I used the Skin Essentials system for the first time about two weeks ago. The first time I used it my skin felt great and soft afterwards! I don't generally have sensitive skin, but the next day my entire face was bright red and my skin felt really tight and did not feel soft at all. Since then, my skin has completely peeled off and still feels tight and rough as if it may peel again, plus it STINGS. I think it was the repairing lotion that caused this because my face burned really bad for a long time after I put it on. I may continue to use the rest of the products and hope they don't cause any problems, but the repairing lotion went straight in the trash! Plus it is making me break out even worse than before since I have to put on so much moisturizer just to be able to move my face! I have been miserable for weeks because of this product.

I am a former proactiv user, who loved the product and what it did for my skin, but not the price. I had decided that it was well worth it though since it worked so well keeping my skin clear. When I saw the Walgreens Skin Essentials 3- Step Acne System, I was a little leary at first, but then decided I'd try it anyway, since it was half the price of proactiv. I will have to admit that I was very pleasantly surprised at how well it worked! I couldn't tell a difference between this and proactiv. It worked just as well and it didn't seem to dry my skin out as much as proactiv. I could only use proactive once a day due to it drying my skin out so much, but I was able to use this twice a day and it didn't seem to hurt. The good thing is, though, that I didn't have to use it twice a day to work. When I didn't have time to do it twice a day, it still kept my skin looking great. My only problem with this system is that they don't have a mask that comes with it. So, I still order the mask from...

I am 26 and I have had off and on trouble with acne for at least ten years now. I have tried probably every product available at the store along with Proactive as well. Proactive made my face dry and sore and it did not even help with my acne! I kept on with it in the hopes my skin would adjust. It did not and I said forget it and went back to using the plain cheap facewash. A couple of years ago I saw another three step acne system called "Acne Free". It stated it compared to Proactive but that it would do more for you and it cost less so I decided to give it a try. Sure enough it was nothing like Proactive. I am not sure if it was because of my age my skin has changed or what but let me tell you this stuff works! I love it other than it bleaches everything you touch after using it. I am sure we all know we need to be careful with benzoyl peroxide but if not I am warning you now! Use white towels only when using any kind of face product with benzoyl peroxide in it. I suffered from moderate to severe adult acne and tried Proactiv, which completely cleared my skin. Unfortunately, Proactiv is pretty expensive and I couldn't afford to continue using it. When I saw Skin Essentials at Walgreens and noticed that it had the same ingredients as all the products in the Proactiv 3 step system, so I gave it a try. I am pleases to say that it works and I have experienced the same results (clear, beautiful skin) with Skin Essentials 3 Step Acne System. Thanks!!!...

I was searching for something that would stop the occasional blemishes from popping up. I looked into ProActive, TriClear, and some other systems (I have not tried any of these systems). While researching, I stumbled across the Walgreen's Skin Essential Kit. Decided to buy it because of the price (was 12.99 in the store) and also because of the Walgreen's brand reputation, which has never let me down. I have been using the kit for one week now, and my skin is the clearest it has been in years! I am still trying to find a balance of when to use the products (now it's every other day so I avoid dryness - I might even go every 3rd day). It cleared up any blemishes I had and I haven't seen any new ones. I highly recommend this kit!

I tried proactiv for 3 months, I even restocked on my toner only just to keep up - nada. I noticed a difference with skin essentials in a week! And for someone who swore off skin products after my misfortune with proactiv... (my skin got oily and I had more breakouts than I used to have before proactive. I called the proactive custome service number and they said it was normal for the first couple of weeks... but after 1 month and a half??)...the results were amazing.
Will definitely recommend skin essentials over Proactiv. And the price? Just 12.99!...

My mom got me this product instead of proactive because it was a more resonable price and said did the same thing. However, when i first began using it, i noticed no changes whatsoever. I suffer from dry skin, and acne, and although this product did not trouble my dry skin, it did nothing for my acne either. I have continued using this product for a month or two and have still seen no difference. In my opinion, it's just a waste of money and another product would most likely be more effective....

I first tried ProActiv Solution over 10 years ago hoping it would clear up my acne. I was skeptical but forged ahead anyway and was astounded by the results. Within two days my skin began to clear and within a week it was completely clear. I fell in love with the stuff and used it pretty religiously for years. What I didn't love though was the price.

So when other companies started to manufacture products similar to ProActive I began trying them out to see if they were comparable and would allow me to save some money. The latest product I have tried is Walgreen's Skin Essentials 3-Step Acne System and I'm completely sold on its value and the results of using it.

Skin Essentials contains the same three steps that ProActiv does - facial cleanser with 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide, facial toner, and Skin Repar Cream which also contains 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide. Same as ProActiv but only $12.99 for the same amount of product.

And it works just as well too. The cleanser is ever so slightly...

Wow, when they say compare to Proactiv, they are not kidding! I did just that- I bought this system when I still had some Proactiv left over, just so I could test it myself. The verdict? I literally could not tell the difference between the two brands! Also, I got the same good results from the Walgreens product. But the price is so much better! This product is usually $12.99, and is on sale right now for $8.99! I will definately stock up!
