I travel a ton for business. I try to always stay at a Starwood branded hotel. I prefer W hotels if I can find one. Usually when I come to NYC I stay at the W on Lex and 49th, but it was full so I stayed at this one in Union Square. I love Union Square, the restaurants, the shopping and the location.

My only negative experience was that I had a meeting, and wanted to grab a late lunch in the restaurant. They stop serving lunch at some oddly early hour. I did get something off of the bar menu, which was excellent, but I did wish they had longer lunch hours.

This W far exceeded my expectations, with large rooms, great service and fantastic location. I used to stay in Mid Town, but now I am a "downtown" girl.
...

jipi1025 says "By far the best hotel experience I've ever had." about W New York - Union Square - New York, NY

I have stayed in many different hotels over the years and I am very picky about accomodations. I think this is the first time that I couldn't pick out something negative about the experience. The staff was excellent, they treated us like family, they welcomed us w/ open arms and they bent over backwards to please us. The hotel is normally pretty pricey and we happened to get a great last minute deal online. They treated us no differently than the people who were paying $800.00 per night. New Yorkers get a bad rap and you would assume that at this swanky hotel it would be very snobby, but that was not that case at all. If you've stayed in NYC you know that many of the hotel rooms are tiny. We were in the smallest room category and it was huge. It is located in Union Square which is a great area, with lots of restaurants around.
...

I have stayed here several times on business trips and it is one of my favorite W Hotels in NYC. What I like most about this hotel is the location. There is a regular farmer's market in Union Square, which is directly across the street. Even though I have never bought anything there I like walking through and taking in the sights and sounds.

The other reason it is a good location is that many of the clients and partners I visit are in this part of NYC. In the past I had by default stayed in the upper 40's and lower 50s. This is in the lower 20's and more accessible for many appointments. Be sure to plot out your visit and see if this location will work. It is a nicer, homier, less corporate part of New York.

In their words, "the hotel is "Ringed by the essentials-shopping, music art-W New York Union Square's landmark 1911 beaux arts Guardian Life building, re-invented by David Rockwell, has the city at its fingertips. Pete's Tavern and the Village's cozy coffee houses are...
...
