to fix. Beside that after every wash you have to leave the door open so it doesn't grow mold and wash it with bleach once a week. Call whirlpool if you are unsure of more report. they will tell you!
...

I purchased my Whirlpool duet sport front load washing machine about 10 month ago. I can't say enough good things about it. It is the first front load machine I have ever had and I won't go back to a top loader. The machine itself does a great job of washing all types of clothes. It also uses less water than my top load did. The company recommends that you use high effiency detergent because you don't need all the suds that the other detergents make. I use that detergent and my clothes come very clean. The spin cycle does a great job and when the clothes are done they are only damp and don't take long in a dryer to dry. The only negative thing I have to say about this machine and it doesn't bother me but the serviceman that installed it said it was best to keep the door to the washer open when not in use because if you keep it closed between washes it will sometimes get a musty smell in the washer. I let the door open and have never noticed any odor. I did purchase the...
...

bamagirlie says "Whirlpool Duet Sport Washing Machine - maybe a mistake!" about Whirlpool Duet Sport Washing Machine

This is the first time I've ever taken time to review a product, but I wanted other consumers to know the issues I've had with this washing machine. I bought it from Lowe's from the damaged isle (it had a small dent in the back, so for $100 off, it was a good deal). Right after I bought the machine, I spoke with a friend who said she had the same one and the electrical/digital panel went out after a year. I was apprehensive about buying a digital panel machine, but I did it anyway. Well, here it is, not even six full months later and the digital panel went out on mine. Someone is supposed to come fix it shortly, as it is still under warrenty, but I am very disappointed that this happened so soon. In addition, sometimes the spin cycle would not spin the clothes, so I had to re-set it to an additional spin cycle. Bottom line - Save your money for another one!
...

Bought the Duet Sport washer NEW just over 2 years ago. Paid $800 for it and already had to spend over $500 additional in repairs! What is wrong with this picture? There are only 2 of us so the machine gets LIGHT use.

First incident was a shredded belt--8 months after the 1 year warranty expired. Second incident, the CCU board had to be replaced, this at exactly 2 years and 1 month of use. Repairman told me the machine is "nothing but trouble", parts can take MONTHS to get, and he'd never buy one. Wish I'd known that BEFORE I bought this one! His parting words to me after the 2nd incident were: "See you in a few months or so when the water pump goes..." NOT funny.

However, Whirlpool Customer Service IS a joke. It's too bad when a company won't stand behind their product unless you purchase an extended warranty. It is unacceptable for a 2 year old product to need 2 major repairs. Washers are categorized as Durable Goods for a reason. But their attitude was "tough luck."...
...

loanpopo says "disappointed" about Whirlpool Duet Sport Washing Machine

I bought the Whirlpool Duet Sport Washing Machine two years ago and have regretted it since! I was hoping for a more energy efficient machine, and although it probably saves water, the cycles are TWICE as long as my old washer! There is NO WAY this is energy efficient! My other big disappointment is it doesn't seem to clean nearly as well as a regular upright washing machine - my clothes came out so dingy that I ended up hand-washing, then gave up and started washing my whites at my mom's house. This was the first front-loader I've ever had, so I didn't think about how there won't be a "soak" cycle, so I can't blame that on the machine... But it's not even conducive to soaking before using the machine, because it's awkward and difficult to put soggy soaked clothes into the tiny opening without making a mess. I even tried using a tiny, specially-purchased bucket for soaking, but it was still too big to dump contents into the machine.
...

I have recently purchased Whirlpool duet sports. The washer and dryer pair was a bit pricey but affordable in range of the front loaders. however we did not purchase the pedastals so there is some bending required. I have noticed a signified drop in the water and electric bill. The only downfall that i see with the washer is that sometimes it can collect odor. so as long as the machine is cleaned regulary and all the tips are followed we have noticed no odor. they are easy to clean and are very economic. the duets are a bit noisy but work like a charm.
...

The Whirlpool Duet Sport Washer is a good investment, water and enery efficient. I have 2 dogs, 1 cat, and 2 birds(a conure & a macaw) and a husband, so I always have something to wash on a daily basis. I have washed everything from usual clothing, small rugs, pet beds, outdoor chair cushions, throwpillows, cage covers & queen size comforter(king size set of sheets ok but not heavy comforter). The only problem I've had is if you overstuff washer it leaks a little from door seal(can clean it up with dish cloth). Also this washer is able to be stacked with dryer for saving space, I have mine stacked and I love it. There is also pedistal drawer avaliable but I didn't get it.
...

This Whirlpool duet sport dryer is OK to use on a pedestal. The dryer works very well. Since the duet washer spins clothes very dry, the dryer drys in just minutes, The cycle says it will take 40 minutes and only takes 15 minutes. This surly saves on our electricity cost. It is heavy duty and hold lots of clothes. I also like the light inside when you open the door. It has lots of different settings, depending out what type of clothing you have. They have upgrades dryers so much over the years, I would recommend this dryer to anyone.
...

The Whirlpool duet sport is a great cleaning machine. This machine uses very little water or soap. The 1200 rpm spin is just the best thing about this machine.
