chuckhawley says "The Prius: I'd buy it even if it weren't a hybrid" about Toyota Prius - 2007

I know the main appeal about the Toyota Prius is the extremely good gas mileage (although I am more aggressive and only average 45MPG), but what I really like about it is the utility of the interior. The hatchback is truly versatile, and with the fold-down back seats you get an enormous area to pack your gear. With the rear seat backs in the up position, it will actually seat two adults or three kids (and I put the driver's seat all the way back.) It truly has more room than many larger cars.

The controls and dash take some getting used to, and while there are things that I would change, for the most part it works for me. The video screen has some very useful modes (checking the economy, back-up camera, heating and ventilation) and also some ridiculous ones (bad navigation system, bad audio screen, and some very bad UI regarding how to set up personalization). You'd think with all of the good navigation systems out there (particularly Garmin) that you wouldn't have to spend $2000 to get...
...

I can't say enough good things about the 2007 Prius. The car is a dream in LA, it is fun to drive, SO smooth, and - of course - is using so little gas. It easily fits 3 across the back row, and all the little extras like GPS, reversing camera, bluetooth etc work like a dream. We have had no problems with it at all. The only thing I would change would be the solid bar across the rear window, which partially hinders the view out the back, but it is a very tiny inconvenience...

swatson99 says "The best car to get you started in the Hybrid world" about Toyota Prius - 2007

We absolutely love this car and everything about it, including all the toys and gadgets that come standard at an unbelievably cheap price. We mainly purchased this car for it's gas saving hybrid capabilities since my husband commutes 3 hours everyday (1 1/2 hrs there and 1 1/2 hrs back). This car had the highest MPG recommendation and the price was right and the gadgets abundant.

It did take a little getting used to at the start, since some of the features are ahead of the curve. For the first few weeks I felt like I was in the Jetson's car. I was really not used to the push button starting (you put your foot on the brake pedal and click the button on the dash to start). As long as the 'key' (a little electronic device) is in your pocket, purse or in the car somewhere, your car will start. Then the gear shift is not your normal console gearshift down in the middle of between the seats. It was this little tiny miniscule gearshift on the dashboard.

Everyone's favorite is the awesome......

We recently purchased our 2007 Toyota Prius from Wesly Chapel Toyota and could not be more pleased, it is an outstanding car for the money.

Our first long distance trip was from Zephyrhills, FL to Bioloxi, MS and when we arrived we were amazed to find that we still had a 1/4 of a tank left. We would highly recommened this car to anyone looking to save both money and gas. The Prius comes equiped with a back up camera and while driving it is so quiet hard to believe you are surrounded by other cars.
...

My fiancee and I bought this car a year ago. We loved it then, and we still love it now. My fiancee commutes an hour to work everyday so we needed a car with good gas mileage. It gets great gas mileage and is also very comfortable. I love how roomy it is inside. We have a friend who is over six feet tall. He can sit comfortably in the back seat with pleanty of room for his head and legs....

This hybrid lives up to its "green" reputation without giving the poor service one might fear could be the trade-off. The interior is comfortable (more headroom and legroom than my old Ford Tempo!) the handling is fine, and the mileage, while not meeting the advertised numbers (what car ever does?) is well beyond any other I've driven. I average about 43 miles to the gallon in my daily driving.

It is a little slippy on ice, as it's lighter than my old car, but just required me to adjust my expectations and driving style. Speaking of driving style, the constant feedback the driver gets from the consumption panel can really educate one to be a more efficient driver. I don't know what its 0-60 rating is, but that's not the way I want to drive. . .

I would buy this car again in a minute! I hope to drive the one I have for many years, but when the time comes to trade it in, I expect to look at the next generation of the same.

...

this is a wonderful car and i would buy another one if i could, however since this is a review, i will tell you the negaives i have found:

it is very slow from a stop, and would not be a car you could move out of the way of something very quickly... if you need to move fast, you'll get crushed becuase it just wont react

it is very spendy to start with, and since it hasnt been around and hybids all together havent ben around much, it is also speny for an service (most times you have to go to the dealers because no one elese knows about them)

you wont get good gas mileage until it warms up, so if you live fairly close to were you drive most often, you wont get the mileage you'd expect. (same thing if you dirve at speeds higher that about t65 a lot too)

but it is very nice, comfy and great to drive and comes with a but load of sotrage and cool features, so i would definately get one again... maybe thenext generation one they're supposed to come out with soon.....

also very roomy
...

I have always driven compact cars because I couldn't afford anything else, but now I drive a Prius by choice. This car has everything I have ever wanted in a previous vehicle and didn't have.

The hatchback and fold down seats have plenty of storage and hauling space, while the hatchback cover keeps things out of sight. The rear window wiper is the best! Having snow accumulate on a hatchback window while driving is unnerving, but now I can keep it clean and see what's going on behind me. The rear camera for reverse is absolutely wonderful, especially in parking lots!

The keyless entry with the engine immobilizer makes it safe in crowded areas and urban parking garages. I even get the theft deterrent discount on my car insurance. The 6 CD changer is more than I need, but it's really nice for road trips. No more worrying about getting a radio station while travelling through several states.

I absolutely love the little tire pressure light! I had noticed my mileage drop a bit,...
...

How many ways can you say "I love my car" ? I feel so safe in it. As the commercial says, it's quite zippy. It was more than we originally planned to spend on a new car but it makes up in monthly payment what we save in gas money. It's also roomier than it looks. We fit three adults, a baby in a car seat, and 3 weeks of luggage (six suitcases and six carry-ons) into this car. I especially love the console that allows me to monitor my MPG's and improve my driving to conserve gas. The bluetooth handsfree works great and will help me be in compliance with upcoming CA laws on cell phone use in cars. The back up camera gives me security while backing out of my driveway in a neighborhood with small children. I'm so glad to be saving the environment while I'm saving money on gas.

Next on my wish list? A Toyota hybrid mini-van (I hear it's coming soon) to accomodate our growing family.
...
