A peace Summit in Spain, a Presidential assassination. Follow several peoples steps and each of their perspectives starting at 11:59 am. Just before the assassination through to the bombing in the square, find the reaction of the News crew (Sigourney Weaver), Secret Service agents (Dennis Quaid & Matthew Fox), see every step they took. Some witnesses (Forrest Whitaker) to the terror attacks give clues to the who and why, but then assassins themselves have a turn, following them all the way to the conclusion and the subsequent cover up to explain the incident.

Very cool, I was unprepared for this one, not expecting to see the big event to happen in the first 5 minutes, then again, again, and again. The redo from all the different perspectives was such a great idea, they pulled it off well also. I had fun not only watching the story, trying to figure out who dunnit, but also looking for the interactions and the reason for things. The best part is figuring out what Dennis...
...

Helpr says "The trailer made the movie look better than it was" about Vantage Point

OH MY GOODNESS! lol was all i could say when watching this movie. I was extremely disappointed in the story. The trailer made the movie look better than It was. When I saw the trailer I desperately wanted to see the movie right away. It seemed as If it would actually be a great action film involving terrorists and scams where you wouldn't believe. Wrong!

I couldn't believe my eyes once I was into the movie like 30 minutes. I kept waiting all the way until the end of the movie for it to really come together. Once I realized that they were REALLY going to leave the audience with an incomplete story I just had to laugh.

Haven't been so disappointed in a movie since! It really was a cool thought, the movie tried to have a good plot but they really should have taken another year or TWO to complete the story line and fill in all of the excruciatingly deep holes in the plot.

Could have been a great film! However, they blew it. And I cant believe that actors so great would agree to be in such...
...

I finally had a chance to sit down and watch Vantage Point. Excellent movie. It has all the elements that make for a greatly exciting action movie, as well as a fantastic cast, and above all, the writers should be congratulated on such an involved conspiracy plot....

I am not going to go into any detail about this movie except to say that it was a movie that looks at each main character's actions during a terrorist act in Spain during a Summit.

Pros

Non-Gory (in today's film market that's hard to find in an action film)

PG-13

Suspenseful

No brain-er for those days you want to watch a movie and not have to "think" too hard about the plot

90 mins

Good for young teens--no sex and nudity, low violence.

Gets in your face about how other countries view the USA.

Cons

The usual ridiculous car chase

Mediocre acting

All in all I did enjoy watching it, but as soon as the car chase was 1/2 way through I lost some interest as it was way too long of a scene and absolutely ridiculous.

...

I recently rented Vantage Point and watched it on flight to Boston. I really enjoyed it and was quite surprised it did not get more play when it was released.

Vantage Point as the name implies, is told from several different points of view which in an of itself makes it interesting. The story is about the assasination of a President and it is set at a anti-terrorism conference in Spain.

Although Vantage Point is not a masterpiece, the acting is good, the story is engaging, and the various twist and turns make it exciting.

I highly recommend Vantage Point!
...

critickid1012345 says "Vantage Point is just OK" about Vantage Point

The movie Vantage Point is a movie that stars Forrest Whitaker who is ok in this movie, Sigourney Weaver who's good in this movie, William Hurt who plays the president of the U.S., who's ok, and the plot of this movie is about a terrorist attack, and there are at least 6 people who have vantage points, and they are....

1.Dennis Quaid (From Disney's The Rookie0

2.Sigourney Weaver (From Ghostbusters & Ghostbusters 2)

3.William Hurt (From Into the Wild)

4.Matthew Fox (From Lost & We Are Marshall

5.Forrest Whitaker!(From Phenomenon and The Last King of Scotland)

And all of these actors (and actresses, except for the killers) are top-notch actors, but in Vantage Point it seems as if this is a TV thriller like 24. So I would have to give this movie an overall score of a B- for the acting, Direction, and the Visuals. Also, I would have to give Vantage Point a Thumbs Down.
...

Conventional wisdom says that no two people see the same event unfold in exactly the same way. Everything that we witness is filtered by our individual perspective; i.e., physical location, state of mind, existing biases, and personal experiences. It is the intricacy and drama of the phenomenon known as Vantage Point that sets the stage of this utterly disappointing movie (for me, anyway; my hubby enjoyed it: The Bard's Review).

What could have been a fresh and unique way of storytelling ended up feeling interminable and stale. The main plot revolved around the attempted assassination of the fictional President of the United States. The movie introduces us to several witnesses to the crime, and then spends the rest of the film replaying each person's vantage point so that the viewer can see the event from the unique standpoint of the character. This is the feature of the movie that I thought showed a lot of promise. Unfortunately, the characters become overshadowed by unending...
...

Bottom-Line: But, despite Vantage Point's glaring flaws I found myself liking the film at least enough to give it a weak nod.

A really intelligent movie is getting hard and harder to find in Hollywood's modern day repertoire. There was a time when that was practically all Tinseltown produced, but somewhere along our journey into the 21st century, movies have gotten progressively airy and require less brain power to mentally digest. I have to admit there are times when I enjoy the witless movie as much as the next guy, but not all the time! Even the movie that promise intellectual stimulation only go so far and then, the brain balloon pops, and the treaded formulaic plot lines escape thus ruining the movie.

Such is the case with Vantage Point, the political thriller that looks at the attempted assassination of the U.S. President from 8 different perspectives. Vantage Point wants so badly to tell a story of intelligent intrigue, human drama, national arrogance, and international anger,...
...

I went into Vantage Point knowing that they were going to show certain scenes over and over from different people's point of view. That made me think the movie would get dull... however it never bored me for a minute!

At the start the world leaders are meeting in Spain for a summit to stop terrorism. Within minutes, the President of the US gets shot and hulled off in an ambulance. But what happened? Who did it? And how did they get away with it? That's the entire plot of the movie.

The Filming technique is that the scene is shown at the start from the POV of the camera crew inside a van. After the president gets shot, they rewind back to 12 noon and show the entire thing over from the POV of someone else. This happens again and again from different people's POV and every time we learn a new piece of information. Just when you think you know what happened, the whole thing changes on you once you see it from the other person's POV.

Once we've seen it from all the main characters...
...

Vantage Point is an entertaining movie -- if you don't want to think. However, the makers of Vantage Point are urging you to think about everything in this political action thriller. I thought the beginning and ending were good, especially the final 30 minutes. However, the middle (which repeats itself 30 times from six different perspectives) is where the movie bogs down. The story is told repeatedly and there are small details that the audience is supposed to hook onto, however, there are flaws in many places and the story-telling turns slightly unbelieveable. The basic movie is good and sound, but the details is where this movie lost me. Three stars....
