elpescador says "worth every penny!!!" about Technivorm Coffee Maker

This coffee maker makes the best coffee I have ever had from a drip machine. I had a cuisinart grind and brew and the coffee was OK but nothing compared to what Id get at my local coffee house. I had gotten to the point that I wouldn't brew coffee in the morning just run over to the coffee house and grab a large cup to go.

After getting a cup of coffee at a friends house made with the Technivorm KBTS I became a convert. I now believe that coffee can be made with a drip machine thats as good as if not better than my local coffee brewer. I also upgraded to a Swissgold filter with mine so now there are 3 parts to wash: the filter the hopper and the carafe.

There are a few things about this coffee maker you should know. It is not sleek-it was not designed to impress you, it was designed to make great coffee, It has one function- on and off, no timers, presets, alarms, etc. I guess you could preset it with a plug in wall timer if you wanted...but it pretty easy just hitting the...
...

mmears says "for coffee junkies" about Technivorm Coffee Maker

TECHNIVORM manufactures only the best coffeemakers. Dutch made, they have been particularly hard to find lately due to a spate of articles recently in Bon Appetit and Forbes. No stores in Raleigh carried them so I ordered one from Sweet Marias and one from Boyds.

What makes this worth the $200 price tag? It brews the best coffee you can imagine, starting with heating the water to higher temps that you won't find in any other coffee maker, necessary to extract the most flavor from the freshly ground bean. The best models come with a thermos jug so that the pot doesn't bake the coffee and destroy the taste of freshly brewed coffee - they do offer models with a warmer, though. If you love coffee as much as we do - i.e., buy only freshly roasted beans (better still, roast your own) you owe it to yourself to brew it in a Technivorm.

...
