I will never forget watching this movie with two other friends from church in 1982, Memphis, Tennessee when our church had their youth convention. We saw this film, 1941 and Animal House; But out of all of the films, I tend to favor this one the most because of the music which got me to tapping my feet, the adventure, the comedy, the stars etc etc. You just cannot HELP but LOVE this movie. Saturday Night Live made a great team out of the late John Belushi and Dan Ackroyd; It was a match made in heaven that ended only with Belushi's passing sadly. But this film about a set of brothers Ellwood(Ackroyd) and Joliet Jake(Belushi) Blues, who upon Jakes release from prison, go to the orphanage where they were raised and find out from the sister there that they owe on their property taxes. They decide to get the band they had together and do a benefit concert to help pay the taxes. Well, ok, but no not ok; Not only do they tick off the sister when she sees them, they tick off the law enforcement,...
...

Action, laughter, slap stick comedy and more, the Blues Brothers delivers. The wonderful lost talent of Jim Bulishi and his friend Dan Akroid fill the screen with laugh after laugh in this great cult classic. The music is unsurpassed as those terrific old classic rock tunes keep your toes tapping while your gut is wrenching from all the laughter. Talk about chase scenes! The mall shopping experience has not been the same for those who have watched the Blues Brothers speed through and past all of our favorte store fronts carefully putting those "advertising blurbs" into the hilarious script. All bases are covered and no one political or religious venue is safe from the comic stylings of these two outlandish brothers. If you have never watched this movie then it is a must!
...

The Blues Brothers is a 1980 musical comedy directed by John Landis and starring John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd as "Joliet" Jake and Elwood Blues, characters developed from a "Saturday Night Live" musical sketch. It features musical numbers by R&B and soul legends James Brown, Cab Calloway, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles and John Lee Hooker, and car chase scenes.
The story is a tale of redemption for paroled convict Jake and his brother Elwood, who take on "a mission from God" to save from foreclosure the Roman Catholic orphanage in which they grew up. To do so they must re-form their rhythm and blues band, the Blues Brothers, and organize a performance to earn $5,000 to pay the tax assessor. Along the way they are targeted by a destructive "mystery woman", Neo-Nazis, and a country and western band - all while being relentlessly pursued by the police, and eventually the military and a SWAT team.
...

I was introduced to The Blues Brothers when I was 11 years old. I had never seen it before, and I saw the tail end of it at my grandmother's house on Thanksgiving Day. It was the scene were Jake (John Belushi) and Elwood (Dan Aykroyd) Blues were being chased by the Nazis, and they miraculously are saved by God after going off a cliff, while the Nazis fall to their deaths. It was funny, funny stuff, especially given the "we're on a mission from God" tagline that goes throughout the movie. Since then, I have been in love with the Blues Brothers.

Combining great old school rhythm and blues (think Sam & Dave, Wilson Pickett, etc) with outfits that, in the words of Aretha Franklin, make them look like "Hasedic diamond merchants," the Blues Brothers became popular on Saturday Night Live. But it wasn't just Belushi and Aykroyd, oh no. They assembled a who's who of Memphis' R&B scene for their backing band, and before long, they were two of the most beloved characters SNL ever gave...
...
