I thought this was a wonderful movie by Anthony Hopkins. I love movies that are based on real life! True stories seem to jump out more than made up ones. Who could make some of the things that go one in this film. Who would think someone would travel all that way to be in a race!Anthony Hopkins plays the charter very well as well. He is a wonderful actor and it shows in this film. This is not a action packed thriller by any means but very entertaining and even funny at times in a quirky kind of way.And I found this movie to be very interesting and wonderful! I enjoined watching it.
...

Garytoon says "A movie I could watch again and again!" about The World's Fastest Indian TV

This movie was a very well done movie about persistance, people getting to know people and people helping people!

I enjoyed Anthony Hopkins in the title role and think that no other actor could have portrayed the part he played.

Watching this movie inspires you to be persistant in everything that you do; never assume that anyone will do anything for you or to you, but always being the eternal optimist, no matter what the circumstances.

I couldn't stop watching this movie once it started. And anytime that I see that it's coming on the movie channels, I make it a point to watch it. It seems that the more that I watch it, that I always see something that I didn't see before. Even my wife enjoyed the movie and she's hardly a motorcycle "person". (Neither am I!)

I would highly reccommend this movie to anyone, especially for families. There's no bad language in it, nor any type of violence or graphic scenes. Since it's based on a true story, it makes it that much more enjoyable....
...

My wife spotted the film The World's Fastest Indian and put it in our Netflix queue. After watching it, all I can say is that you should put it in your Netflix queue, too -- this is a terrific movie!

The World's Fastest Indian tells the true story of Burt Munro (Anthony Hopkins), an aging New Zealander who wanted to see how fast his ancient Indian motorcycle would go at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. Burt's quite single-minded in his love of motorcycles and speed, and the only one who believes in Burt's dream is Tom (Aaron Murphy), the young boy who lives next door. However, with amusing charm, good luck, a bad heart and a balky prostate, Burt makes the trip to the US.

Landing in Los Angeles, Burt meets and befriends some colorful characters, including a transvestite desk clerk at a fleabag by-the-hour hotel and a slick Hispanic car salesman who quickly comes to admire Burt's mechanical skills. One of the great charms of The World's Fastest Indian is the ability of Burt Munro to befriend...
...

Telpher says "A Kiwi Gem - and a Kiwi Hero, to Boot!" about The World's Fastest Indian TV

In 1967, New Zealander Burt Monroe decided he would take his 1920 motorcycle, a model named The Indian, to America to try and match the world speed record. He did this with almost no money, no plans, no support...an impossible feat. He did it because no one told him he couldn't.

I loved this movie. Having lived in NZ for several years, I instantly recognized the do-it-yourself, get'er-done mentality of Monroe. The guy beat the odds, showing up at the Salt Flat with nothing but a beat up car, and his motorcycle in tow. His lodging? His car! Have I mentioned that he was in his 60s, had never been to America before, hadn't even registered for the official timing event, and that he had a serious heart condition??? Well, yeah - all of that is true. It's also true that he not only matched the world speed record with his rickety-looking cycle, but his record stands today!

This is a quiet little movie that captures the heart. It made me proud to be a Kiwi citizen, ad to be associated with New...
...

I had never heard of this movie but decided to try it anyway. I loved it. Hopkins can act in anything and i thought it was sad in places and very touching in others. His ability to be bad, sexy, funny, etc. is outstanding in his movies. He was very touching in this movie and i especially l;iked his interaction with the small boy. Excellent movie!...

When the TiVo in our home theater recorded The World's Fastest Indian as a suggestion, my husband watched it all by himself one evening when I had to work late. Without thinking, he deleted the movie, but then just two days later sought it out to record on our downstairs television, insisting that I had to watch it with him.

I have a notoriously short attention span, and getting me to sit through a movie is often a hard sell for my husband, so the fact that he was willing to sit through a second showing within a week made an impression on me. We sat down to watch it one evening, and as soon as the movie was over I went upstairs to send an e-mail to my father. "You have to rent 'The World's Fastest Indian'. Do it now. Don't ask, just do it. Trust me."

The movie was just so enjoyable that for us, it was an experience that must be shared.

About "The World's Fastest Indian"
First: The Indian in question isn't a person. It's a heavily-modified 1920 Indian motorcycle. The Indian's owner is Burt...
...
