It was a miserable weekend here in the North East. There was rain and the temperatures were in the teens. Perfect weekend to sit home and curl up and watch some movies. Went to the Red Box and rented 5 movies. One of them, Tropic Thunder. Horrible. Lame. Stupid. Just plain bad. Boring plot. I am a huge fan of Ben Stillers. Even the movies all star cast couldn't hold me or my fiances attention. I wont even waste another breath of air on reviewing this.

Remembering that I'd read good reviews of Tropic Thunder as a comedy film, I chose this as a rental DVD. My husband watched 5 minutes and left the room in disgust. I managed to reluctantly watch nearly all of it, trying to figure out why it had received good reviews, but finally could not force myself to stay with it to the end. The vulgarity was crude to the max and way way beyond what was necessary or desirable. The plot idea was excellent, but the dialogue was not. Thankfully, much of the time the actors were not enunciating clearly, although the swearing and vulgar bits unfortunately were discernable too often. The acting was generally too far over the top. In a few places, the actors seemed to turn down the acting to a more normal, believable and fun level so that one could hope the movie would level out and become enjoyable, but it didn't happen. Someone should try this plot line again, same actors, different dialogue.

I was a bit disappointed when watching Tropic Thunder. I had waited and waited to see it. I heard it was the best comedy of the year. I kept waiting for it to get better... and it never did. Very slow, and not as funny as I was hoping. It did however have a great cast. There were some good spots, but overall I was disappointed....

First off, this Movie is great, as long as your willing to get past some blood and gore. The Movie is hilarious, each character has his own role in the movie.

Ben Stiller plays as the action movie star, whom is failing out of hollywood at the moment with flops such as "Simple Jack", which is brought back to him many times throughout the movie. Once he is captured by a group of violent drug thugs, he is made to perform his role before the group of thugs as their entertainment.
Bottom Line - If you love Ben Stiller, you'll love this movie.

Jack Black plays as the large guy with a large gun. However, his true personality happens to be that of a drug addict, and after a point in the movie is tied to a tree by the rest of his squad. Jack Black is not seen at his best in this movie, but is still able to make you laugh.

Robert Downey Jr. plays the most experienced actor for the movie, having been nominated several times for theatrical awards and winning some for his other roles. In the...

This was a pretty funny movie. I actually laughed out loud the entire time. There were a lot of hilarious camios from famous actors.... but the one thing I didn't care for the was the teasing of mentally challanged people. I think that was a little over the top for me....

Went for Tropic Thunder not expecting much but was pleasantly surprised. The movie is funny, slapstick at times but a good entertainer. The jokes can get crude at times. The theatre audience was laughing out loud. Recommend watching. Got a great star caste, all my favs. Loved Tom Cruise in the movie. He danced so funny. Could not belive it was him at the beginning. Produced by Ben Stiller....

I really loved Tropic Thunder. I went to go see it with my mom and her friend, at the theater where i work. I was expecting it to be disappointing at first, but it picked up and got me laughing. It have it's anti PC moments but since i have a anti PC sense of humor i found it funny. I was surprised about Tom Cruise's cameo because how serious his church acts about anything. I do recommend this movie but i do advise you if you have a PC type humor i suggest to throw everything out the window if you plan to see this movie....

Really had high expectations for this film. For once for a comedy in the last year a film delivered and that film is no other than Tropic Thunder. Time to wake up america and realize that Ben Stiller is a phenomenal writer, director, actor. Give the man the credit he deserves. If you take this movie for what it is and don't over examine every detail like a dumba** then you will love this movie however if you are easily offended by the words retard or ethnic slander then you probably should'nt see it however if you can get past that with a comic mindset then my friends please don't delay in seeing this film as it is comic genius at it's best....

This is the best comedy I have seen in a long time. I rarely go to back to see a movie twice. But this one needed a second look. I was so busy laughing that I missed parts. I enjoyed the entire cast. Robert Downy Jr...what can I say.. I think this has been his best movie yet. The cast was full of talent. I may go watch it a third time. A fabulous part of this comedy was there were no sex scenes!! WTG!...

Tropic Thunder - Go See what the fuss is about!
I was already curious about the new flick by Robert Downey Jr., Ben Stiller and Jack Black when I started seeing interviews about the film's "controversial" nature. ??? Surely people were not up in arms about a white man playing a black man......actors have been portraying the opposite sex, foreigners and other races for years. It couldn't be THAT, could it?

We arrived on time for the movie and got the shock of our lives, which turned into a big laugh on us. GET THERE ON TIME, PEOPLE! ;-) That's all I can say about that without being a spoiler.

And remember, when you start flinching, YOU HAVE BEEN PROGRAMMED BY SOCIETY TO BE UNCOMFORTABLE IWTH HUMOR. Tropic Thunder is a PARODY. Parodies take no prisoners. Everyone is fair game. EVERYONE! ;-D

Downey Jr. is remarkable as a white Australian actor playing a black American soldier. Kudos to him in this aural version of "Face-Off." ...
