nellslilzer says "Seriously a Godsend!!!" about TiVo - Digital Video Recorder

This is the best purchase I have probably ever made in my life! First of all I got it half price from my satellite company for being a member for so long so I suggest to anyone to call their provider so they can see if they too can get a discount! I got this but I got the HD verrsion and I absolutely fell in love from the first moment on and I think this is the best! You can pause, record and fastforward TV shows ...you can pause live TV and rewind- you can store up to 200 hours (on mine, check with yours) and just save it as long as you want until you need to delete for more space, I always have 85 percent or more remaining so I am absolutely stoked with this purchase! I paid about 50 for it myself but I know the HD one usually costs 100 and is only 5 per month more then you were paying before so if you are considering this AWESOME machine, take the plunge it will literally change your entire life!
...

jsdc2008 says "TiVo...Best Device Ever" about TiVo - Digital Video Recorder

Tivo is the best device for recording your favorite shows while you are unable to be at home to watch them or you are just too busy when they come on at the time. It's easy to use. You don't have to be advanced in technology devices in order to understand how to use it. The instructions are easy to understand. I like the way with a simple few clicks of the remote, you can get it to record your favorite shows no matter what time and what day and what channel it comes on. It is well worth the investment to own and use TiVo's services. It's the best out there in my opinion.
...

I discovered this when my life was at its bussiest. i was going to school and working a fultime job and had a girlfriend introduce me to tivo. I was missing all of my favorite shows until tivo entered the picture. Now there are all kinds of copies but i still swear by my tivo. The tivo has so much more to offer than just your cable providers dvr especially if you hook it up to your computer network. I have a tivo in every room and have networked them all together plus can order pizza on my tivo as well as play games, and videos on demand either rent them or own them, the there is the music channel on demand with your tivo. I also have the saying for tivo its my little bloop bloop machine that noise it makes when you do anything is quite addicting and just screams tivo to me. i watch alot of tv on my computer and have also made my tivo useful with this i can pull things off my computer including pictures i have saved and watch them on my tv.
...

I absolutely love Tivo. I work weird hours and can never count on watching anything when it is aired. Tivo lets me see everything and anything I want. You can get a season pass of your faves and can control whether or not is should record repeats. I like to peruse the "Find a Program" listings to see what's coming on that I might not have ever watched. I can test drive a program and see if it's for me or not. The best part...I can fast forward through commercials. Woo hoo!
...

kwhipkey says "How can you not love recording shows and missing commercials?" about TiVo - Digital Video Recorder

I have had my TiVo digital recorder for a few years now and I still love it!! I think back to the days where I would tape things on the VCR (always a pain in the butt!) and laugh at how easy it is to use my TiVo. I love its basic functions like recording shows and fastforwarding through commercials, but I also love how it takes recording up a notch with its other features. Season pass is awesome. It will record all the new episodes of my favorite shows without me having to remind it weekly. I also like the TiVo suggestions, which is where it will look at what I like to watch and record and record shows it thinks I will like. I does a good job and I am always happy to find things I like to watch as a surprise when I get home.

One problem I have with the TiVo is that it does not hook right into my cable box, so I have to use external sensors to change the channel. They do not always work right, so the TiVo will say it recorded my show, but it didn't. Very frustrating.
...

I love Tivo. I can't remember my life without it. I've only had it for a year and can't imagine my life without it. I tape ALL my favorite shows, and I love the free movie stations. My daughter loves FEARnet, the free horror movie. I love romantic comedies and other comedies, and they've got plenty of those too. I tivo CSI and Lost, and I love Dancing with the Stars as well. Tivo is definitely worth it....

O...M...G!!! What did I do before this amazing thing called TiVo??? I tell it what to record -- I don't even have to tell it when, it just knows -- it records it, then I watch it or turn to something for my kids when I want to, not when the show is on! And so much better than the old VHS routine... I don't have to remember to set it or program it, I don't even have to know when the show is on, I can just tell it once and get a "Season Pass," and it records it every time it's on -- even if the show moves to a different day or time! Love this thing. It will totally change or life and change the way you view (pardon the pun!) TV's role in your family....

PAJI says "I hope that DirecTv never severs its relationship with Tivo." about TiVo - Digital Video Recorder

My Tivo has allowed me to catch all of the great programs offered on TV. I have been a happy user since about 1999 when my daughter lived in Des Moines. She would call me during prime time every evening. I had previously videotaped the shows I would miss, but it would get so confusing.

We bought a Tivo when we got satellite service and I have been a great fan ever since. Now, I think my favorite feature is the Suggestions capability. During the presidential campaign, I would have missed many opportunities to record programs I would ultimately add to my nominee collection.

I am currently using the latest model available to me with my satellite service, an R10, not nearly as sophisticated as the higher end models available to cable users. I can hardly wait for mid 2009 when an newer model is to be made available to satellite users.

I would give up satellite before I would give up my Tivo!!
...

patmui says "Goodbye VCR" about TiVo - Digital Video Recorder

I have two series 1 tivo's at home. The best thing about the series 1 is that you don't have to have a subscription to use it. I use it just like a vcr. I manually setup the times and channels to record and it just does it. The only problem with the series 1 is that it isn't supported hardware anymore. So the daylight savings law change really messes things up sometimes. They did create a patch for series 1 tivo's but it may work and it may not. During this last time change, one tivo updated correctly but the other did not. You can still get series 1 tivo's on ebay for $31 without a hard drive. But you have to be able to add the drive and image it by yourself. Not for the faint of heart!...

Oops, I think this was actually a gift for my husband, but he lucked out because my daughter and I have taken over.

We have had this model for over 5 years. It is the greatest thing. I am no longer scheduling plans around my favorite shows or disappointed that I missed an episode. Now the shows are planned around my schedule.

My only regret is this: upon receiving the item as a christmas present we had to activate the service.... (Cheers to Tivo they were open on Christmas Day) and I was given 2 payment options.... $12.95 per month or $295.00 one time for life of machine. Due to a bad experience with a satelite system that broke soon after buying, I was reluctent to fork out the $295.00; however if I had I wouldn't still be forking out the monthly fee.

...

I love Tivo! I prefer it to the free dvr that came with my cable package. It is a bit of a trade off though cuz on my Tivo I can only record 1 show at a time. But the other dvr lacks some of the features I love and use. I thought it was such an extravagance when my hubby first bought it, but I can't afford to go back. No more wasted time on commercials!...

I love this system. I don't know how I would live without tivo. We did try to go to a dvr offered through the satellite system, but couldn't navigate it as easily. Tivo is really easy to use, and it pretty straight forward. I love how easy it is to record things, and to always have something my kids can watch at the touch of a button. Even my kids can use the remote. We have the 80 hour one, and have never had it full. ...

I can't say enough good things about my Tivo. I honestly don;t know what I did before I got it! I am so addicted that I actually skip watching live shows on purpose so that I can watch the recording later and skip through all the commercials. Tivo is the greatest thing that's happened to TV since....well, EVER. I'm not a sports fan at all, I just love other TV. If you do dig sports then Tivo is even more ideal. I think that setup is somewhat intense, but I have a super techie husband who handled that for me. Now I have a Tivo in every room!!...
