We used Wells Fargo for a refinance loan. We started quite awhile back, more than we would have liked, but now that we are an end we are totally happy. Mixed emotions, but we decided to do this around the time of all the bank woes. Especially from the home loan fallouts. Fortunately, this is not why we decided to do this. We decided to re-finance so we could work on our home and get some jobs done quicker. Normally, we would try and work within our leftover budget, but as we all know coming up with a large sum for flooring or kitchen cabinets from leftovers is not the easiest to do. So, with the help from Wells Fargo and competitive rates; where our rates actually went down from our original 4.625% we were pleasantly pleased. Good job Wells Fargo for being there when we needed you, and now we can't wait for our new kitchen and family room combo with new cabinets, floors, appliances, and granite counter tops.
...

We had our mortgage with Wells Fargo and kept paying and paying - I knew we were paying higher rates then other banks but just didnt' want to take the time to refinance. ING sent out a promotional flyer and I took it to my Wells Fargo loan officer - he told me it was a too good to be true offer and that Wells Fargo couldn't even come close to the rates they were offering -

I switched and began saving several hundred dollars a month on my payment. I get better service and it is as easy to make payments. I do not have to make an appointment to discuss my mortage now as I had to do with Wells Fargo - I hate their waiting room area -

Wells fargo toots their horn well and charges a big fee up front for paperwork - I only wish I would have wised up sooner and started saving money earlier - all those extra thousands that I paid Well's Fargo could have reduced my loan amount.
...

Wells Fargo Home Mortgage stinks! Our mortgage was sold to them a few months after our very first home purchase. After a year, they raised our mortgage payment over $200 a month, they said it was based on the predicted expenditures for that year needed for escrow. I said that it doesn't make sense since our taxes should be lower since our house is worth less than half of it's worth from the previous year according to our tax assessment. I know, the market stinks, but then they said they would pay back anything overpaid at the end of the year after taxes are paid. Well, I would rather pay my own property taxes. They have the nerve to say that I can't pay my own bills. I was on the phone with them 3 times today. The first time they said I couldn't. Then I did research and found out I could so I called back. Then they said they would transfer me to someone that had authority to do it. I sat on hold for 58 minutes and 30 seconds before I hung up. Before I actually hung up, I called on...
...

We went with Wells Fargo for a new mortgage, my previous experence with them was solely with their servicing department (they bought my previous mortgage), their rates were competitive so we decided to go through the whole mortgage application process with them. There were many errors on the application form and we asked them repeatedly to correct them, some were minor (flip flopping my cell # with my husbands) and some were larger such as the history of where we lived. We asked repeatedly for updates and corrections early in the process to try to make things go as smoothly as possible and their multiple representatives failed to make the changes. Often the only way to get a response from our second and final rep was to call and ask to speak to a supervisor, or when emailing the rep cc'ing the three people that we were able to identify as possible supervisors. We were not told of our final closing costs until after 4 PM (on a Monday) the day before our Tuesday noon closing and even...
...

I did a 2nd mortgage with them about 5 years ago for an addition to my home. It was at 7% and variable, but I could lock it in up to 7 different times to the current rate, or go back to variable at my choice. WRONG! I called 5 different times over the course of a year to lock in when rates started creeping up. They promised it was locked in at 7 1/4%, then I see the statement. I called, they said it is fine, the paperwork just didn't catch up tot he statement not to worry. Then again, then they said they didn't know what I was talking about and would I like to lock it in now. The guy I talked to before isn't there. I say yes, then same story, now it is up to 9%. I finally get in writing that I want it locked, guess what, yep, they lost it again and it finally topped out at over 9 1/2 % interest.

I really think someone should sue them. I am sure lots of other consumers got screwed by them during this time.
...

I am a Realtor and have used Wells Fargo for 2 different loans (at the same time)...different Offices and mortgage bankers... They are the WORST!!! I will never suggest them again! They lie, ignore your call, and I am pretty sure they cannot read a contract with dates, as they could care less about the contract dates. My first words were... how is the timing on this contract, do you think we can close the loan on time... the Lender Diane said, "OH, no problem that is a TON of time" (six weeks to be exact). Now 3 extensions later (6 weeks total) we are still not closed, nor does she answer my calls or emails. My buyer is losing his rental at the end of the week and does not have a home to get into. The other buyer finally closed, but it took 4 months to do so... This is CRAZY!!!! Do NOT use them they cannot handle all the new business and it will be at YOUR buyer's expense. I had no idea that any lender could be so bad... I have never imagined any lender could be so bad......
...

saltydoc says "Reasonable rates and customer service - but watch for the gotcha" about Wells Fargo Home Mortgage

We recently obtained a home mortgage through Wells Fargo. I compared four different companies - Wells Fargo had the best interest rate without paying points, and average morgtage fees. Yes, the number of different fees was outrageous - but that's an aspect of the entire industry, not just Wells Fargo. The mortgage representative was friendly and helpful - I worked with the same person throughout the entire process. Underwriting went smoothly, and when calling customer service I got a real person in less than a minute (despite calling at peak times). Overall I'm pleased.

