dka says "Good gas mileage for an SUV, seats not so good." about Toyota Highlander - 2007

We wanted an SUV with good fuel economy and a good record to last us a long time. The Highlander gets decent mileage for the size it is, in fact after much research it had about the best I could find for an SUV of its size. Smooth driving, good take-off and good punch. Lots of room in the back, an adult can ride in the back comfortably as far as leg room.

What I don't like is the fabric on the seats. Shows everything, and stains easily. The seats are also very firm. The doors also do not lock automatically when you start driving like most newer vehicles these days. You also cannot just open the door when it is locked, you have to unlock it. Maybe it is just the model we got, but it is annoying.

Overall it is a good vehicle that will last many miles, I just wish Toyota had more comfortable seating.
...

I love to drive my 2007 Toyota Highlander. It is extremely good-looking and comfortable. It carries my whole family with ease. It handles well on the road and off the road. It is extremely appealing to look at. The interior and exterior is very high tech and looks great. All my friends want to have one. They all tell me that is going to be there choice for their next vehicle. Fuel consumption is great for that size vehicle. I believe it is the best decision my family has made yet in picking out a vehicle. ...

rgconnell says "Owned a 1988 Camry and now 2006 Highlander. Both excellent" about Toyota Highlander - 2007

As the soundbite indicates, I have owned a 1988 Toyota Camry on which I put 188,000 miles and other family members brought up to over 200,00 miles. I had initial problems because it was a manual transmission vehicle and the flywheel developed major noise problems until they installed a device that required the clutch be depressed before the vehicle would start. Toyota took care of all of the problems and once that was done, it was the best vehicle I ever owned. I subsequently owned a Lincoln Town Car that was great, but the Camry was the best yet. During the time I drove the vehicle I was getting 36 miles per gallon and until the day my niece totalled the vehicle, it was still getting 36 miles per gallon. So much for relatives. I had a smillar experience with my 1982 Honda Civic which I also drove over 180,000 miles and others took well over 200,000 miles, but it was not the size of the Camry nor as comfortable. Following the Town Car I had a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo...
...

The research for this car was very easy - I wanted a hybrid that could seat 7 as I have an active carpool for school. This is the only car that fit the description, and happily it is a Toyota. The third seat is easy to fold up/down. While it wouldn't fit a grown-up, it is fine for kids. The mileage isn't fabulous, but it is way better than a regular SUV. I average about 26 mpg. I have not had any trouble with it!
...

Our 2007 Toyota Highlander is our second one and we love it. It's comfortable, economical, and safe. It holds all we need to lug around when we travel. We feel very safe while driving, especially with our grandchildren seat buckled in the back seat. That may be one of the reasons our son-in-law sold it to us, because he also knows how safe it is too!!
...

I was so excited to get the Highlander Hybrid since I put a lot of miles on my vehicles and saving gas was a big goal. I love the HIghlander bodystyle but am very disappointed in the mileage - not even close to what was advertised . Sticker was 31 city/27 highway and we're lucky to get 26 combined. If I had to do it over again, I'm not sure I'd buy it....

The 2007 Toyota Highlander Hybrid is by far the best purchase I've ever made. It has all the bells and whistles I could ever want - heated seats, GPS, 6-disc CD changer ... and is the nicest vehicle I've ever owned.

It's roomy and comfortable, whether I'm driving co-workers to lunch or taking my two labs to the river for a swim.

My Highlander is incredibly quiet, fun to drive, and gets great gas mileage!
...

As car dealers offer incentives to move the 2007 model year cars off their lots, it makes this a great time to buy a new 2007. The Highlander meets all of my needs - larger than a wagon but not huge like a truck, many features and creature comforts, great safey ratings, and all-wheel drive. It rides smoothly like a car, and has enough horsepower to make those tricky moves in traffic. The air conditioning is strong and works quickly on a hot day.

Although the 2008 has more features and a bigger engine, I couldn't convince myself that it was $6000 better. If you can be flexible about the colors and features, now's a great time to buy.
...

My Highlander Experience

We purchased our new Toyota Highlander the middle of May this year. It was kind of spur of the moment, but the other vehicle that we had was starting to nickle and dime us. We had gone out for a ride and went by the local dealership and decided to stop and look around. That turned out to be the best thing we could have done.

After test driving the vehicle two nights in a row we decided to go for it. The price was agreed on and the papers were set in motion. We could pick up our vehicle in the next couple days; what time would we like to be there? The day was picked and the time was set and all was a go.

When we arrived at the dealership our car was in the showroom under a big covering to keep it under wraps for the surprise unveiling. A big sign sitting on it with the word congratulations across it. Amazing little detail that this place does. It really makes you feel special. After all the papers are signed and the owner...
...
