TheBard says "You'll Never Need Another Mathematic/Scientific Calculator" about Texas Instruments - TI83

Bottom-Line: The Texas Instruments TI-83 Plus Graphing Calculator is probably the last calculator you will purchase in your academic career, it is just that powerful.

Texas Instruments released the first TI-83 Plus Graphing Calculator, and upgrade of the TI-82, in 1996, and it has gone to be one of the most widely used graphing calculators for students across a broad range of educational levels. In addition to the functions found on normal scientific calculators the TI-83 Plus includes graphing, polar/parametric/sequence graphing modes, statistics, trigonometric, calculus (the Plus) and algebraic functions. Texas Instruments released the TI-83 Plus in 1999 as a replacement for the normally aspired TI-83. The TI-83 Plus also ships with flash memory, which would enable the devices’ OS to be updated as needed.

Powered by (4) AAA-sized batteries (plus 1 CR-1616 or CR 1620 lithium battery for backup), the TI-83 Plus Graphing Calculator is large unit ideal for advanced mathematics students...
...

I got this calculator years ago. I'm graduating college in 2 months (and counting!) and it's still the only calculator that I turn to for every class. The display is large and I love being able to see what I just typed in so I can fix it if I made a mistake. It has plenty of memory, so I was able to download games and other software to use when I was in a boring class. :) The graphing function is fairly easy to use and it can do a lot of mathmatical equations and functions. My favorite thing on it is the fraction to decimal capability for those days when I don't want to have to do it in my head. It is durable, and I have dropped mine many times with no problems. The battery life is extremely long too. I believe I have only had to change the batteries 2 or 3 times in the last 6 years with extensive use. Awesome calculator for anyone level of math.
...

I have had my Texas Instruments -Ti83 calculator for seven years now. I have used it for algebra, calculus, phyisics, and civial engineerings. I have only had to change the batteries three times in 7 years! I love this calculator. It is like it is indestructable. I have dropped it many times and I have never had a malfunction. It has never broken before. I also used it for the SAT and the ACT. It has a huge screen that lays out each calculation and problem you enter. It also and store calculations and formulas that you use often. It is a great scientific calculator. The calculator also looks slim and long. It has a nice appearance because of its shimmering black cover. When I first bought this calculator, I spent almost two hundred dollars on it, but it was worth it. I will probably never use another calculator in my life. I have a feeling that it will never break. I would recommed this calculator to anyone.
...

I have owned this calculator for about 5 years now. It's pretty tough. I haven't been easy on it. Its been dropped countless times and it has yet to malfunction on me. I probably use this cal. daily and I've only had to change the batteries in twice!! It has saved my life for some of those really difficult math problems also. Great features and very easy to use. Everything is laid out nicely and easy to find under the different options. I makes math homework so much less painful. Worth the money you pay for it!...
