For the 10 Best movies in my opinion, I think you need to know these are no ordinary movies. By today's standards, these movies probably don't cut it, don't have enough special effects, the photography is shabby, whatever. But, these films in some way or another changed an era in movies and are pretty darn good. So here they are in my humble opinion:

10. Indiana Jones Movies: I wouldn't so much add the fourth installment to the list, but especially the first- Raiders of the Lost Ark deserves so much attention based on the wild ride, humor, action and scenery associated with it. The great scene at the end of the people's faces melting is especially interesting- they used Jello to melt the faces.

9. Wizard of Oz: Who can't say they've never seen this movie? It used to be a yearly staple on regular old 3-network TV for years. In the day and age of more channels, DVD's and internet, this movie lost a lot of luster and seems "corny" to today's kids. But, it was such a large-scale,...
...

My Top 10 Movies would be: 1. Titanic- Which I watch everytime it is on tv plus have the DVD, 2.Pretty Woman I think I could watch this once a week and never get tired of it., 3.My Best Friend's Wedding. Love anything with Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. He is such a Hunk!! 4. The Sound of Music. It is a yearly movie for me. 5. Gone With the Wind, It is such a classic! 6. Lion King. In fact I love all the Disney movies. I'm collecting them all. 7. All the Harry Potter Movies. I like fiction movies. I have read all the books except the last one. It's too bad the kids have to grow up so no more can be made. They would never be the same with different actors. 8. White Christmas- Always a favorite holiday movie. 9. What A Woman Wants- It is so funny. Of course all of Mel Gibson movies are good. 10. Steel Magnolia's. It's a real tear jerker. Another good one I just went to was " Fire Proof" . The title is deceiving. It is a very Christian based movie. The should......

BECOMING JANE - I'm a HUGE Jane Austen fan so this movie was not only fun, romantic, heart wrenching and entertaining, but filmed beautifully and right up my alley. LOVED it. If you're familier with her work, the story line goes along the same format as much of her writing, but the ending is not quite the same as her standard 'happily ever after' wrap up. Unfortunately, this much is true of her actual life, though there's no telling how much more of the story is set in reality. True to her life or not, it's true to the fashion of her books and brings back the romantic quotiant that's been missing from most films for years.

A ROOM WITH A VIEW - Okay, I love period films, and romance, and visually stunning cinematography set in other countries. And fun plot twists, witty dialog, drama-drama-drama, quirky characters... And this has it all. Merchant & Ivory were fantstic film makers, weaving every elemant of story telling, visionary splendor, music, and period-perfect meticulous detail into...
...

I didn't even go to the restroom because I was afraid I'd miss something. My friend gave it to me for my birthday and I'll keep it forever. If you haven't seen it please go rent it tonight....

Making a top ten list is so hard. Especially when you are tryin to compare Lord of the Rings with Three Amigos and Friday the 13th. In my eyes, comedys and horror should have their separate top ten list. So in regards to all that.....my top ten list goes.....

1. Top Gun - I love this movie. It means alot to me because when I was growing up, my older brother was in the Navy and he used to always watch it with me when he would come home. We would sit there and he would explain everything to me.

2. Apollo 13 - Ron Howard did an amazing job on this film. Plus the cast was dead on great. Also, this happens to be one of my favorite bits of American History.

3. Star Wars (the complete saga)- Not much needs to be said about them, but just that I grew up on them. The new ones too, because that brought back those memories as a kid growing up watching the originals and seein them all branched together.

4. Lord of the Rings (Trilogy) - UNBELIEVABLE MOVIES!!!!!

5. Forrest Gump - Flawless movie! Great acting!......

A Baker Dozen of the Greatest, most essential movies all time. Part 1 of 2
13. REAR WINDOW 1954 Alfred Hitchcock

Rear Window can be enjoyed as a slightly dark, slow building thriller featuring one of Jimmy Stewarts most interesting performances as a bored, wheel chair bound adventurer and travel/writer/photographer who has gotten addicted to spying on his his neighbors. He sees something disturbing in one apartment and wonders if some foul play, perhaps even a murder has taken place. His fiance' the very beautiful and sexy Grace Kelly gets drawn into his new adventure and . . . It's Alfred Hitchcock at his very best (This one slightly bests Vertigo for me)..

The other way to look at Rear Window is as one of the most fascinating and revealing stories about the nature of voyeurism in our culture, which today explodes into the realm of reality television and cult of celebrity. Stewart is essentially a somewhat helpless hero who views the world around him. Hitchcock...
...

Eight years ago, I posted this list of favorite comedies on Epinions. Every one of these is a five-star experience, and I don't expect my love of these moves to ever change. By no means is this a list in order of preference. I hope you will enjoy these recommendations:

1. Annie Hall - This is a great film about life, love, and turning forty. The story is told in a stream of consciousness style, as if Woody Allen's character, Alvy Singer, were personally invited to someone's home to tell his life story. Alvy manages to find the humor in every situation. Just remember - we need the eggs!

2. A Christmas Story - A great story of the Yuletide that can be enjoyed any time of year. Based on the writings of Jean Shepherd, viewers share the story of Ralphie Parker (Peter Billingsley) and his efforts to get a Red Ryder BB gun from Santa. The film may be set in the 1930s, but the quest for a great toy is just as timely today. Kids and parents everywhere can identify with Ralphie.

3. Dr. Strangelove...
...
