I bought this laptop almost three years ago on sale with my tax refund. I lot of bad things have happened to me since then and I have lost or had to sell most all of my belongings.

One of the few items I refuse to give up is my Toshiba Satellite laptop. It does everything I want. I watch T.V. and Movies, burn C.D.'s, talk on skype (super cheap phone service), operate my online business, take online college classes and so much more.

What do I not like:

Vista, I had it removed and replaced with XP but, I unfortunately got a virus and had to use the recovery disks (another awesome Toshiba inclusions) which, of course, re-loaded Vista.

Toshiba loaded my computer with a ton of garbage. By garbage I am talking about worthless software that I have to spend quite a bit of time removing when ever re-using the recovery disks.

They also (unlike Apple, my first choice if I was rich) made it impossible to dispose of there own worthless, memory depleting software. Oh, they will do as I ask (via,...
...

My desktop computer died..so we were in the market for a new one. I went to Start Sampling and reviewed what people were saying about some of the laptops that were out there.

I got a Toshiba Satellite L355D-S7825 and find it great, especially for a first time laptop user. The gal at Best Buy was very helpful too in helping me to decide & I couldnt pass up the price.

I thought I was going to have trouble setting it up but it was easier than I thought.

So far I dont have any problems except I feel the battery life isnt to long, but I havent taken it out of the house yet. I will let you know how that goes when it happens.
...

Toshiba is the best laptop comany I used so far. I acendetlly put my computer by the heater and went to Wal-Mart for 30mins. When I came back The back of my compter was burnt. Took it outside in the cold hoping it would help. I didnt know what to do. Well, It left this white spot on the screen. I thought it wasnt never going to go away. Then eventually it went away and just left a speck of white on the screen. Its been one year later and the computer still works great. I think just for that any Toshiba computer is the best built and the way to go. I wont buy from any other brand. And no I dnt have enough money to buy a new computer :( Still playing on my burnt Toshiba laptop....

Am I the only one who has a problem with the Toshiba Satellite laptop?

It seems that this computer has a been a problem since the get-go. Now only 2.5 years old, my Toshiba Satellite computer has crashed 4 times! That's 4 times in 2 years. After the first time I lost precious pictures and videos, I bought an external hard drive and started saving everything to it. Thankfully I backed up my files, because this baby crashed and burned 3 more times.

Thank goodness for the Geek Squad and my warranty because I paid $0 to get it recovered each time. I didn't download a virus, no one dropped the computer and the Geek Squad had no idea (all 4 times) why my Toshiba crashed and burned.

My other issue with the Toshiba Satellite is that it heats up very quickly and gets quite hot before it cools itself down. Not so great when you are in shorts with the laptop on your...well...LAP!

Don't get me wrong...I still use the Toshiba Satellite daily and prefer it over the Dinosaur PC in the office. ...
...

the computer itself is excellet. it has a nice big screen that is very bright and clear. the graphics are amazing and the programs that it has are wonderful once you figure out how to use them. the updated verzions of things are sometimes hard to figure out because you are so use to the old ones. like microsoft powerpoint but the new one is so much better once you figure out how to use it, you can do and add so much more than before with everything right at the click of a button instead of searching for everything. the computerized tour is great for the ones who have a hard time learning how to use a computer or someone who has never used one before. it very disticntly shows you were everything is and how to use most stuff

however, the computer heats up a little to fast. the battery also should last longer, i feel that i have plug it about an hour after using it. and the new windows vista isn't compatible with most of my programs that i use. i have to go and buy all new things including...
...

This laptop is great. It is also not very expensive. It has great picture quality. My only problem with it is its start up time and low sound quality. The volume control is also a problem, it is not the usual up and down buttons. It has a scroll thing and it is located near the bottom directly in the middle. Right now I am sitting with my laptop in my lap and every time I move it the volume either gets turned up or turned down. This is a very user friendly laptop!...

I absolutely love my Toshiba. I've never had a problem with it being slow, crashing or anything. You may read reviews online that say the battery life isn't good, but actually, the more you run your Toshiba on battery, over time, the battery life is extended. I actively use my computer on battery for almost 3 hours before having to plug it back in. Also, the color quality of the screen is really good, and the letters don't wear off my keys, which is a pet peave of mine. It's extremely user-friendly, and also has good security features. If you listen to a lot of music or watch tv on your computer, the speakers are really good quality as well. On several occasions me and 5 or more friends have watched movies on my laptop and all been able to hear clearly. It's pretty light-weight as well, and I have no problem slipping it into my book bag and walking to classes all over campus. The other thing I really like is that this computer never overheats. I've used Dells, Macs,......

I really wasn't looking for anything fancy and that's exactly what this laptop is. I went to Best Buy and bought the cheapest one they had. I was very pleasantly surprised. The large bright screen is great. With the dvd player I get movies from netflix and am able to watch instantly. Having it pre-loaded with Vista was a bit of an issue. Not alot of the programs I use are compatible yet.

I was concerned about it overheating but I didn't notice an issue with the heat at all. I do have to agree with the other reviewer about the volume button in a strange place. It basically sits so low that any movement from your leg or waist causes it to fluctuate which is annoying.

All in all if your looking for a simple laptop at a reasonable price this is the one.
...
