This past summer I had to take a graduate class to update one of my teaching certficates and it was not a good experience at all. The class at Phoenix itself was only 3 weeks long so coming from another online school I thought it would be like that. I was wrong.

UOPX required you to sign in at least 5 days a week and make 2 postings a day on their DB...I thought the online experience was supposed to be a convenient one, but this one was NOT. I am a person who by nature lives on my computer, but not day and night. Those three weeks at Phoenix were horrendous! I lived, ate, breathed my class and did more work in a non degreed class then I did for my undergraduate. I had no life within those 3 weeks and I barely saw my family. A colleague of mine also was going to the same school around the same time I was and he had the same experience I did.

This might also have to do with the thought that I am a perfectionist. I received an A in the class - the only time I got points taken off my assignments...
...

I was a little apprehensive when I started taking classes, but it has proven to be a wonderful experience. There are classes that are very time consuming and tough to complete, especially with my busy schedule, but it has been all worth it and I would recommend it to anyone--especially stay-at-home moms with children. I liked that you take a class for four weeks and then have a week off to relax before starting the next class. Most professors were very kind and available to help you when you have problems. Great school! And I will have my degree in just twelve months. University of Phoenix rocks!
...

Pushy? It has been 7 months since I initially spoke with you and you have still not got into college. You stated you were going to get into college immediately so you can better you and your kids lives. If someone is serious about that, would they just put that on the back burner for over 7 months, probably not. It has been an excuse every time I have spoke with you, no one can talk you into college if your talking yourself out of it. You stated you were too busy to go to a ground campus to do classes because of your kids and their health issues, what has changed? I have put more than enough effort into trying to help you get a degree. However, I want this degree more for you than you do for yourself. It won't ever work that way. Every college is going to have good and bad reviews, that is what is every business has and I am sorry if you don't realize that. I am sorry that you feel "now" is not the time for you, will it ever be? I encourage you to take some writing, grammar,...
...

I completed both Associate and Bachelor's of Science in Information Tech here. The convenience was awesome. Did have issues with the team assignments, because I hate relying on other people for a decent grade. My biggest problem was with 'participation' in my courses. You get graded on how much you post and are required to interact with your classmates or it will hurt your grade. I can understand why they do this but, for me, it was horrible. Most the people in my classes were pretty dumb, (adult learners) and didn't really post anything I could have a decent conversation with them about and I wasn't getting points for posting responses to myself. Yes, this school requires a lot of papers, but that I didn't mind. All and all I had a couple of really bad teachers, but not more then a handful. One guy was determined to fail me and not very helpful. Advisors change pretty regularly here, but not as bad as some other places. I maybe had new people 3 times in the 4 years. Also, you will have...
...

I love UofP for many reasons. The only thing that I don't like about it is the cost. I currently have my AA in Criminal Justice and am pursuing my BS in Human Services/Management. I am in debt up to my elbows with loan payments but it wouldn't be college if you weren't in debt. I have searched other schools and haven't found them to be for me. Phoenix offers the largest amount of degrees and majors than other schools. All of their credits are transferrable...not that I am changing school! It's just another great things about Phoenix. Right now each class is about $1600; that's for three credits and the bachelors courses are five weeks long. Yes, it's expenisive, but I have never had problems.

The bachelors programs have team assignments (I am unaware how other schools organize themselves!). Sometimes the teams are unfair and there have been times when I have had to stand up and complete a whole assignment for someone who was a slacker. I am not afraid of a challenge and this is what I......

I am a grad student at UOP. I am a proud phoenix and love the teachers. Phoenix is a great university and it's a very accredited and renown school. The only thing I don't like is that the tuition rates have gone up three times in two years. You can normally get away with skimming the reading. You have to do discussion questions every week but the more you do them the faster you are at completing them. The advisors are very nice but it can be hard to reach them sometimes. Most of my classmates love Phoenix and enjoy the classes.
...

The University of Phoenix and Axia College are a waste of you time and money. You can get your degree but if you deside to transfer to another school your credits will NOT transfer. UoP classes are not recognized by other schools as actual college classes. The UoP will mess with your financial aid to the point of driving you crazy. They hold your money from you for MONTHS at a time. The customer service is the absolute WORST I have ever come in contect with. They give you what they call a graduation team consisting of an enrollment counselor, a financial counselor, and an acidemic advisor.....NOw let me tell you if you are EVER able to get a return phone call or email from ANY of these people consider yourself BLESSED! My advice to anyone considering the UoP.....run...run very fast in the other direction because you will be wasting your time and money to go there!!!
...

