jakestar says "Great show, except for two things..." about True Blood

This is a solid show with well formed characters and an eerie intro. There is a vibe about this story that entices it's viewers and always delivers with sex, blood and intrigue. The kind of intrigue that keeps you pasted to the TV screen and leaves you hungry for more when the end credits roll. I have only two issues with this show; first, having read the books I of course expected Sookie to be a beautiful women and I was extremely let down to find she had been replaced with a women that looks like an incredibly unconvincing transvestite, ugly is being too gentle, she is hideous. And in Tara's place is a bad cliche of an angry black women. I am bias naturally having read the books, but how did you feel about these issues?
...

HBO's True Blood is a huge hit in my home. I try my best not to miss an episode, if I do, it's already set to my DVR.

From the setting to the characters, True Blood brings something different and super sexy to HBO's series line up.

I enjoy all the twist and turns that the characters endure. From Sookie trying to find who or what she really is, to wondering if in the next season they stick to the orginal story of Bill keeping a secret about the real reason he came into Sookie's life!

Plus seeing Eric, on the screen, is true eye candy! Hey Sookie, if you don't want him, I will gladly take him for myself. LOL.

As far as characters are concerned, I think there is a bit of everything. You can take your pick of who is your favorite! Could it Tara, Lafayette, Sam, Jason, Sookie, Bill, Eric..etc.

I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys action, romance, vampires, and a bit of the paranormal. Take a bite out of True Blood!

I'll see you at Fangtasia!
...

Not since the X-Files has there been a show that at the end of each episode keeps you at the edge of your seat waiting with an anticipation for the next episode. The writing is sharp and not predictable like so many other shows out there. Love the cast and Sam Trammel is super hot as Sam Merlotte. I like the lyrics and music to the opening song but the pictures are a little gross and sometimes I have to cover my eyes when it gets to gory otherwise this is my favorite non news show.
...

HBO's true Blood was captivating at first episode! I have watched every episode as it was broadcast on tv and I still went out to buy the DVD set. I have since sat down and re-watched the entire first season. There is a new twist in every episode that keeps me on my couch waiting for Sunday nights to arrive. True Blood displays vampires in a whole new light. Vampires are no longer just the blood thirsty monsters in capes that Dracula once portrayed. Vampires and humans can now coincide. Although some vampires are still the stereotypical version of what we expect, true Blood shows how some now 'main stream' and live amongst us as fellow community members and possibly even as friends. Shape shifters, telepathics, vampires and humans unite! Fellowship of the Sun and their bible thumping pack will learn that not all of the supernatural is against god and the human race. I can't wait for the third season to start so i can see what happens next in this small town in Louisiana.
...

I love True Blood! The show is loosely based upon the Sookie Stachouse novels writen by Charlaine Harris. The show is amazing. HBO can really produce some winners. It keeps you on the edge of your seat for the whole hour and when it's over you can't wait until next week. It's hard to describe what category the show is in. It's a fine mixture of comedy and action. The acting is superb. I highly recommend reading the books. The show doesn't completely follow the books. Alan Ball directs the show, he aslo directed six feet under
...

KathyScappace says "It's Soo-key not Sucky" about True Blood

Fans of Charlaine Harris' southern vampire series already know that Sookie is pronounced Soo-key. It is an old southern word for sister. The character of Sookie is about the only one taken heavily from the books. Vampire Bill, played by Steven Moyers, is the same only in residence, life situation, and accent. Eric needs work. I'm sorry but that's just the way it is! Eric needs to be more like the Eric in the books not some pimped up beefcake. Pam is too hard edged for my tastes but I'm willing to give her some time to mature.

I miss the close friendship between Jason and Hoyt but I do like HBO's Hoyt as a person. Also, I enjoy the relationship between him and his girlfriend.

One of the things I miss in True Blood is the population of Weres. The Were community has been predominant throughout the Sookie novels since "Living Dead in Dallas" and I always enjoyed Sookie's interactions with them. The lack of them is leaving a flat feeling to the series, I think.

Speaking of "Living Dead in...
...

TRU BLOOD is a new twist to the old vampire tales. It combines death, murder, blood, gore & guts with southern hospitality, love and caring tenderness from a creature once thought incapable of such feelings.

I first read a few of the Sookie Stackhouse novels several years ago. They were great, and it's always nice to see a different spin put on vampires. Both in the books and the tv show adaptation True Blood, the characters are so rich, the story pulls you in. I added the HBO package to my cable just so I could watch the show( my only treat). The show is a great mix of comedy, drama, soft-core porn and mystery. Being from Louisiana I found the accents much closer than what most movies and tv shows consider a "Southern accent". Even the intro to the show captures the odd mix of sex and religion in Louisiana. I tell everyone about the show. I know all types of people that watch it, ranging from very religious baby boomers to people in high school. You're not going to find a broader mix than that. If you watch the show and like it, I suggest reading the books afterward, as there are slight variations, but overall the books and show are very similar.
...

I have to say True Blood is one of the best shows on television right now. True Blood is exciting, funny, suspenseful, and sexy all at the same time. It is even scary for some people, but not to much and not for me. The characters are wonderful at their roles and you can tell they do not hold back on their acting or roles. There are so many differant characters, that know each other and have differant and crazy things goin on around them, and alot ties together more and more as the show goes on. Their are vampires, vampires haters, fang bangers, and some just crazy people..lol. It pertrays the way things could possible be if vampires and people were both living in our world today. As the season goes on their are more characters, that are well out of this world. That is as good as I can tell you without giving away parts to a story that unfolds as you watch it. So watch it,You'll probably get hooked, I did. And If you do, you'll be gald I didn't give you too many character details,or it would have...
...

True Blood has far surpassed Charlainne Harris' hopes! Not only have her books won awards,( that - perhaps, she didn't expect to get,) But the HBO has 'enhanced' her books, and their show is running rampant!

Anna Pacquin, (who plays Sookie Stackhouse-) the main character in the CH books, has also earned several awards by taking on this role. She already won an Oscar at age 11 for her acting in the film 'The Piano'...

What is so fabulous about the series, (I think, ) is the fact that Anna, Steven, Alex, Ryan, and several others on the series, do NOT speak with a southern accent; as a matter of fact, Steven is a Brit, Anna-now hails from Canada, Ryan is of Austailian decent, and so on...If you watch the show at all, and are a fan, this is old news...

I think that Steven Moyer hit it 'Dead On' ( pardon the pun), when he told an interviewer that he felt that Twilight was the Diet Coke of vampire movies. Don't misunderstand me:

I do like the Twilight books and series; but True Blood...
...

True Blood the complete first season is amazing. The only problem I have with the show is the accents that some of the characters have. All of the actors are amazing but some of them have horrible southern accents. I love that thee show is about vampires. Vampires are my favorite science fiction / horror creatures ever amd there are not enough good vampire movies or shows arouind. It is a good thing that True Blood is on HBO because I don't think it would be the same without all of the nudity, language, blood, and anything else that would not be allowed on regular cable channels.
...
