USAA is the company that my family has used for insurance for a long time. The only way to have access to this insurance company is if you were in the military or if one of your family members had their insurance through USAA.

USAA has been exactly what my husband and I have needed for auto insurance. My husband previously used State Farm to insure just his car. When we got married he switched to USAA with me. The cost to insure both of our cars through USAA is cheaper per month than it was to insure just his one car through State Farm. On top of that, I have heard that at the end of the year, if USAA has taken in more money than they have needed to spend on claims, we will receive a check in the mail. My father has received checks up to $200 in the past. You would never find that with any other insurance company. On top of that, the people you speak with are the most helpful and friendly people!

USAA has always worked with me. They don't add crazy fees or make banking difficult. I love USAA!

If you or any of your family members are members of the military, or have served in the military in the past, then you may be eligible for USAA membership. My parents were members, and I have established my own membership since I graduated from college. I would not use any other insurance company.

How do I know that USAA if very competitive? Let me provide an example of when another company conducts a cold call to see if I would be interested in switching to their products.

Caller: Hi, my name is ___, and I work for ___ Insurance Company. We're offering low attractive rates which I hope you can benefit from. Who is your current insurance provider?

Me: USAA/

Caller: Oh, ok, thank you for your time and have a nice day. (Hangs up)

If other insurance companies don't even try to compete against USAA policies, then why should I look elsewhere. I can handle my banking, investing, retirement savings, and insurance policies all through one easy location.

I've been a member for 17 years and have financed two houses and a car with them. Lately, bank reps have started to promote mortgage refi and other offerings. While I love USAA, the reps should handle the question you called about and stop perusing accounts to determine what financial vehicle they want to offer.

We have/had been with USAA for 29 years about a year ago our insurance lapsed because I lost track of the bill... What a very stupid thing to do my mistake and I freely admit it! When we called USAA to reinstate our auto insurance they refused to re-issue our insurance based on a Chapter 13 wage earner plan my husband had been under 15 years prior.... Needless to say we acted quickly to move our insurance to another company when I called to complain and check on my homeowners policy I was informed that the representive had made a MISTAKE our insurance could have stayed with USAA. To late now we had already moved to another company and paid the premiums.

I had added a umbrella policy to our homeowners to cover both my husband and myself. When I called in tonight I was informed that I did not have a umbrella policy and that they could not issue a policy high enough because I was a HIGH RISK insured individual because our insurace had lapsed. I have been a member with USAA since I was old enough to enroll. I have numerous accounts with them and use them for as much as possible. I have a credit card, renter's insurance, property insurance, as well as auto insurance. The only thing they do not offer currently that I need is motorcycle insureance. However, the auto insurance rates save me the most money. My husband, before we got married, was paying over $200 a month for liability on one vehicle. Now that we have USAA, we pay only $140 a month for three vehicles! I even plan to go through USAA when it comes time to buy my first home. The people that work at USAA are always so friendly and helpful. It is not a hassle to get ahold of an actual human being when calling. Also anytime I have called, the person I have spoken with was extremely knowledgable. There is no need to transfer you around until someone knows the answer to your question. First, getting insurance from USAA is quick and easy. I called from the car dealer and had the card faxed to me...same with my home insurance. I made a claim on the roof of my house, USAA was at my house to inspect the roof. I received a check for the cost of repair (minus the deductible) that week. I also had my rental car ruined by hurricane Ike, I didn't even have to pay the deductilbe. USAA Customer Service is first class, always a pleasure....

I have several accounts with USAA: Auto Insurance, Savings, Checking and Brokerage. I absolutely love them. The best thing about them is their customer service. I've called several times (sometimes to ask some really stupid questions), and the customer service representatives are always very helpful and curtious. And you never have to wait on the line to speak with a representative. They also have this really cool feature where you can scan or take a picture of a check and they will deposit it into your account. That's exceptionally convienient to me, because I move a lot and its hard to find a bank that is all the places I want to be. Oh, and they also pay for your ATM fees, so you can get money from any ATM without having to worry about a fee.

My only complaint is that I had to open an account with TD Ameritrade, which does have slightly lower commision charges for their brokerage accounts, in order to buy a mutual fund that interested me since USAA has a very limited number...

We have been with USAA for many years now. They have been so wonderful we have left other companies for them. They are our home and auto insurance provider, we have our home loan through them and even a credit card and auto loan. They are always there, ready to help when we have needed them. Wonderful customer service, great rates!

2 yrs ago, I set up auto bill pay, and then went on tour for 2 months. When I got back, I opened a letter saying my ins was canceled due to non payment. USAA even admitted that it was their fault that the rep entered my bank info incorrectly resulting in the lapse in coverage, but it wasn't enough...my rates rised $200!

the last straw? cut and paste from my bbb complaint:

repeated calls for assistance ignored. Services as insurance company neglected.

My car was broken into on 10/29, leaving a broken out passenger window, and no security for my vehicle from intruders and inclement weather. I filed a claim on 10/30 which was ignored. No claims adjuster called me that day, and my car was exposed to the rain and intruders over the weekend (Halloween weekend). Still no calls on Monday 11/2, so I called and filed the claim AGAIN. Following that, i escalated to express my concerns with a manager who then asked me to repeat all the info pertaining to my claim and now challeged my personal property...
