This heater broke after only about 6 months use. Then they wanted half as much as it originally cost in order to mail it to them and then for them to ship it back to you after they fixed it. Some warranty. They don't even have enough faith in their own product to agree to pay shipping costs for repair. Don't buy this one, it's no good if it doesn't run.
...

Bought the Vornado at the end of season last year when we had a problem with our furnace. It was a bit more than I wanted to spend, but not many heaters were still in stock and I had read good reviews about the heater.

Pros: moves air, quiet, stays cool to touch

Cons: doesm't seem to really heat air, not good for larger spaces

My wife and I live in an older home. We keep the thermostat down and try to heat only the rooms we're inhabiting. This unit actually makes a larger room feel cooler because of the air movement. My wife much prefers her $25 ceramic heater to help her feel warmer in a cool room.

Definitely not as good as reviews suggested and certainly not worth the $100 price tag.
...

The Vornado heater is great for those extra spaces that central heat doesn't cover. It also works well in medium sized rooms to keep rooms warms. The Vornado works well in a bathroom for extra heat when the family is bathing to keep the room toasty warm. I would reccomend this heater to anyone with small children and pets....

I have a number of Vornado products and I don't think I'll ever buy anything else. The AVTH2 Vortex Heater was the first heater of theirs I bought. I had a number of other brands before that were less effective, larger and noisier. I also saw they had a number of new heaters if you want to check them out http://www.vornado.com....

I bought my Vornado Vortex Heater from Bed Bath and Beyond last weekend and have been using it all week. It was a bit pricey, costing $100, seeing as I have a Holmes electric heaters that work just as well that cost half as much. One thing the Vornado heater is great for is pushing the warm air around! This can be a great thing, and it can be a bit of a pian at times. My house isn't always the neatest. I also have a cat that sheds like crazy. I have to be careful to always aim the heater upwards, or else I have dust and cat fur flying around when the air hits it! Its also very safe. If the heater tips over, it shuts off automatically. Overall, I say the Vornado Vortex heater does everything it says it will, at a price. My recommendation, keep shopping around. You can find a heater just as good for half the price!
...

did a ton of research and bought a few heaters before this one but I'm most happy with the Vornado. The first two I bought were digital ceramic heaters. I have to recommend against getting a digital heater. Each time you turn it on, you have to push several controls to get back to where you like it, with this heater, you just turn it on. The only thing that kept me from buying it first was cost and the fact that it had no ceramic element which theoretically was a safer element than an electric coil. We use it in a few bedrooms that are not freezing cold but uncomfortably cold. The other great feature is it'll run on lower power and only use as much wattage as is needed to heat the room. My other heaters would run full blast till it hit the desired temperature, then turn off, repeat over and over. The trouble is, heaters will use about as much power as must rooms have available so if you have anything else plugged in, you'll throw the circuit breaker, which happened over and over for me.......

I bought this item 2 years ago when my daughter came home from Florida for Christmas. The spare bedroom is in the basement and doesn't share the baseboard heating of the rest of the basement. This heater is perfect for the room she is in and I don't have to keep the whole-house heat on just to keep her warm. My other daughter has one in her bedroom too because her room is over the garage and it keeps me from having to keep the heat up high to keep her warm also....

what a great product. i seem to always be cold, but with the compact heater it can go almost anywhere with me and i won't be shivering any longer. i dont know what i would do without this. right now i would probably be all wrapped up in blankets. it doesn't take very long for this heater to warm up any sized room to whatever temperature you select. i've recommended this product to many of my friends and they seem to just love it too. i think the next step they should have in this type of product is one that blows cold air. like an air conditioner but it would be portable like this heater. then no matter what type of season and climate you are in, you'll be sure that you can live in your home with a comfortable temperature. sometimes on really cold mornings after my shower i like to sit right in front of the heater with the towel hovering over all the blowing air to capture it. this will warm you up in no time. it feels like being wrapped around with how towels fresh out of the dryer.

Summary
I live in a very old house and often times in the middle of the Chicago winter it gets very drafty in our rooms. We have purchased several portable heaters in all styles for our childrens rooms to keep them warmer. The Vornado hands down is my favorite portable heater.

The Vornado compared with other models
We have owned the stand-up style, the long radiator-style and the Vornado style. I have to say, this is definitely my favorite heater. The others appear slightly more advanced in terms of programming, buttons and digital display. However, in most cases, I found those confusing to use and easy to reset with kids around. So, I would take the Vornado one any day. The Vornado has a turn button to control the temperature and is very simple to use.

Heating
The Vornado heater was able to heat a 1,000 sqft room when put on high. Shocking! I don't recommend it for an area that large, but it goes to show you that for a small unit, the Vornado has a lot of horsepower.
...
