Great running car. Cheap outside. The handles have fallen off inside the doors. The cup holders have fallen off. The center console has fallen off....

Fun to drive (especially since I have the turbo) but in the shop at least every other month. Little things, big things. They didn't get the bugs out of this bug!...

BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW AND HAD FOR 3 YEARS.
THERE WERE ELECTRICAL, COMPUTER CONCERNS AND I HAD TO WAIT FOR TOW SERVICE (THAT VW CLUB PAID FOR AS WELL AS RENTALS).
THE CAR GOT VERY GOOD MILEAGE AND WAS GOOD QUALITY.
THE METAMORPHOSIS OF THIS CAR FROM THE 60'S MAKES IT ALMOST UNRECOGNIZABLE. ALL THAT IS FAMILIAR IS THE SHAPE.
THE TRUNK IS ROOMY.
THIS VEHICLE IS NOT PRACTICAL FOR A FAMILY SINCE THE BACK SEAT IS TOO CRAMPED AND INCONVENIENT FOR CAR SEAT USE.
THE TRUNK WAS TOO SMALL FOR THE GRACO STOLLER.
I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS CAR FOR CITY DRIVING AND VW COMPANY DID STAND BEHIND REPAIRS IN THE ELECTRICAL AND COMPUTER CONCERNS

My wife actually bought this car when we were engaged, but I ended up really liking the car. It was roomier than I expected, though the contour of the roof made head room limited in the back seat. We have had the car for over seven years to date, and have had no major problems. My only complaints in terms of service are that warning lights came on approximately once per year, and had to be reset by the dealer, even though there was nothing actually wrong. Also, a minor annoyance, the fuse for the stereo is located behind the dash, and had to be replaced by a service technician. Overall, it is a great car and we would definitely consider another Beetle....
