paulmk says "Virgin America First Class is a Joke." about Virgin Airlines

IAD-LAX-IAD First Class. Service the first leg of the trip was excellent, best service ever, and the dinner was amazing. Downside: massage/lumbar on my chair was broken, buttons did nothing. My red entertainment system crashed twice (reboot takes about 5 minutes each time). Fast Forward and Rewind did not work on my wife's Red. The snack selection is pretty bad, standard airline fare - pretzels, nuts, etc. The good snacks (cookies and other baked goods) are not available in First. Service the second leg of of the trip was TERRIBLE - worst service EVER in over a hundred First Class flights with various airlines: they forgot to serve us our meal, breakfast, and the attendant never offered us anything, unless we paged her. And we were the only 2 people in first class. Insane, right? We had better service at the Burger King drive-through we stopped at on the way home (because Virgin forgot our breakfast). The attendant never smiled, never offered anything unless we tracked her down,...
...

dangleburt says "great planes, terrible service" about Virgin Airlines

Yes, the planes are great because they are new (unless you want a place to hang a suit jacket, in which case you can forget it because these new marvels of the sky have no closets! So just stuff that Armani jacket in the overhead and show up for your meeting wearing wrinkles). But the customer service is awful. Snotty flight attendants, and if you write a letter to complain you get back a boilerplate email saying in essence "Oh well." Is VA worse than the other airlines? Probably not. But if you thought this one was different, you were wrong. I can assure you Sir Richard wouldn't put up with it.
...

fatsurf says "Never Make Changes With Virgin Airlines" about Virgin Airlines

I'm currently waiting to talk with someone from Virgin "Guest Care" after getting the run around this morning while talking with several telephone agents. The previous day I had faxed in a doctor's letter stating I should not fly due to an ear infection (they had asked me to do this in order to make changes without adding the associated fees involved for making a change). The letter sent to "Guest Care" stated I needed to change my current travel plans with the airline and had a confirmation # attached along with fax number. I asked them to advise me with future booking options. No response! No e-mail, no letter sent through the fax stating my papers had been accepted or denied! Nada. Therefore, I'm waiting 2 more days until Monday to see if this gets anywhere. They said this morning that I have to buy NEW tickets at the current value with no value from my previous tickets. For a family of 3 that's approx. 1,400. Won't be flying with Virgin Airlines anymore after this experience!!!
...

jtrys says "Virgin America may be hip, but they have some growing up to do." about Virgin Airlines

I've flown virgin america about a dozen times in the last year with no problems.

In april, I booked a flight to Seattle for a wedding in July. For whatever reason, I never received a confirmation email of this flight. Two months later, thinking I hadn't yet booked a flight for this wedding (I searched my email for a flight I'd boked, nothing found) I booked another flight.

After booking the 2nd flight, I sent my itinerary to my sister. A few days later, she read it and said "I thought you told me in april that you'd booked a flight already', so I logged into my VA account, and sure enough, another flight was booked. I called Virgin and explained the situation to them. They said that yes, it appears I booked a duplicate flight, but that they would not allow me to cancel my fare without charging a $75 fee. I asked why, and they said that it wasn't a "perfectly duplicate" flight.

It turns out that my original arrival in seattle was Thursday for the first flight, and Friday for the...
...

Sadinseattle says "Stay Aware and Consumer Beware--Tricky Website" about Virgin Airlines

I spent 2 days thinking I cancelled a flight before it's scheduled departure, the difficulty of the website to cancel should be reviewed by a consumer agency since it is very difficult to receive confirmation that you actually cancelled the flight. To my disappointment I found out this evening that they are to busy to address my concerns--How selfish of me to think I would actually speak with a concerned customer service rep. Legally I was owed $228.40. They proceeded to explain that they did not receive the email I had sent and did not have a record of any calls. I however am a consumer who is due a quoted credit of the mentioned amount and was told that the supervisors were to busy to address my concerns, which may be why I didn't get a confirmation on my cancellation. Bad customer service, they did not have my authorization to rob me of the amount I am due. Think twice about flying this airline. I just had a wonderful conversation with a Jet Blue Rep, who was not only personable......