I attended University of Phoenix and found that the money being charged is outrageous for the quaility of the education recieved. I believe that the school charged $1500 per class because they know people are desperate for the flexible schedule that is offered. I know that the teachers only get paid $25 per hour of class time, so why is a class of 20 student paying, collectively, $30,000 and the teacher is only receiving $500. I fail to see how it costs the school an extra $29,500 for 5 weeks of class. It cost that much to line the pockets of the administrators and that is simply a rip off.
...

I am almost done with university of phoneix's online program for my masters in elementary education. I have hated it. I got my BA online through another school and I loved it! UoP's website is CONSTANTLY down, and it is hard to use. The online library is confusing, it is required that you pay like $80 for hte ebook even if you never open it, they call you constantly, they are not up front about things, the acedemic advisors quit every month and you have to talk to someone new, and it costs a fortune. It was ideal for me because I could do it online, but it turned out to be more of a pain than anything. Also, I was NEVER told that I would actually have to fly out to arizona (I live in nebraska) to take a test! Holy crap! After 15 months into the program and all but 4 classes taken, I was told that the state of nebraska does not have some test available that they require for each state so I would need to go to arizona to take theirs. Oh, and also, the test costs $300 and...
...

I completed my degree in July, 2009. This school might have its problems just like any other traditional school and other online institutions, but is a good school. The price could seem high but it saves time, money in gas, in parking fees that some colleges charge to students; even in food if you attend classes after work or over the weekends. With UoP you have access to all books for 75.00 dollars, is up to you if you want to save them in your computer, and print the material you need. Books are very expensive; therefore UoP system saves you money.

About learning teams, that was my biggest complain with the program, given the case that you have team work in every single class and which represents 30% of you grade. Still, you could learn from this experience.

I believe most of people who have complained about this university had a different idea of online education, and never thought that online programs could be as demanding as UoP programs are. In regard to instructors,...
...

I enrolled in University of Phoenix in Jan because my work would pay for half of all my classes. The school told me I had to pay for the classes first, then when my work paid them for half, they would refund my half back to me. I enrolled in 2 classes and paid in full for both of them, my work paid the school for half. The school will not refund me. It has been since March and I am still fighting them. I have complained to everybody I can write to, I have sent certified letters with proof that I paid them and that my school paid them. You can look right on my UOP account and see that they owe me money. There are not denying it, they have admitted it several time, they just won't pay me. During my second class when I saw I was not getting my money back from the first class, I asked not to be enrolled in any future classes. I was afraid they would take more money out of my account. The school dropped the class I was currently taking. The class I had just paid 1620.00 for and my work paid...
...

It sounds great..school when you want go to class when you want. No parking pass...awesome? NOOOO...do not waste your money or time. Education is a very valuable but not one from this school. They accept anyone they have changed my couselors twice they are very unstable. Many question have gone unanswered because the staff are not educated to answer them. In addition...the work is easy...they over charge you...and you will not find a decent job. I have been at this school since 2008 I have been in classes with other student who do not have ordinary spelling, grammer and sentence structure skills. The work and assignments are equivalent to the work of your average 8th grader. The finacial aid and pell grants are held by the school until they feel it is nessacery to release them to you. For instance, my refund money was due to me the 23 of last month I had not received it until the end of the month due to them holding it. They are strickly out to get your money they charged me twice for...
...

I just completed a BS in Business with majors in Accounting and Information Systems through University of Phoenix Online Campus. I won't lie to you - it was a lot of hard work and it was exhausting working and going to school at the same time. But it was so worth it in the end, and I feel like I received a very high-quality education. When I first graduated high school, I went to a traditional university for awhile and, like many students, I majored in partying. I soon dropped out and entered the workforce where I found that lack of a degree to be a major drawback. It didn't matter that I was smart and could do the job -- I needed proof in the form of that degree before anyone would take me seriously. One of the best decisions I've ever made was to go back to school and get my degree, and I'm glad I chose University of Phoenix. One thing I find very refreshing is that the instructors aren't a bunch of professors sitting in their ivory towers with no clue how the real business...
...
