MysteryReviewer says "Breaks Down, It Doesn't Dry it Damps!" about Whirlpool Duel Steam Dryer

Bummer of a dryer WED6600VW0 broke down with in 5 months of delivery. Folks this is their the top of the line steam dryer, but it doesn't dry it damps!

That is a design flaw!

The wet sensor only works with full loads and isn't supposed to work during the timed settings...but does, the repair me told me.

Whirlpool is mum about the problem requireing a special order part, the control board, which took 10 days to arrive at the parts place.

Two techs have been out to check the dryer, the first saying it was fine and the dampness I'll need to learn to live with...and no comment about the design flaws, etc. He also confirmed the control board problem (same with the replacement dryer of the same model).

The control board is only suopposed to show the sensing on the upper cycles, not the timed cycle. After this guy left the dryer failed completely after another week.

Whirlpool people were called again and again, only to have them tell me that they would send aother tech out...and they herd...
...

Botanica09 says "Good at drying but it has its own wrinkles" about Whirlpool Duel Steam Dryer

This is a review for the whirlpool duet steam dryer. My husband and I purchased it in July of 08 and it has been wonderul but I expected more. It does a great job of drying clothes and I really enjoy all the different cycles. However, the steam option does not work as well as I had hoped. It may just be our dryer but it seems to squirt water on the clothes more than provide a steam to remove wrinkles. I have pulled out shirts early to check on them that have big water marks on them.

If I had to do it over... I would still go with a Whirlpool dryer - I just wouldn't pay for the steam option.
...

This Whirlpool Steam dryer is wonderful. Even my kids will use it. It has all the settings that we need, from very cool to sanitize. The dryer is a little pricey, but in my house, laundry is a big deal and this dryer is well worth every penny paid for it....

About four days ago I got a GREAT deal on a Whirlpool Duet Steam Washer and Dryer. Delivery was set and on time however......there was a STRANGE problem. The set was delivered with LEGS! Therefore, it was unable to be set up and installed. Oh no I thought, they have my money and the product has been delivered this is going to be a nightmare trying to resolve this problem. Called Sears that day explaining problem, very friendly and helpful. By that evening they had located legs for the machines and I could pick them up the next day and schedule for them to come out and set up and level the machines!!! YEA!!! Big problem, little headache!!!!!! I give the way SEARS handled this strange problem 5 out of 5 stars.
...