I just got back from Los Angeles, no thanks to Virgin America. They got me there just fine but getting back was a hellish experience that could have and should have been easily averted by people in customer service actually doing customer service.

I am a very budget-conscious traveler. Our family income is moderate and travel expenses are kept to a minimum in our family. When I learned that I needed to make a trip to L.A., I asked around and found out about the low fare ($129) from Boston to Los Angeles. This looked great so I booked two round-trip tickets for my husband and me.

We finished up matters in L.A. a little early so we contacted Virgin America about flying back East on an earlier flight. Imagine our shock when the customer service rep told us that we were flying back a month early! I checked our e-mail confirmation and saw that I had clicked on the wrong calendar (Virgin America's website displays two months side by side when you book tickets) when ordering tickets. ...
...

This airlines definitely provides more value for the money! Even though you buy the food and drink of your choice, for a price, they provide a nice sized menu, with something for everyone. The options ranging from videogames & movies, to pie or martinis, and the ease of purchase (just swipe your credit card), and to the very seats themselves...what a great way to fly....

i love flying virgin airlines to the uk. having a tv as well as a little goody pack in each seat is a bonus. the food is good for airline fare, the service is great and the flight attendants are sensitive to the customers needs. ive never had a problem with their customer service ( i was able to get on an earlier flight with no extra charges from jfk). its no wonder they they are now aligned with jet blue as virgin america. two no nonsense ailines dedicated to reasonable prices and good customer experiences....

I've flown Virgin Atlantic on over-night flight twice (2 seperate trips) and they were exceptional! The service even back in the "budget" section was great. They had good food, including a snack of Dove ice cream bars, and of course good English tea service! Upon awakening after the all nighter they came around with nice warm towels to freshen up. They are the ONLY airlines I will fly to/from England!...

cbatkins says "A shining star" about Virgin Airlines

Considering what slim picking the airlines have turned into these days - fuel costs are through the roof, so extra costs are getting passed onto the passengers, I find it isn't easy to find an airline, where the flight staff bother to be courteous let alone helpful and considerate. So I was happily surprised on my first trip on Virgin America. It was like going back in time. Extraordinarily kind and thoughtful flight staff. Handy personal tv monitors to keep you occupied during the flight with tv, movies, games and more. I would fly them again in a heartbeat....

We flew from SFO to LAX with Virgin America and we were quite impressed by the ameneties and comfortable flights. The flight took off on time as well.
They made their best impression when we forgot our flight's departure time and got to the airport barely 15 mins before the take-off. The front desk staff helped us by informing their team on the gate about our arrival and while we literally ran through the security and sprinted our way to the boarding gates, the virgin america staff made sure that we could board it.
We paid the lowest fare in the US for those tickets and had received the best service we could ask for. I would gladly recommend Virgin to anyone I know, though I don't recommend forgetting your departure time....

In March, we found this great deal from San Francisco to Las Vegas on Virgin Airlines. I can't remember exactly how much...I want to say $39 one way- it was unbelievably cheap so I couldn't resist. I've never been to "Sin City" so I thought this was an awesome trip with 3 of my girlfriends. After booking the tickets online, which was a breeze, we looked forward to trying this airline since we had some good reviews from other buddies. When we got to the gate, the ticketing agent was so personable and down-to-earth. This is one of the few times, we didn't feel rushed like cattle. Then, as we were boarding the plane, a very chipper ticketing agent greeted us all by name with a smile, even though it was about 6:00am in the morning! Oh yes, before we even boarded, they were asking for volunteers to play these games for prizes i.e. shooting a nerf ball into the basketball hoop. For a second, I thought we were in the wrong place! Although it was early in the morning, there...
...

I travel all the time - for work and for pleasure, with my family and alone. I have tried every airline I can find. I am a member of all sorts of frequent flying programs. Virgin comes out head and shoulders above the rest. The seats are relatively comfortable. The air staff is couteous and efficient. The frequent flyer perks are worth it. The online entertainment is sufficient. I have travelled with them at least ten times and they have never been late or delayed or cancelled. The tickets are affordable without being cheap. Really cheap tickets usually indicate really cheap airlines - equipment and staff. Generally a recipe for an uncomfortable flight....
