I first got a USAA checking and savings account because my husband was active-duty military. They are pretty much a totally online company. But that meant I wouldn't always have to close accounts at one duty station and move around my money everytime we PCS'd. You must always use another bank's ATM's which for the most part charge you a fee. USAA reimburses you for all ATM fees incurred. You get a rebate for using your check card for non PIN based transactions.

It's good if you get direct deposit. They give you free postage paid envelopes to send in paper checks should you need to deposit them. They say the funds are posted to your account the day they receive the check, not when it clears. I have only sent them 2 paper checks. They both took almost two weeks to show up in my account. Even though USAA is strong and hasn't had any organizational problems, I don't put all my eggs in one financial basket. So I use my local bank for paper checks.

I have been a steady and loyal customer with USAA since 1975 have NEVER FILED A CLAIM.

I carry the maximum coverage on 2 houses with them and was very surprised this year when they appraied my property and raised my rates by nearly 25%. My FICO credit score is over 800 and I carry no debt.

I called them several times and requested another appraisal of my property. I know what it costs to replace my property to current codes and the price they now charge me for replacement coverage is totally out of line with the costs in my area.

They eventually stopped returning my calls. It is obvious they consider me expendable and their refusal to even consider another appraisal says it all.

I know the insurance companies have suffered big losses in their investment reserves. They often invest long term excess funds in real estate and we all know what has happened to that category. The same applies to equities as well. I wonder how much they invested in Collateralized Mortgage...

USAA insurance has been so helpful to our family. Our most recent claim was over a power outage that lasted a week. We were making a claim over some other damage that had been done and our agent asked us how much we lost in food. I told him, and by the end of the phone call, we had money in our account for the food we lost during the power outage. In other instances, USAA has been great through auto claims and everything. Not to mention, every once in a while I comparison shop to make sure I am getting a good deal. It never fails, USAA always has the best price!

USAA Insurance company is a good old conservative company. They started by just insuring officers in the Armed Forces, then branched out to other military and to military member's families. The best thing about them is that all business is done over the phone, although sometimes this can be a disadvantage because of the lack of face to face conversation.

Their prices are competitive and reasonable, although lately, the money saved does not seem to be as great as it once was.

We have been with USAA for 8 years now and have had not one complaint. The customer service reps are the best by far. They really take their time and find out what products and services are best suited for you and your family. They really know about the military family and life style. They are very familar with PCSing and they try to releive some of that stress. We have on several occassions price compared our Auto Innsurance with other companies. USAA has always been the lowest by far. Several companies when called asked who our policy holder is and when they found out it is USAA they didn't even try to get any more information from me. I was told that they would be wasting their time and mine because they cannot come close. One thing that I really like about USAA is that my children are also entitled to be members, lifetime members. Besides Insurance we also love their banking services. We are able to make deposits right from our home computer with our scanner. NO need...

I loved using USAA. I don't know how I ever got along without them. I used to have insurance through them and my car loan through them at one point. I was even able to get a credit card and a bank account through them. They also offer so many different things including financial advice and renters insurance. They gave me the best rates out of anyone I looked at. I was able to pay all my USAA bills online from their website. The website was very easy to use. Any time that I had a question or needed help with anything, they were always happy to help. They were always very nice and very helpful. They hands down had the best customer service I had ever seen. But because of the economy, I am no longer a costomer. I do miss using them though.

The down side is that you have to be serving in the military or be a spouse or a dependant of someone serving in the military. They also don't have any banks you can go to. But they do have a feature for bank deposits that allows you to scan a check,...

I've been a member of USAA for years, besides their credit card I also have car insurance with them. My rates are rock bottom and have been for years, and most important, their customer service is stellar. I actually enjoy calling and speaking to their representatives because you get the impression that you are calling and talking to a person in an office, not a call center.

Everyone I have spoken to at USAA Insurance is knowledgable about the product (no sending you to another department or person), articulate, and they care.

I know that not everyone is entitled to USAA and its products and that is too ba simply because it would force other financial institutions to raise their standards.
