Fed up with slow speed internet. I pay for HIGH SPEED BROADBAND ROAD RUNNER, but most times I get dial-up speeds.

My HD DIGITAL cable is very ofter pixelated, with garbled audio. It locks up for no apparent reason, and needs to be re-booted (a process whiich can take as long as 20 minutes.

About 4 years ago I signed with TWC Kansas City on a package for cable( up to channel 74), 768Kbps road runner (it's plenty fast for me, don't download much), and digital phone for the price of $75 a month plus taxes. Well my 1 year contract ended and for the past 3 years I have been getting the package for the same price, they never have raised the price on me. Well about 2 weeks ago I got a letter stating that my price will be going up $2 dollars a month, So I decided it was time to upgrade. Checked out all the options including Directv, Dish & AT&T U-verse, I found problems with all of them. The satellite cable packages come with DSL internet which I heard people have a lot of problems with the reliablity of it. Also they are not local companies so I would be sort of worried about that, and the reliability of satellites. I checked in AT&T u-verse they have a deal right now for all 3 services for $94 a month but that's only good for 6 months and then the price raises $30 so it will be...
...

If only I could express my distaste for Time Warner customer service. I have been unhappy with them from day one, which was years ago. I have never called in to them without being on hold for over 15 minutes. When I do get to speak to a human they never know what they are talking about and it takes at least 2 trasfers to speak to someone who can help. The phone service is always out, every couple of weeks we try to make a call and the phone lines are temporarily down. Calling to discuss billing is another area that Time Warner fails in customer service. They are always very short tempered and not very helpful. The few times I have had questions or have had to ask about billing I got different answers from different reps. When calling in to get a better rate I got one person who said I could not get a better rate and when I called in 10 minutes later and spoke to someone else they gave it to me. The only time I have been satisfied with Time Warner is when I have an internet problem,they...
...

We have had a number of outages with our local Time Warner Cable. Sometimes it's because of a thunderstorm, sometimes it's an unexplained outage with no unusual weather in the area. We have always paid our bill on time, yet receive sub-standard service as far as outages are concerned.

Even with thunderstorms, in this day and age, you would think Time Warner would have the latest technology to make sure their customers' internet and cable connections would be more reliable. This is 2009. Many times the power to our home stays on just fine during bad weather, but Time Warner is out for anywhere from 2-6 hours.

And this is what we get for our monthly service? I would not recommend them.
...

It always annoyed me that Time Warner Cable was my only option for cable in NYC. Lately their customer service has been better, but whenever the cable goes out I have to wait forever to have someone come fix it. Plus, it is very expensive. I would love to downgrade my cable more, but I can't do that if I still want my DV-R. So I am stuck paying for 100 channels when I barely use 5. And my internet is very inconsistent. The only positive thing I can say is that lately when I talk with someone on the phone they have been kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. And they haven't been too pushy.
...

I was a Time Warner Cable (TWC) customer for years until AT&T U-verse came to my area and I was able to switch. TWC offered fairly reliable service however, in the value for the money section, they are extremely lacking. Every November I could count on seeing an increase in my cable bill even as the quality of the channels offered declined. So far I'm satisfied with AT&T and glad I could and did make the switch.
...

I've had DirecTV since 1998. When I moved to Fort Hood, TX in 2006, they had all these stupid regulations for dishes, so I just got the Time Warner Cable bundle. It was very economical, the TV included in the bundle was more than basic. It had lots of channels. The basic internet service, which they call The Roadrunner was fast enough for my needs. No slow page loads, and the online game play was fine. Phone's a phone. I was totally spoiled by it. My local cable company now is sub-par and I miss my Time Warner Cable.

You can pay online with their Pay Xpress website. I kept forgetting to bookmark it though, and it was hard to find. It wasn't linked from their main web site. You can turn off paper statements there too. I love having that option for all of my bills.

I was probably luckier than most. I lived on a military installation and there was a TWC office there in a building on-post. Once my modem broke. I just unplugged it and motored on over to the Copeland Center and got a new one,...
...

I recently applied for time warner cable internet service and from their confirmation mail, they provide me a link for a wireless modem rebate promotion. I joined this promotion, however, the modem can't be activated even though the time warner technician came to install the internet. The time warner technician told me that he encountered this problem before and he couldn't fix it for me. And he told me to try another day by myself to see if the modem can be activated. He told me that this modem can be used with the time warner service and some other ppl are using it.

So, I called time warner cable 4 days later about this problem, ironically their customer service denied this offer and asked me to fx it by myself. They deny that they know such a promotion and ask me to check with the promotion providor by myself. They said they are not responsible for the modem, and they are not responsible for any 3rd party promotions.

I was pissed by their tone and their irresponsible...
...

i am so glad to see that i am not the only one that has issue with TWC. i have been experiencing problems with their FREE On Demand channels ever since they became free, some years back. i have wrote a letter to a management personnel in my area. i have made numerous phone calls, still problems. most people who have the regular cable do not have these issues. the issues are the "digital" services....i pay more money and get worse performance.

On demand error codes, 32, 106, 005, etc....freezing up, re-booting on it's own in the middle of a program.

If i performed as inadequate at my job as TWC does at providing digital cable, i wouldn't have a job, would you?

they have a lovely blame game, not sure, not my area of expertise, don't know, can't help, should fix itself, etc.....the list goes on and on. do you suppose if i told them i would can't pay my bill this month because i don't know, not sure or really don't want to continue to pay for something i'm not getting, that...
...

I been having Time Warner Cable service because I have no other choices in my area. All they do is install a pipe to suck up your money by keep raising service charge and charging for something you even know that is existed! Do not call their help desk, I can teach you to take care of your problem: cancel the service and find another company, any company. All their "experienced technicians" are very experienced in blame your PC, router, even their own modem ( the one they provided to you!) for no connection, intermittent or the "super blazing fast speed" at about the same with a dial up connection.

My last advice: Do not buy a house without checking if that house is in the TW monopoly area and no DSL service.
...

This is a very good cable company. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to get it ALL. The internet and cable is great!(I have verizon phone service). The On Demand channel is awesome. Whenever I want to watch a movie I just go to Starz On Demand and there is a huge list of movies to pick from. Also the menu button makes it easy to find shows and their times that they are on. Recording is great, sometimes I am not home so I just record the show to watch later. The internet is super fast. It takes about 3-4 seconds to load the page. It's just great!...

Tonight I tried to watch TV on Time Warner Cable. I do not watch much TV. I have two boys and two TVS. Do the math. We're talking cartoons on one TV and sports on the other usually. One kid is off at college, so I can now click in with a window of opporunity, though I am not in the habit at this point.

I'm worn out. I click on the TV. I have to turn it off and on again with some new reprogram. I've had to call about this before. They upgrade at TIme Warner. My box is not smart enough to know this without me doing a reset. With the cost of cable, the box oughta be smarter than that. OK. I got the reset.

I press the menu. Squint. Strain. What is this? I get up out of the chair about 8 feet away to go see what Time Warner has done to the menu.

Well, they have made the menu blue with white letters. How very cool. NOT. There is a reason most media is white with black letters like right here at Viewpoints. The whole idea of text is that you can read it. Like DUH. It does not matter how pretty...
...
