I bought my 2006 Volkswagon Jetta brand new, and it now has well over 100,000 miles on it, I do alot of traveling which is obvious from the milage. I am always comfortable even for long rides. I love my car from the first time I drove it. Volkswagon has hooked me in for life. I have two sons one in a booster and one in a infant seat and still room for a friend in the back seat. I love my heated seats and the large roomy trunk I fit more in my trunk then the mini van I had before it. One of the first things I liked about it was that it has changing lanes turn signals also so they only blink four times before turning themselves off no more forgetting to turn them off on the interstate. I also like the slap stick which I use in the snow all the time. It does have some down sides but the up sides deff over come them. Its hard to find after market parts and most things need to be bought from the dealer but its all well worth it. I wouldnt trade it for anything.
...

McGillicuddy says "The 2006 Jetta pulled me in with it's looks but..........." about Volkswagen Jetta - 2006

The looks of the then new model of the Jetta really caught my attention. The 5 cylinder engine was new to me, and I thought it was a good idea. The 5 cylinder engine didn't give the car the spunk it needed to get going. They faired better with the 4 cylinder 1.8 liter turbo in the previous years models. I was dissappointed with the loud start up that I had in the 2001 Jetta and was suprised to see that they didnt change it with the 2006 model. I was always embarrased to start my car in front of people because of it. Looks are great, but you need performance too....

We rented a 2007 turbo diesel five speed in Vienna, Austria and used it to tour five thousand kilometers of Central Europe. My wife had to tell me their was another gear as were drove along at Autobahn speeds. One of our time-shares high in the Swiss Alps was part of our daily commute where we were amazed by the Jetta's unusual torque. Second and third gears were all that was need to gobble up the forty five minutes of switchback's to Targon. We computed our overall millage at 42 MPG. We believe the radio is different in the Jetta's sold in Europe. We felt quite safe and comfortable in this black Jetta. Our month long suitcases hid comfortably in the trunk. The roomy interior was comfortable for our large senior frames. Thank you VW and EuroCar.

I bought my VW Jetta last year because my Santa Fe was killing me at the gas tank. I went to a dealership not knowing what I wanted, and there it was... love at first sight. It has a european apperance, wonderful gas mileage (32-34MPG) and is soooo comfortable to drive. (Heated seats- moon roof- wonderful stereo system) And the price tag was just as wonderful. Every time I take someone at work out to lunch they fall in love with my car. I have had so many compliments on it- people even stop me at the grocery store to ask how I like it! My son asked me the other day if I won the lottery what car would I buy... I had to laugh, I couldn't think of another car that I would want....

I got my Jetta 2 years ago. Only drive about 10,000 miles annually but I love this car. I wasn't sure when I bought it but my son said it's the best value and safest car for me so went ahead and got it. It runs great and is very comfortable to drive. Has a lot of features that I don't use, like cruise control etc but it came with the package. Very economical. I can drive 300 miles on 3/4 of a tank of gas. Only ave to change the oil every 5000 miles (so twice a year for me). The more I drive it the more I love it. Great Car!...

duckdodgerz says "2.5L Value Edition is wonderful" about Volkswagen Jetta - 2006

Our 2006 Jetta 2.5 VE is a wonderful car. It has enough room that my 6'6" frame is comfortable in both front seats and in either back seat if there is a normal sized person in the front with the fornt seat up.

We average about 25mpg in combined driving with fairly lead foot driving style. Long highway trips have shown the car is capable of 33-35mpg. The worst mileage we ahve ever gotten was 22.5.

The car is solid as a rock, accellerates rather well for it's power/size, and handles very well. Cornering and "fun" driving are excellent. Interior is quiet and comfortable.

Would have liked to have had power seat for at least the driver's position but it was the Value Edition. Lack of sunrrof is another drawback but, again, it's the VE.

The 2.5L engine should be replaced by the 2.0 Turbo. The 2.0 is rated for better mileage and actually performs better. It is available in the Jetta 2.0/GLI but they tend to be MUCH more expensive.

This car was chosen over the Honda Civic (a little too......
