This is an older system but comes with all you need for a solid GPS unit. The maps are reliable and easy to use. There is a feature that allows you to make changes to the maps as well. Traffic service info is an additional cost. Yearly basic map upgrades are free. After one month the unit (refurbished) would not turn on. I am waiting on TomTom to send a replacement.
...

The Tom-Tom one, is a great device when it comes to portability and ease of use. Starting from the outside it's the perfect size to carry it around in the palm of your hand ,especially if your into new outdoor crazes like GEO-Caching, also very handy when you have a carry pouch. When it comes to actual use of the device, let's start at touch screen , pretty responsive, and tough , i gave it lots of finger jabbing to make sure it was the one i took home, easy to set destination points, and very customizable with icons and sounds and celebrity voices, simple choices and user interface but close up views of maps were as close as i would have liked, also when we zoomed in as close as we could to get a street view, within ten to fifteen seconds it would automatically zoom out and aftere extensive searching and hands on use ,i determined that feature couldnt be changed and updates which cost as much as a new Tom Tom out of the box certainly isnt a dealbreaker. great item, but research...
...

tjwob5 says "My Tomtom is awesome" about TomTom - One 3rd Edition

I love my tomtom one 3rd addition, it is everything I could of asked for. It has a lot of options and is very easy to use. It also came the software and adapter to hook it up to my computer in order to get map corrections and updates. The tomtom is also a compact size, so it is not a lot of distraction being up on your windshiel. It also has options such a real time traffic, and wheather. One day I took a wrong turn and ended up in the middle of no where, so I turned on the tomtom, put in the city, and point of interest I wanted to go, and it was able to locate where I was and get me to the location in a timely and safe manner, it was great.

It also has ton of point of interst for you to look up, such as if you know the name of where you want to go, but do not now the address, all you have to do is put in the city, and name of where you want to go, and it will pull it up just like that for you.

I would recomment this product to anyone.
...

All my life I have gotten turned around and lost so many times it became a running joke. In January I got a TomTom One 3rd edition GPS device and I love it. My son's family lives in the Washington DC area and when I visit, I can navigate around the entire area with confidence now.

What I really enjoy is that I do not have to try driving looking at written directions. I can pay attention to traffic. I can glance at the TomTom and know what is coming up next. I have it set to alert me when turns or changes are coming. It announces the street name or upcoming route change 2 miles before, then again at 1/4 mile, and then at 500 feet. It is so nice to have a navigator!

Another feature I like is that you can have it alert you if you are speeding. I am notorious for being a lead foot and I have not received a speeding ticket since I began driving back in 1973, I'd really like to keep it that way. TomTom certainly had helped me with keeping the speed down. Saves gas too.

Specifications: Tom Tom One 3rd edition

1 GB internal memory
2 hours of operation unplugged
plugged in throught ciggerrate lighters

When I first entered the job market, I had to follow a prodecure.

I had to look up the address and print out maps on Mapquest everytime. Then I hads to follow the directions and get there. I wish I could say I can follow instructions on a map but its hard for me to see a 2D representation and transfer them to 3D world. So, when I had a job interview I always the day beofre drive there with my maps and practice the rout. That used up a lot of paper and gas from driving around getting lost. So, I decided to get a GPS. With it I could find my way to interviews, save paper, find my way to other places, etc.

Pros:

Right now I am working for a temp agency which sends me to different places. So, the Tom Tom is a great help. Directions are accurate and I get there on time.

The Tom Tom One 3rd Edition is a great entry-level GPS device for easy to use navigation. Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to buy an inexpensive and userful navigation GPS. We purchased it because of the reviews we found on CNET as well as the sale price. It comes with a car charger and a suction mount. It would be great if the box included an ACDC, as well. The only recommendation I have would be for it to have turn by street directions vs turn by turn. The newer and slightly more expensive models have that feature. Otherwise, you may be turning Right at the next street which could be someone's driveway if you do not take the time to look directly at the GPS.
...

TomTom - One 3rd Edition

For the most part this is a great GPS system and a good deal for the price. There are just a few bugs that they need to work out. There are some addresses locally that even though they have been around for years that it cannot find. If you have a full charge on the battery and do not use it and it is in the off position - it still discharges so you just can't grab it when you need it.
...

oneman says "Tom Tom One is a Great value for the money" about TomTom - One 3rd Edition

The Tom Tom One provides a great value for budget minded GPS consumer.

A preloaded United States of America map is provided and has proven fairly accurate for the few different states I've used it in. However, on a few occasions the Maps have not been updated for new road construction and the device becomes confused. Fortunately it was clear the device was not providing proper direction, and so continuing to drive eventually lead to the device recognizing the proper turns (it located the areas not affected by new construction).

The satelites are fairly stable once the Tom Tom finds one. I have experienced a wait of up to 5 minutes for it to initally connect on a few occasions, but typically it provides direction in about a minute.

Occasionaly it won't recognize an address that I input. But I'd say it recognizes them with aobut 95% accuracy.

The auto re-calculate direction feature is very helpful if you miss a turn or decide to make a stop on the way to your destination....
...

I bought the TomTom - One 3rd Edition as a gift for my wife, but used it myself on occassion. We were impressed on a trip to Georgia, when we used a Navman and thought the Tom Tom would be similar. Turns outI was wrong. The Tom Tom has many of the same features, but seems more difficult to use. It has a very complicated screen system that the Navman did not. Trying to find addresses and directions weer simple enough, but when it came to finding points of interests, or even just finding restaurants such as a fast food joint or an actual real meal restaurant, there were a great deal of hoops you had to jump through. I would definitely recommend this to someone who wanted a less expensive, and introductory device. Also for someone who will be happy with it's most basic function. I don't recommend it for anyone who is not at least a little computer savvy. Once you want to start doing other things with it, like run some of the other applications aside from the basic, address to address directions,...
...

My TomTom One 3rd edition was like one of my best investments that I have every made. I bought this based on hearing many good things about it and I must say that all the things that I heard are definately true. The TomTom has a million and one features. Some of my favorite are the fact that you can download voices of superstars and famous people to be used as the voice giving directions. Another thing that I am really loving about it is the fact that it saves the last stops in case you forget to store in a location you can go to recent destinations. I also like the fact that if gives you an estimate of miles you will have to go and an approximate time on how long it will take to get there. It is also very easy to work. My 8 year old daughter asks me where we are going and plugs it into the GPS system and we go from there. It also gives you the availability to change the coloring on the screen to night colors so that it is not to bright on your eyes in the middle of the night. You can...
...