However, we almost were hit with a gotcha regarding the payment schedule. I originally opted for the bi-monthly payment. The idea was that some of the principle amount would be lowered two weeks earlier than with a monthly payment - thus saving us a little interest over the long haul. I believe most folks familiar with basic finance would expect the same. However, they don't actually apply the first...
...

I had a few problems with wells fargo when they would they would charge me account fees and i wouldnt know for a couple of months unless i checked on line. Then it would be a huge hassle to get them to reverse the charges. they told me that they are automatic and go on and they have to go in a manually to take it off. I finally got tired of having to look for these charges so i closed my account. On a good note they do have a good kids program and it is free. Not a lot of interest but a safe place for their money to learn how to use a bank account.
...

ONE AFTER ANOTHER, KEPT TRANSFERING ME TO ANOTHER REPRESENTATIVE BECAUSE THEY ARE FOR THE MOST PART POORLY TRAINED, EXPRESSIONLESS, ROBOTIC EMPLOYEES. THEY ALL GAVE ME MIXED INFORMATION ON MODIFICATION OF MY CURRENT LOAN AND WHEN I NEEDED A TRANSLATOR THE TRANSLATORS WERE VERY ROBOTIC, DEPRESSED HATING LIFE INDIVIDUALS THAT DIDNT HELP AT ALL . NONE OF THE TRANSLATORS DID ANYTHING MORE THAN REPEAT WHAT I SAID AND WELLS FARGO ASSOCIATES REFUSED TO HELP ME IN ANY WAY BY PHONE AND KEPT INSISTING ON SENDING ME SOME "PACKET".

My husband and I went with Wells Fargo to buy our first house.

We offered 26% down, both have excellent (>800) credit scores, no debt, and steady jobs with a low debt-to-income ratio. Basically, we are the perfect loan candidates.

Yet, it's taken over 90 days and it looks like Wells Fargo may still fail to complete our loan documents in time for close.

The whole pitch they gave us was that they were reliable and would close on time. HA. Our guy was COMPLETELY unresponsive until I asked if he was too busy to handle our loan, and whether we should work with someone else. After that, he started responding to emails, but always, it was with empty promises that everything was on track and ready to go. Then, surprise, surprise, at the last minute, he'd need another copy of this or that statement. We'd hear nothing for days, I'd write to check in, and then he'd suddenly remember needing a copy of something. Ridiculous. It was pretty obvious that we were on the back burner until...
...

I have had horrible customer service throughout my experience with Wells Fargo on my primary home mortgage. I have had my rate changed just prior to closing, been lied to about refinancing possibilities, and charged exorbitant late charges. I will never do business with this company again. Where is the help that home owners have been promised?? Is Wells Fargo getting money from the Government, then making their customers suffer?...

The worst customer service on the planet. I have a mortgage with Wells Fargo that I have been trying to refi thru this office for month now. I have been dealing with loan officer Lesly Dimance, I initially applied for the loan 12/03 and supplied all requested documents, the appraiser came in a few days later and completed the appraisal, since then nothing was happening, I called the loan officer several times at his desk/cell phone no call backs, caller his manager Jason Lerner who assured me everything was going fine "just waiting on closing date" "we're really busy now, there is a backlog...." "do not worry..." on 01/09 I was shocked to get a letter stating that my loan application was cancelled because it was missing incomplete, I called the loan officer and his manager probably a 100 times before I got a call back, now the loan officer is saying that they messed up (blamed it on his secratary) becuase there was a form that they did not include in the file when it was sent to underwriting...
...

Home Buyers Should Find A GOOD Real Estate Agent (translation - not your aunt, neighbor, or part time agent friend) and Strongly Consider Listening To Their Experienced Recommendations.

It is very wise to shop around to a few local lenders to find a mortgage for your home loan or refinance loan. As team leader of the SearchPittsburghHomes - Dot Com Team at Keller Williams Real Estate Professionals Pittsburgh, I have found that a few home buyers simply don't listen to good advice on this. Here are a few bullet points for home buyers to consider from a real estate agent who has seen home buyers have great experiences and terrible experiences too!

First of all, we recommend that you get your mortgage locally (not on-line or from an out of state lender with no local offices). If something should go wrong during the process, you need to be able to go and actually meet with your lender.

Second, don't think that you are going to get a better deal (or preferred treatment) from...
...

CEO says "Wells Fargo will not sign/agree costing me over $3,000.00" about Wells Fargo Home Mortgage

I live in Northwest Louisiana where we're having a boom in gas leasing due to the Haynesville Shale Play. I am single & on a tight budget so it was a great surprise when I was selected to receive a nice "signing bonus" due to the location of my home. What's the problem? I have been given a "subordination agreement clause" that MUST be signed by my mortgage company, Wells Fargo, before I can cash in on the signing bonus. Wells Fargo WILL NOT agree to sign this form due to them not liking the language in the form. So thanks to Wells Fargo, I will not get the benefit of over $3,000.00 to help pay any of my bills. It seems that Chase Bank, City Mortgage, all of our local Credit Unions, etc have agreed but WELLS FARGO refuses. I am outraged and disgusted with WELLS FARGO. I will never use Wells Fargo again and I am telling everyone I know not to use Wells Fargo because they do not care about anyone, existing customers or new customers. Wells Fargo I hope you sink in this......
