Okay, so I thought to myself that maybe a Prius would be the automobile for me. I was wrong. I need something with a bit more power, and it needs to have room. I felt like a clown in that car. Yeah it's great on gas mileage, but i cannot extend my legs and drive comfortably in the vehicle. Found out that it definetly was not the right automobile for me at this point in my life. The pricing for this vehicle is great, and you save money at the pump, but at what cost. I travel so much I would have to get out every 50 miles just to stretch my legs, so I went and looked at the Toyota Matrix and that car is slammin'.
...

I own The Maids Home Services of Frederick and Northern Montgomery counties in Maryland. About three years ago, when oil was way under $50.00 a barrel, I began to switch my fleet of cars from Ford Escort and Ford Focus to Toyota Prius. Everyone laughed at me. They said oil will never reach $100 per barrel, the Prius is silly, how could I justify the extra cost over Fords, etc., etc., etc.

Well eight Prius' and three years later those same people are calling me asking me how I like them, what kind of gas mileage do I get and what are the repair costs. Well I get an average of 44 miles to a gallon, have no repair bills and just love the car. The only problem is...yes there is a problem...if you leave on any sort of light i.e.: dome light or vanity light the car battery, the one that starts the car, will be dead in eight hours or less. And if you have a jumper box in the hatch you will have to fling your body over the rear seats since the hatch has no key hole to open it. Toyota......

Everyone that I talked to when I first bought my Prius asked me if I thought it was dangerous to drive such a quiet car. The first time someone asked me that, I was taken aback, but the next time someone did, I asked them back "Wouldn't it be nice if all cars were this quiet?" Think of the city traffic that would be quieter! If everyone drove hybrid vehicles and then someone invented the V8, there would be an uproar from people about noise pollution!

Speaking of pollution, the Prius does not pollute nearly as much as a gasoline vehicle. At least in California, that means that the Prius is exempt from smog checks!
...

Viper9 says "Best Gas Mileage of any car on the market right now!" about Toyota Prius - 2005

The 2005 Toyota Prius has an actual gas mileage of 45 on the highway and about 50-55 city driving in town. The only drawback is that when it drops below freezing then the gas mileage will drop also. The dealer claims that's inherent because it takes the on-board computer 10 days to adjust itself from the climate in New Mexico to say Nebraska during the winter months. This Feb 2008 we saw gas mileage lowest of 28-35 mpg, then once we came back to New Mexico it was once again 45 mpg. I just wish they had a lumbar in the seats of the Prius as this is our primary over the road vehicle. We had previously owned a 2002 GMC Yukon, a 1999 Dodge Avenger, a 1992 Mitsubishi 3000 GT-VR4, and now have a 2004 Chevy Corvette....

I love my Prius. It's almost become one of my friends. I don't mean to be one of those weird Prius loving people, but it really is a great car. When I bought the car, I was living in California and I couldn't think of a better car to have in Los Angeles. My car can go about 450 miles on a 10 gallon tank, so I rarely have to get gas. And the car is surprisingly roomy inside - I always am surprised at how much can fit in the car whenever I need to pack it up.

I was recently in rear-ended in the Prius by a driver going about 40 mph. But not one of the four people in the car were injured. I was amazed to see how well the Prius held up, especially considering that it's a pretty small car. Surprisingly safe car.

...

This is one car that doesn't depreciate once you drive it off the lot. Looks are deceiving- The amount of storage space is awesome! Rides better than my suburban in inclement weather. Great millage and great treatment @ the dealership. There is no problem excellerating and maintaining highway speeds. No... you don't need to plug it in at night- a common myth....

We bought our Prius in August 2005.It's been a joy to own in the time we've had it. There is no learning curve with the car - you can get in and go! We bought it for the mileage and the fact that we can take five people in the car - as long as three of them are children. Four folks fit comfortably, although it's probably tight in the backseat for really tall people.

At first, I did not like the speed display because it's in a different spot than on our mini-van. But now I think it's a much better display. It's placement allows you to keep your eyes on the road more easily than the gauge display on other cars. On the Prius, it's in front of the driver, but right under the windshield. Makes sense, huh? That's where your eyes should be, for the most part.

The display screen for MPG, heat/AC, audio controls, and energy usage is a fun little gadget. It's a blast watching my mileage go up when I coast to a stop after fillling the tank. And the controls on the screen for the audio system are pretty......

This is a great car. We really get 50 - 60 miles per gallon. It has GPS and other really advanced features. It is comfortable to drive and reliable. We bought it just before the gas prices went through the roof and we couldn't be happier. We routinely get almost 500 miles on a small tank of gas (the gas tank size is variable but it is usually about 10 gallons). You can talk to the car to control the GPS and climate control. The GPS is hugely helpful on road trips to find restaurants and other services or even just basic traveling directions. The sound system is pretty good, too.
...

I love my prius. It gets great mileage although the mileage isn't what's advertised. The ads all say mileage is better in town but it's actually better on the highway. I'm not sure if that is just my driving but I know other people who say the same. It is a very distinctive car in looks so it makes a big statement. Everyone who sees it knows that I am fuel conscious. The only problem I have with it is not something to do with the car really. It is so popular that there are five on my block. I have to check which car is mine occasionally!...

I bought my Toyota Prius in January of 1995 and I have put close to 75,000 miles on it in two years. It's a dream car. Sexy looking, fuel efficient, roomy, flexible, and kind to the environment. I would recommend this car to anyone. The back seats fold flat, giving you an amazing cargo space to haul stuff. The only problem I've encountered is that the car is low to the ground -- so it is definitely not good for rough terrain or snowbanks. But for traveling roads -- anywhere -- up mountains (we took it to Rocky Mountain National Park) or to valleys -- it hugs the road and handles beautifully. We have made five trips to the Katrina Hurricane Zone to do clean-up and rebuilding -- hauling people, supplies, and all sorts of gear. The amazing gas mileage and comfortable ride have seen us through every type of experience. This is a great car for anyone who does a lot of road traveling!...
