On September 23, the world was to the HTC Dream, now known as the T-Mobile G1, and the initial reaction ranged from "That's it?" to "I have to have it!" Unfortunately, we fell more into the "That's it?" camp. From the outset, the G1 offered more functionality than and even the current (before iPhone OS 3.0), including copy and paste, multimedia messaging, a better camera, and Google Street View. It also delivers good call quality and snappy performance. T-Mobile's recent roll out of the Android 1.5 Cupcake update also fixes the issue of previously missing features, including video recording, stereo Bluetooth support, and a soft keyboard. However, there are still some omissions, such native Microsoft Exchange support, and nagging design quirks that left us cold.

Despite these complaints, we did come away impressed with the Google Android operating system. There's huge potential for the G1 (and any Android devices after it) to become powerful minicomputers as developers create more...
...

I bought my G1 phone back in January of this year. I absolutely love it and do not know how I functioned without it. My boyfriend recently purchased the updated version of it, and I am glad that I got the G1. It is simple to use, and even I can understand all of its basic functions without pulling out my hair trying to make a simple phone call. It gives you online tutorials to help with the things you may not be able to figure out on your own. And I love the way the screen flips to the side to reveal a full function keyboard. On my boyfriend's phone, there is no keyboard and trying to punch the letters on his onscreen keyboard would have been a big hassle for me. The call clarity is amazing. The service behind TMobile is the best I've ever used. And before I stuck with TMobile, I had experienced many different cell phone providers. I have been with TMobile for around six years now, and have not had any problems with service or satisfaction. Where friends are spinning...
...

Tmobile g1 is the next best thing since labtops. You can do just about everything from the palm of your hand with this phone that you can do on a computer plus more. The g1 has the best applications ever, and the best part is, most of them are free. The pictures and video's are great with the small exception of no flash light. It has a full keyboard. It also have a touchscreen with a keyboard on it. The g1 has lots of memory space. The GPS is alsome, helped me alot of times. The screen flip flop with the turn of the phone. The phone alerts you of all the new updates to whatever application you have downloaded to your phone. You can play live games without even getting on the web. The worst thing about the phone is the battery, but the phone has an application to show what kill the battery fast so you can turn it off if you don't need it, which makes a great difference. The phone is able to hold multiple alarms. You can also set multiple alarms for calendar events. There are so many...
...

I have owned my T-mobile G1 by HTC for months now and it is awesome! I use it on a daily basis and have found that I can use my cell phone to succesfully complete most of the things I would usually do at home in front of the desktop. The internet works seamlessly where a connection is available and I even filled my phone with so many free applications that I ran out of memory! The battery is the only issue that I seem to have had so far. It dies rather rapidly and I am currently awaiting a replacement because it seems to only last an hour at most. And even that process was as easy as 1-2-3. I love having the option of a full keyboard or using the onscreen touch keyboard. It's like having a computer in my hip all the time! I have not even taken a second look at the new "My Touch", which is basically part two of my model, simply because it does not offer the slide out keyboard and from what I've seen that is the only difference in the two. However, my T-Mobile G1 by HTC is awesome and I do...
...

I have been using cell phone since 1990, phone for me is always a tool for communication only .I never thought of cell phone as to do more. When I came to hear about Google Phone. I just say to myself that it's about time that I use the phone more than just a phone. And I tell you, I use it for almost everything now in my life. G1 almost complete my life, from GPS, calendar, look for store, compare price, gaming, listen to music, watch youtube, check email, massenger, skype, and on and on. The only complain I would have is there is only one port for charging, headset. I can't do both in the same time. But the rest is fullfilling.
...

This phone is just like the Iphone. It has its own apps and its touch screen. It does have a flip up keyboard which I do like it. It's a really great phone. I love the apps that come with the phone. I love that it has "google maps",so I can use GPS to see where I'm at on the map. For women, it has a menstrual app that helps you keep track of your monthly visitor. Can download games. I hate that the phone doesnt have a flash on the camera, because I really need a flash on my phones, but whatever. Umm, It has a removable memory card and its easy to pop in and out. i love how just about all tmobile phones can be locked with a security code. Mine, you draw patterns on the screen and can lock the sim card,so nobody can use it, if the phone was to lost or stolen. I think thats a smart idea, because some people like to go through others cell phones and read their messages or pank phone call people.
...

the g1 is an amazing piece of technology!!!! it does everything the iphone does and so MUCH more!!!!! i absolutely adore my touch screen and the swing out keyboard. it is very durable... not at all like the sidekick which i would kill in a heartbeat!!! it has thousands of endless applications and there is always something new everytime i visit the appstore! i also love how they rate each app because that also helps determine if i want to download the app or not. i seriously dont think i could have lived without my g1 at all!!!
...

I purchased the T-Mobile G1 last March and now I would be lost without it.

The market place is a great place to find applications that can be downloaded to your phone ... many of these apps are even free!

The G1 is a great way to have the internet at hand where ever you are at. I find the internet to run kind of slow but the coverage is so much better with the G1 than on other phones.

Some of the things that I have found that I dont like are things like...I wish the speakers were louder, and I find that my battery goes dead very easily, also many of the free apps force close.

All in all if I hade the choice to make again I would deffinatly go with the G1 it is a great phone and they are constantly working to make it better!
...

demnos says "The T-Mobile G1 is a great phone with a ton of useful features." about T-Mobile - G1 Cell Phone

The T-Mobile G1 is a great phone, but that's not all that it is. It's also a digital music player, a mobile internet device, an email reader, a camera, a camcorder, a video game console, and more. There is also a built-in marketplace where you can go to download new applications to truly personalize and enhance your phone. There are thousands of applications. Most apps cost a small fee (starting at $0.99 for many) but there are tons of free apps as well.

A few apps I would recommend are:

Astrid : A great task manager

Abduction : A great game that you play by tilting the phone back and forth.

Shazam : Let's you tag and remember songs that you hear on the radio.

Twidroid : A great Twitter client

Weatherbug : So you always know what weather you are going to run into.

Some Pros:

Full physical QWERTY keyboard (onscreen keyboard as well if you don't feel like opening the physical keyboard)

A2DP support for use with bluetooth stereo headsets

I've never had a great, cool phone before and I happened into this one through T-Mobile. First, it wasn't terribly expensive and I had heard some very good things about it from reviews. T-Mobile's everything package (unlimited texting and unlimited 3G Data package) is affordable, much more affordable than the iPhone and ATT'S package. T-Mobile even offered to spread the phone's payments out over 4 months, so that added around 40 a month for 4 months to my bill, of which I had a month to pay anyways...no interest was added for this convenience. Secondly, The phone is somewhat future proof: its the world's first open source phone by Google (the Android OS platform), meaning that it is completely programable by ANYONE and EVERYONE and not just one company (Apple). That means no ridiculous 'upgrades' requiring you to buy a new phone (like Apple is now trying to do with their next gen iPhones that can play and record video; the brandnew upgrade that was free of charge from T-Mobile...
...
