This has to be one of the best fire starters i have even used. it will take any type of charcoal, hardwood chunks or briquettes, and with 1 or 2 pieces of news paper, will have your fire ready in about 10-15 minutes. The wood handle is far enough away to keep your hand from getting burned and the capacity is large enough to get a good fire going for even large turkeys on the grill. the bottom grid is notched into place, so there is no need to worry about retrieving the grid when you pour the charcoal out when ready. I have not used starter fluid in years and I can actually taste the diference in the food when I have someone elses barbeque that had starter fluid as the combustion agent. I also have tried several different models of chimney charcoal starters and this Weber starter is the best becuase with some of the others, eventually the handle would fall off. On others, the coals would fall out of the bottom before I was ready. Weber uses a good quailty heavy grade of sheet...
...

tk410158 says "The ultimate charcoal chimney" about Weber Chimney Starter for Charcoal Grill

I have gone through a myriad multitude of cheap charcoal chimneys. You know, the ones from Wal-mart. The shiny, narrow-profiled tubes of directional heating. The inexpensive ones that you think are a good deal.

I was wrong!

When my last set (yes, I would use two of these slender chimneys at at time) rusted away into razor-sharp shards, I decided to try the Weber Chimney Starter. I'd looked at it before, lusted after its large charcoal capacity, its dual handle system, its conical briquet grill, its heavy-duty construction. But I'd always cheap-out and get another couple of rustbuckets.

The Weber Chimney Starter revealed to me the folly of my cheap ways. Here was a tool, not a gadget, that worked, that did exactly what it was supposed to do, and did it better than the Cheapy McGeneric charcoal chimneys. It holds more charcoal, it holds more newspaper to start the charcoal, it's tough and sturdy, and overall is a joy to use.

Fast-forward about a month after buying my Weber Chimney...
...

I have always used wax starter chips from Weber to start my charcoal grill. They work great, but I wanted something that would actually start all my charcoal at once, not just have several go to waste. I bought the Weber Chimney Starter a few years ago and I absolutely love it. None of my charcoal goes to waste, they all get red hot and even together. Sometimes I even add in a few wood chips at the bottom. I love this product, would never go back to anything else again!
...

jyn425 says "Easy and effective" about Weber Chimney Starter for Charcoal Grill

The Weber Chimney Starter for Charcoal Grill is a wonderful grill accessory. Just add newspaper to the bottom, put the charcoal in the top, and light it. It's much better than lighter fluid, especially if you have children. It eliminates the need for yet another toxic chemical. You can use the cheaper non-treated charcoal, which also reduces the chemicals with which you are cooking your bar-b-que.

I do have a tendency to not allow the charcoal to burn long enough before dumping it out. Also, there is a need to plan ahead to put it somewhere when it is hot after the charcoal is dumped out. Luckily, the Chimney Starter has a wooden handle, so it is safe to handle and easy to dump out the coals.

I would recommend this for anyone who still prefers a good charcoal grill over a gas grill. Charcoal gives a superior flavor and this eliminates the slightly off taste of the started fluid.
...

We grill year round & the chimney starter is especially helpful in windy weather. I use it every time I light the grill. The chimney helps the charcoal light evenly & burn evenly. When the charcoal is dumped out, it is almost ready to throw on the food. By the time we get the grill plates in place, we are ready. Cuts the cooking time in half....

Why use a gas grill when you can have charcoal ready to go in no time. Use some of those newspapers you have lying around the house and no lighter fluid fumes. You will have red hot coals in no time. Pick this one up. It is SO worth the small amount of money that you will spend.
...

I can tell the difference between charcoal and gas grilled food. There's a huge flavor difference. I gas sometimes, but I mostly char grill, because that's what makes outdoor cooking different and special.

The one down side to grilling with charcoal is that some of those nuggets can be hard to start. There's the self-start charcoal and the squirt fluid, but those tastes are not what you really are shooting for. Also, you may still have a heck of a time getting the fire going.

I struggled with this problem for years. I considered an electric starter like my dad used sometimes, but we weren't always near electricity. We take our Weber on the road too.

I kept looking at the Weber charcoal starter. It sounded like a good idea. But, I wasn't sure how it worked and if it worked. It's a company I trust, but some things sound too good to be true. I wondered if this might be the case.

Finally I broke down and bought one. Since it's under $20, it wasn't a real splurge. But, still. A few dollars is...
...
