shutterhappy says "Can't go wrong with the combination of pros on my Matrix" about Toyota Matrix - 2004

Before buying this silver 2004 Matrix used from a local dealer I had never owned a Japanese designed car. I'd had VW's and a Mercedes and plenty of American full sized cars. I went shopping looking ONLY for a car that had a flat-straight in trunk and didn't really care what the car looked like as long as I could load heavy gear boxes into the back without killing my back. When the salesman suggested this little number I looked skeptical.

I've never been able to sit upright in a car with a sunroof and when I sat down for the first time I was amazed that my head didn't it the headliner. Then I realized how comfortable the seats were for this 280 lb fella. My wife has since bought a CRV and when I sit in that compared to my Matrix I feel like my butt's being squeezed -- and in the Matrix it's just heaven.

A month or so ago I did a trip from WI to CA, OR, WA, and back -- while I have been sporadic about checking mileage up till that trip, I decided to monitor my fuel mileage carefully. ...
...

lovingmylibrary says "The Suprising Toyota Matrix is a can-do vehicle" about Toyota Matrix - 2004

I'm the practicle car owner of the family. My husband owns the sports car and I own the small stationwagon/SUV car. He's always saying to me, "why don't you buy a sports car for your next vehicle, you know it would be more fun to drive?" But then I say back to him, "O.K., whose vehicle do we use to bring the two large dogs to run in the park, to pick up gardening supplies, take for long camping trips etc?" It's my Toyota Matrix! It's the best car value for the money. It's reasonable on gas, 32mph on highway driving. And it has all this space! Every seat folds down, including the front passanger seat. I've had the car for four years and have had no major repairs except news tires. When I buy my next Matrix, and yes, I will buy another Matrix, I will probably switch from buying one with 4 wheel drive to one with front wheel drive. The only negative with a 4 wheel drive is you end up replacing the tires more often. I am looking forward to buying a new Matrix which will hopefully...
...

Great car, but the back seat is squeaky. It hold an amazing amount of stuff with the seats folded flat. Its run reliably. Its a tad slow, but I usually like my cars fast. It perfectly acceptable for my wife....

CherMyIdeas says "Multi-Generation Car" about Toyota Matrix - 2004

I bought my 2004 Toyota Matrix used from CarMax. It has a smooth ride, is easy to handle and is great on gas mileage. I needed a car that would be easy for family and friends with knee problems to enter and exit. This fit the bill perfectly. I call it a multi-generation car because I think it is sporty-looking for the teens, roomy for the family of five, and has easy entry and exit for the 50+ generation to use. Great for hauling things with this hatchback, station wagon style. MIne's blue--so cute!...

I can't say enough good things about this car, I love my Matrix!! Not only is it fuel-efficient, but it's comfortable and drives well. Everybody who gets in my car is surprised at how roomy it is. This car has been a work horse for us as it has hauled all sorts of things from furniture to lumber. Sure it's not the fastest car (I have an XR) but that's ok because I'd rather pay less at the gas pump. ...

CentralUSA says "Great Car, Great Gas Mileage, Very Dependable." about Toyota Matrix - 2004

I really love this car. I purchased this car new from Lander's Toyota in Little Rock in October 2003. It is a 2004 model year. I have put 132,000 miles on it since then with no problems. I change the oil every 3,000 miles and I have had every service performed on it as the manual calls for with no problems at all. The dealer is great and very friendly. I love this car! I get 33 to 36 miles per gallon since new and it is fun to drive. The 120 volt outlet comes in handy on family trips. Lots of room, the back seats fold down and the front passenger seat folds down. This is just a great little car that has lots of room and is very dependable. Lots of Pros but my biggest cons are the airconditioner is weak when the outside temps get to be 100* or higher (and they do here in Arkansas), and if you roll the back windows down with the front windows up it creates a buffetting sound that drives my ears up a wall. Also, I have the full ground effects so driving in deep snow......

I love this car! I bought it used after I totalled my Toyota Corolla. It's much roomier and more comfortable. It handles well and is fun to drive - I have the 6-speed manual. The gas mileage isn't quite as good as the Corolla, but then again other features make up for it.

The seats are easy to fold down and make a lot of room to haul things. It has ample cup holders and other compartments - I like compartments!

It's a great car!
...

aktoaster says "I love my car." about Toyota Matrix - 2004

I am really happy with my Toyota Matrix. It is comfortable, reliable and fun to drive. The fold-down seats allow me to fit in all the cargo I need and I am pleased with the gas mileage and safety ratings.

I also love the "regular plug"-style outlet in the dash so I don't need to use a converter to charge my cell phone or use any other electronic device. It's really handy for camping or running my dirt devil in the car.

I do find that it doesn't handle quite as well in the deep snow as my last car (a 1993 Ford Probe), which in Michigan has gotten me nearly stuck a couple of times.

One other comments is that when my toddler's car seat is strapped in the middle of the back seat, I end up with very little cargo room because I can't fold down either seat. I could move her seat over to the side, but then I woudn't be able to see her as well in the rear-view.

I would definitely buy this car again if I had to start all over.
...
