I just moved to North Dakota where it seems that ninety percent of the roads are what they call "gravel". Traveling by gravel is no picnic. I complained all the time about spending most of my commute from my home to the nearest grocery stores almost irrevocably lost. I was given a TomTom as a gift and every gravel road (as well as all of the paved ones) was in the system! I've not been "misplaced" since. I even bought a second one for my husband! I strongly encourage parents who are sending their kids off to college to make this a gift, especially if their children will be far from home. I'm getting a third TomTom for my recently graduated daughter and feel she will be far safer driving in a strange city with the combination of the gps and her cell phone. Very highly recommend this product.

This is undoubtably one of the best birthday presents my husband has bought me. I never worry about getting lost anymore. So many times, I have had to call my husband or one of my sons to come find me and now with this very simple device, I feel free! It is so easy to use. I read the directions but have found that people sitting in my passengers seat who have never used it, have been able to set it up to a location easily also. I would never buy any other GPS system but the Tom Tom brand since using this one. My husband has one for his vehicle also.

If you have a horrible time finding your way around, this device is for you. It never gets me lost, and I get to where I need to go. I got mine on the Internet for only $50. It was worth every penny! I would highly recomend it to anyone and everyone!

I was given my Tom Tom One GPS over a year ago and I use it ALL THE TIME! This unit has saved me time and miles spent on the road. When I first opened it, I thought, Oh no, how am I ever going to use this thing? I cannot read a map to save my life and have NO sense of direction! I actually wanted to return it. This was not a gift I had asked for!

Right from the start it was very easy to use. You don't need to know how to read a map, you don't need to know what direction you are going (nort or east), you jsut need to listen to the GPS person tell you what to do!

I have used it on short trips that are just a few miles away to long trips across the country and I have gotten great directions every trip. I love changing the voices to make the trips more fun, right now I have the british woman--I love her accent and it always makes me smile. My father chose the same voice for his GPS--like father like daughter.

I used to print out maps by google and yahoo and bring them with me everywhere....

It took us a little while to figure out how it worked but once you get the basics down it's easy to continue finding all the different applications and how they work. It was very helpful while we were on vacation this summer.

We got our TomTom 2 years ago, right after we traded in our SUV(which had a GPS, which was worthless outside of MN). Love our TomTom, it's portable and wouldn't go anywhere we were unfamiliar without her.

I bought my husband the TomTom One GPS about a year ago and we really love this thing. It has an easy to use touch screen, easy to program and easy to download new maps and updates. We really like the size because it is large enough to see well in the car and it is small enough to take with us when we fly somewhere. We have used this device to find alternate routes around accidents that had traffic stopped for miles, found the gas station, and our favorite restaurants. We love that you can go online to add different restaurants, stores, or attractions, so that no matter where you are, you can always find your favorite things. The TomTom One GPS is perfect for someone looking for a simple, yet efficient and reliable GPS. I would recommend this to anyone, especially if it will be their first GPS because it is so simple to use.

this tom tom seems to have about a 3 second delay in its location presentation. I've never had this problem with a garman

The TomTom - One GPS Device is very easy to use. We have had ours for a year now. She got named Betty. She is very good at getting us from one location to the other. It is very easy to set up for trips either locally or cross country. There are numerous features such as sounds, settings for points of interest, options to find detours, features to let you know you are speeding. Points of interests comes in handy when you are in a specific area that you are not familiar with, it will let you find such places as amusement parks, hospitals, restaurants, hotels, motels, coffee shops, malls, gas stations, convienence stores, just to name a few. You can reset maps to take or avoid toll roads. We have recommended TomTom Gps devices to friends and strangers. When we are ready to upgrade, it will be another Tom Tom GPS device. TomTom can be upgraded by computer...you can buy more or newer maps. There are a variety of voices that can be used on these devices. TomTom is the BEST....

I purchased the Tom Tom ONe because I needed a GPS system as I am always getting lost and after browsing for about a week it seemed the most user friendly. The first few months I had the Tom Tom , I was absolutely in love with it. I never left home without it. It turned out to be very easy to use, the touch screen system worked nicely and it was also very easy to customize it. I found it to be my best map friend. I updated it by computer twice weekly and also never got lost. A few months ago the problems started happening. Now, they are only minor problems, but the problems that occured reminded me of Map Quest. Randomly the GPS system would be lost. When I turned the Tom Tom on, I would put in my destination, and it would calculate and start me on a route from the place I was coming home from the night before. Then the GPS signal would be lost again. I have to turn it off and then back on again, wait a few minutes and re-type my destination, then turn around because it initially brought...

We bought Tom Tom on sale last year before we headed to Seattle, WA to visit family. I was a little skeptical that we actually needed it, but what a trip saver. Not only were directions exact on how to get to our destination, we ran out of diapers and needed to find a Costco and I was able to type "Costco" into Tom Tom and he gave me precise directions.

We never leave town without Tom Tom. We can type in whatever restraunt, store, bank or other shop we want and Tom Tom will get us to the one closest to where we are. Tom Tom is awesome at providing great directions to any address you input. The volume is adjustable so I can always hear him and the maps are accurate.

The only thing I wish Tom Tom did was get you to where you wanted to go the quickest way, which is not always the case. To go to my brother-in-laws we always get directed through neighborhoods instead of main streets.

We loan Tom Tom to my in-laws when they travel and will be getting them their own for Father's day.
