mikerphilly says "Since Wells Fargo, Wachovia can no longer be trusted with money." about Wachovia

Wachovia's new zero tolerance policy on NSF and overdraft fees is unacceptable. I was recently charged four (4) NSF and overdraft fees of $35 each for four (4) transactions. That's $140 in penalties! What's appalling is that each and every item was smaller than the starting balance before this sequence of "hold" and "post" began. One debit transaction (that rightly should have been denied) was on hold while the largest transaction was paid.. but also charged a penalty.. and leaving the next 3 smaller transactions, about $30 each, to all bounce separately as well, including the one debit that was on hold to cause the first bounce.

I wrote and called several times and all I got was that "these charges were correct, in accordance with our policy." When corporate policy exceeds mathematical possibility, you know that maximizing bank income from NSF ad overdraft fees has become a priority more important than keeping faith in customers. What's worse is that in all this correspondence, no Wachovia...
...

Wachovia (Wells Fargo) Bank has GREAT customer service and I think a good reputation. Every time I've stopped by a Wachovia in California I've always been greeted warmly, my questions are always answered in a prompt and well answered manner, I hardly have to wait long in line, and they have a bunch of great offers. This is my primary bank and my favorite. I've gone through many banks and NONE of them compare or stand up to Wachovia. I <3 Wachovia! =)
...

I have dealt with several banks in my time and Wachovia is the one that i consistantly use for all of my checking and savings transactions. They have great customer service and product to assist the average American Joe. I moved to the West coast where there were far and few, so i tried a couple of others so i would have a local brach-- not impressed (primarily Washington mutual) Anytime I have had an issue, I have been treated eith respect and courtesy. 90% of the time my issue has been resolved. The 10% ,i think, was an overdraft that was my fault and i didn't get all of the credit back :(
...

Wachovia, and World Savings & Loan, in large measure led the way into the total financial meltdown that we face today. Their aggressive and irresponsible lending tactics, as well as their work with unethical brokers, has created a financial wasteland for many of their borrowers, as well as the nation at large....
