visa credit cards, like most credit cards i would say, don't really help your credit. however they can hurt it. of course it might depend what your credit limit is but i would recommend discretion when deciding to use it. Make sure you are able to pay the balance in full when the bill comes. If not interst will start to pile up and before you know it, you start making minimum payments. A very big mistake because then it take s forever to pay it off. That is if you ever going to pay it off because chances are there will always be stuff that you will be tempted to use the credit card for. You must be very discilplined in order to put a cap on it. My suggestion is: if you can pay cash, write a check or use a check card for an item, do it. If you really must use the credit card, first ensure that it is someting that you need, not want, but need. If the answer is positive, then don't buy it right away> wait a few days, maybe the end of the week, maybe next paycheck, maybe...

The Navy Federal visa Platinum card has a great interest rate with no gimmicks. I think you can get them with rewards points now. I've had my visa for several years and it has come in handy many times and has never been turned down....
