This movie really touches anyones heart. It proves how no matter what you plan in your life things happen and can change it. Things can change and make you a better person. "The Ultimate Gift" shows us that even though things may not seem like good choices or what we want at the time, but they might be the best things for us. We need to be openminded and wait for what is to come. Things happen for a reason and others sometimes do things that they know might hurt but help. They do this out of love for us and that is shown in this movie when the grandfather is set the give him the "ulitmate gift" but cannot just take it. He has to learn to appreciate it and earn it. It isn't because he doesn't want to give it up, he is trying to improve the person his grandson has become. With the "ultimate gift" as his goal he learns to give up the old lifestyle and learn to love and live in his new life!
...

Tiapet says "What a Wonderful Surprise" about The Ultimate Gift DVD

The Ultimate Gift came out of left field to me. I really did not know what to expect. As the movie progress forward the story began unfolding. The lesson learned in this movie should be one shared with and viewed by all families. A very timely piece for the world right now I think.

I was so pleased with this movie and came away with such profound feelings that stayed with me for a long time. It's not often that a movie with touch me this deeply. My only wish is that I had had a box of tissues nearby at the time. Unfortunately I didn't. Not even a single one or anything close to it.

For warning for anyone watching, make sure you have a box of tissues nearby. This is one heck of a tear jerker! A must see.
...

bkovacs says "Family film is ultimately predictable" about The Ultimate Gift DVD

Netfilx recommended The Ultimate Gift, so I gave it a try. It turned out to be neither great nor terrible, just a string of missed chances holding together a predictable story.

Self-made billionaire Red Stevens (James Garner) dies at the beginning of The Ultimate Gift and all the relatives line up for their inheritances. One by one, they learn that they will get some relatively small thing but not the big plum each was hoping. However, Red saved one special inheritance for Jason, a stuck-up, inconsiderate and self-absorbed grandson. Jason (Drew Fuller) must complete a series of tests before he can find out what the inheritance will be, and Red spells out the tests in videos that he made before he died.

The first test has Jason traveling to Texas to plant fence posts for a month on the ranch of Red's friend, Gus (Brian Dennehy). Another test strips Jason of his money, credit cards and apartment, so that Jason can learn the value of money. Yet another test requires Jason to understand the...
...

fighter says "The Ultimate Gift is the kind of movie everyone should see." about The Ultimate Gift DVD

The Ultimate Gift is a very heartwarming movie. One of those movies that pulls at your heart. Makes you think about your own life and what it is you value. Hollywood usually messes with touching family movies by putting gratuitous scenes in them. This one doesn't it stays wholesome from beginning to end. If you are lokking for a movie the whole family can watch and get something out of it. Well you found it. So breakout the popcorn and Bon Bons light the fire and snuggle up for great movie. You won't regret it. Matter of fact you'll probably be talking about it the next day. Maybe even the next week or month. I just wish that Hollywood would get the message, we need more monvies like the Ultimate Gift. Watch it , buy it, tell your friends about it. Maybe the more reviews like this one and Holly wood will start to pay attention. I hope you take me up on my suggestion, you won't be sorry. I promise....
...

First of all I want to thank all those who gave great reviews for this film; I saw a review and some more on it, and when I got paid, I reminded myself to go out and get this movie, and thank God, it was at Sam's Club for less than $8.00. brand spanking new and I brought it home and watched this film. First of all, I have worked for everything I got in life, so this young fella's story is something I couldnt get at first. I mean, you turn around, and there it is. Trust Fund or Hedge Fund Baby. That must be something. But when he is stripped of those things, and has to manual labor, loses his money, couldn't even get a loan from those he loaned money to, or his own mother. that is hard. It must had been hard to be in the restaurant and ask the girl to pay, and she sits there and cries and walk away; but then she probably thought it was an act. Now when he was down and out, I respected that. I have been there, I know about that. but as he goes through things, he's not asking for the gift...
...

A CHRISTMAS STORY:

Any nine-year-old kid in the '40s would passionately want, for Christmas, a Daisy Brand Red Ryder repeating BB carbine with a compass mounted in the stock. Of course. And of course, his mother would say, "You'll shoot your eye out." That's what mothers always said about BB guns. I grew up in downstate Illinois. The hero of this film, Ralphie, grew up in Gary, Ind. Looking back over a distance of more than thirty years, the two places seem almost identical -- Middle American outposts where you weren't trying to keep up with the neighbors, you were trying to keep up with Norman Rockwell.

The movie is based on a nostalgic comic novel named 'In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash,' by Jean Shepherd, the radio humorist, who also narrates it. He remembers the obvious things, like fights with the bullies at school, and getting into impenetrable discussions with younger kids who do not quite know what all the words mean. He remembers legendary schoolteachers and hiding in the...
...

I watched the movie the first time by myself and the next day I had my children sit down with me and we watched it. When my husband came home from overseas we watched it together and he said that is one of the best movies that he has watched in a very long time. Truly a must see movie and I think everyone who watches it will agree with me, I wish they had more like this....
